I know Brian might not want to hear this, but: the world is a better place because he chose comedy over football. Maybe he could have been a football pro, but the years of laughter he has given us are priceless.

I think it's not that he doesn't want to hear deep compliments it's more that he is uncomfortable hearing them. His self-depreciating humor flows from his humbled personality I honestly think.

No, he wouldn't have become a football pro. The level of the NFL, even back in the late 70s, early 80s, was so much higher than normal people can even begin to imagine. I'm sure Brian was an excellent athlete in his youth but that's just a stretch to imagine him in the NFL.
I had the pleasure of seeing him in Charlotte NC in the mid 80's. He's been my favorite comedian ever since.

His staring at the sun bit and his hearing test bit are some of the most hilarious bits I've ever heard. Low key goat comedian for sure.

i can image tho that in a regular setting, group at a restaurant & u got Regan there in case something unexpected happens & u can just look at the guy & see the wheels turning, hear the comments he's thinking from those expressions,

I’ve been a huge fan of him since the first time I saw him perform! To be so incredibly funny and clean is just amazing, it really takes talent!!
Makes me feel better that even someone as successful and famous as Brian Regan still looks back at his football days so fondly. What a great sport.

I love this. Brian is hilarious and takes care of his openers and the staff where he performs. He’s the best.
The first time I saw a Brian Regan special, I laughed so hard, I was afraid I was going to have a heart attack or something.
I'd never laughed at another comedian as much, before or after.
Brian is absolutely the BEST comedian ever! I don’t know how many times we’ve watched his show at the Improv so many years ago and we actually quote some of his stuff almost daily. He makes us laugh so hard! Thank you Brian for being a CLEAN comedian who leaves us in stitches over and over again. God bless you! ❤
We quote him a lot too. "Merge! Everybody merge! I'm only imploding." "How do I get this goodness in me?" 🤣🤣 Every once in a while I'll see a RUclips comment under one of his videos where someone says he isn't funny. I give it serious thought! Then I realize that I come from the same generation and culture as Bryan. If you were to read his jokes they wouldn't be that funny. The humor is in the way that he tells the jokes, and his style may not be that funny to people from other countries, cultures, or generations. I don't know, but that's about the only explanation I have for someone who doesn't think that the most hilarious comedian on the planet isn't funny.
I've had that same dream over and over about my high school career for 15 years. Since I was 23 years old I've had a recurring dream that I'm back in high school playing offensive line. Except, I wasn't that good. I just played left tackle. But I always love that recurring dream. It is fun.
I'm 64 and I still dream about playing. I was a left tackle too.... clearly we are really smart....

I was a small-time comedy booker in Jersey back in the '80s just as Brian was poised to make it big. Now I know why he would zig and zag when he left the stage, and sometimes leveled a cocktail waitress or two. It all makes perfect sense.
I played a little ball myself in school and still 30 years later I have dreams where I am playing again and it never feels weird in the dream....always makes sense somehow.

I get tongue tied with that too except mine is when someone says "have a nice day", I often respond with "you do too" because my brain wants to say "you too" and "you do the same " at the same time and it comes out as "you do too"

As a server, I received 2 tickets to one of his shows in Houston as a tip. I got to his show late and only saw about 15 minutes. I'll gladly go and see him again.

he has been my family's favorite comedian for two decades. What a wonderful man. I like him even more now, knowing of his football prowess.
Being a comedian, or a performer in general, is enhanced by athleticism. I've been around a number of actors from regional theater and some time I spent out in LA and one of the things that always struck me is how fit and strong most of them are (and also how loud and clear their voices often are in person). Being strong physically and in training prepares you for the work and discipline of writing, of executing an action and idea clearly and cleanly. Hell, I was in a local commercial many years ago as an extra and I even noticed how elegantly and effortlessly trained actors even walk, like they're literally floating on air or like dancers. Brian Regan's trademark is consistency and professionalism and he likely learned it through sports.
That made me tear up to see him tear up watching his highlights. He's a fearless dude!

I played football at a small college as well. I have had those exact dreams off and on for years. Glad to know I’m not alone. Maybe it’s from all the concussions.
