Happy New Year! Let us do at least a little more this year to make our dreams come true and new ones to appear. I wish you more interesting flights and soft landings!
Hi Andrey, I am curious to know if the CD300 engine is or better said could be used in the airframe of the Da 62? I of course understand what he said in the video regarding trying out different engines with more HP but at a cost of only few more knots. I am guessing the CD 300 wasn't around at the time of the DA 62 design ? Or maybe it was? Can you ask them (diamond if in future is it possible t increase some type of speed in the DA 62 airframe? As it seems just a little too slow in real world today usage (of course just my personal thoughts). But either way i think this is the future for GA with the world going so nuts with Wokeness etc and the Avgas problem with so hard to get as I know myself as I operated a P68 Partenavia in the country of PNG (just above Australia if you guys are wondering where this is). Cheers Great video Nico
the 300 is much heavier than the 4 cyl, and would break the wings of the 62. they could be used in a larger, redesigned airframe that might hold 8-9 people. the 300 hp engine would be great in a lot of singles with The OI- 540s on big pipers and Cessnas!
@@bartlevenson7851 yes i realized this , and i did wonder same but then i checked the CD300 is 582lbs dry the AE330 is 410 lbs dry? it really is not much a difference ie could not the design team not (if they wanted too?) strengthen the wing to support the extra weight? Obviously they could any smart engineers could if they wanted to. It most likely boils dow to extra costs to do it and then ask themselves is it worth it? I would say the answer is Not Worth It as they Diamond would have if they saw a market out there. I guess I appreciate your response from you point of view. What really i was trying to get across was in this new 21 century when they these designers that actully go out of there way to build new GA aircraft you would think they would step it up a little after spending a ton of money in the first place getting the Da42 and then the Da62 to market and the amount of speed difference is ? I dont know lets compare some of these other aircraft that are experimental that push some crazy speeds. Why not try to get this DA62 to lets call it a speed where most of the Avaition crowd would be so pleased (it can be done) all that money spent on the airframe of the da 62 is a result of a very beautiful looking machine. Who knows maybe they are already working on a secret project? The expense to bring a new GA aircraft to market with all the regs must be insane and costly and just not worth it. Then the next question is, is it somehow possible to get the cd 300 weight down to a better number so that airframe out there can handle the math to make it airworthy? Again i would think the people at Contenental must have but some serious mind thought into making it as light as possible? I havent seen anyother airframe guys out there discussing this engine? Sad? But maybe it is too heavy?

Great video! Just the end , I disagree that this is “pretty much the same” as Cirrus aircraft. Cirrus still has continental old school engine. For that reason alone we are comparing apples and oranges. This plane is RG, and more efficient despite more room. Only thing I don’t understand is the 49gal capacity, surely they will increase this in the future This generation of pilots can’t deal with mixture and prop settings, surely cirrus will get in line with the Ie2 at some point, until then Diamond deserves serious consideration
As from pilot / owner / user point of view in the United States, I see much more disadvantage in Diesel C300 engine than "old school" Lycoming (not continental in the last Cirruses generations). The reason - cost of maintenance, nobody know this engine (at least now), hard to get parts, etc. Maybe it will be better in US, but I'm pretty sure US market will be completely under Cirrus hegemony. This is my personal opinion) P.S. Diamond is more expensive than cirrus even GTS.

Beautiful aircraft. I don’t agree with you Andrey about your comparison with the Cirrus SR22. Why is the Cirrus the better aircraft in the US but in Europe the DA 50 is the better choice? That makes no sense at all. They are both very similar. Correct. But besides the Parachute 🪂 the Cirrus does nothing better. The safety construct, the safety margin, this is way better on the DA50. The DA50 has the better aerodynamics. The DA50 has the way better fuel efficiency. A difference of 5-6 Gallons per hour in advantage is huge. The ramp appeal does the DA50 a lot better either. The cabin comfort is a slice better compared to the Cirrus. The DA50 got retractable gear, which I like and prefer more because of performance. Jet fuel is cheaper than avgas. And even in the US cheap avgas is history in most places. My choice would be clearly the DA50. The Cirrus is nice and awesome. But the DA50 takes over me better and more feelings to this one. I think the points go to the DA50. The Parachute is a factor, yes. But I would trust in the intensive and long development time from the DA50 in a serious functional product. The single engine can stop running on either planes. But it’s all about mission. Me I will never fly at night IFR in icing conditions in Mountain areas, over long distance open sea at night or other possible severe situations in single engine planes. Of course you could do so, and many pilots will do. But ridiculous to me. With the right mission in my mindset in most situations I can get off without the parachute. And I can do a belly landing in the DA50 if this might be the better option. So in my opinion there are positives all over the place in the DA50. Also in the US. Besides that, the Cirrus is parking all over the place on the ramps. The DA50 comes and will get the show. Believe me. 😊
DA50 doesn’t fit in a t hangar. Cirrus does. T hangars are everywhere in the US. No one is spending that much on a brand new plane and leaving it outside.
@@brandonadams7837 thats true. But when I see, what they charge for these things (t-hangars) to rent, I see more and more one million single engine airplanes parking outside. To rent a hangar space in many places is ridiculous expensive. Besides that, you can buy nice airplane covers for the DA 50 for outside parking including wings and tail. I know people driving up to two hours to their plane because of affordable hangar space. That’s insane. GA is going in a wrong direction anyway. So will see, what’s going on in a couple of years.
@@TheSlickpt it’s not even about the money in most regions. There is a severe shortage of hangar space everywhere. Waitlists are commonly 5-10 years long just for a t hangar.
Various sources place the starting price at 1.15m$ already in 2022 so what's the deal on the price? did they realize it was too expensive or what? Gogetair 915 version is 270k€, same speed, 4 seats, longer range, 1/3 the weight, half the fuel burn, can run on mogas meaning 1/4 fuel cost. Smaller wingspan so cheaper hangar. No deicing though afaik.
