If you'd like your brain to hurt even further, try reading through this: "Decorative Knotting Using Trigonometric Parametrizations" by By Lindsay D Taylor www.mi.sanu.ac.rs/vismath/taylor2009/index.html Full disclosure: I don't understand the math behind those loops, but it's fascinating nonetheless :)
I was so naive to think I was just gonna learn about loops when really I’m going to watch the most trippy bit or geometry, topology, math or whatever the hell this is called.
A string walked into a bar and ordered a beer. Bartender says "Get out of here, we don't serve strings." This happened a few times. The string had an epiphany: He tied himself up like a bow in a shoe and walked into the bar and ordered a drink. "Get out of here, we don't serve strings" said the bartender. Said the string "No, I'm knot". drum roll and cymbals
By the end I just sat there, speechless. Amazing. Did not realize that hyperbolic space was this closely related to knot theory. I need to delve into these topics ones I've done some more Algebraic Topology.
@@garlic_bread180 I checked their website but could only seem to find this video, the sphere video and another one (which was amazing btw). Do they have any more videos that you know of?
This reminds me of the videogame Monument Valley. The people living there had a dimension akin to a hyperbolic space, which they manipulated with their third eye and powerful artifacts. Eventually, it was that very technology that was their downfall.
While I don't have anymore knot related videos, I can share some videos related to topology! I would recommend Arnaud Chéritat (ruclips.net/channel/UCzp3-A4cjdNmeYzeTCdK1FA). The following is a link to one of my favorites, "Who cares about topology? Thank you for sharing this! I actually hadn't looked into it much, but now that you've recommended it I'll see if I can find a copy to upscale! RUclips quality is typically pretty compressed, so I may need to find a DVD or VHS release. I'll let you know if there are any updates!

From an animation perspective this looks pretty advanced for the time it was made in, it came out four years before Toy Story.
