Crystal Dunn can move into midfield as well. She can play 8 of the 11 positions. Do not worry. We are fine.
There are several players who play the 10. Horan, Lavelle, Shaw, and Bethune as an alternate. Swanson can also dip in that position if she feels like it. lol.
I’m glad you are preaching calmness. But hmm, please ask yourself, “who would Dunn bench at midfield?” Not Shaw. Not Lavelle. Not Horan. Not Albert. Not Espresso. but I’m still curious to hear your take :-)
@@AkoaMAx I did not ask the question, one of the press asked it in the video. Specifically, who would fil in for the #10 spot, i.e. who would be the backup if we needed someone else. Dunn can easily do that. I do not know if you remember how Dunn performed before she moved to fullback, but she is capable of filling in, and can compete with Albert or Coffey. She is not tall enough to do what Horan does in the air and would play that position differently. I have watched Dunn play other positions in European leagues and she is very talented and versatile. They were planning on Macario as their alternate. With Williams up front we can spell Dunn since the latter is more versatile than the former.
@@jariemonah Yes, one of the great things about this team is the versatility of key players. With a roster of 18 and games coming thick and fast, rest and recuperation require changing lineups. Macario and Williams are two very different players and hence the permutations Hayes was discussing. Emma Hayes will adjust who plays what position in each game depending on the opponent and their roster like a chess match. After the group stage she will know who has performed the best at what position and have a few days to adjust for the knockout opponent. Thus, I am sure she is now having to mix and match a completely different plan for the group stage. I am thankful she has an embarrassment of riches to choose from.
I would have called up Sanchez. She's in terrific form.
WOW!!! What sad news. I've been waiting for Macario to be in a major tournament with the USWNT. We need a creative midfielder badly. If Lavelle gets injured, which is a matter of time, we will struggle to break a low block defense again.

@@mfost8247 Watching Shaw with the Wave, I don't see a creative player. I see her as a Morgan type forward. Bethune would fill the position of attacking midfielder as a sub for Lavelle. But she's still an alternate.
@@mfost8247 No question. But I've always thought Macario wasn't exactly in form from that Korea game. They are missing one midfielder. I hope either Bethune or Hershfelt will be able to fit the shoe in the event of an injury. They felt a little bit inexperienced to me at this level. I get they need caps. Bethune currently is probably more in form than Macario.
@@StepnieW Shaw is different from Morgan. If anyone, I think Lynn Williams is more like Morgan.

ehhh, NT tried Mal in midfield a few times years ago, and she wasnt good. id pass on that. shes more important to the team in her natural position on the wing.
gutted for Cat, happy for Lynn. i can see Shaw dropping into midfield if we really need to give Rose some rest. gl USWNT.
No need to feel sorry for Cat Macário…She’ll be much needed by Chelsea in their assault on Europe this coming season! I’m sure a Champions league medal, will more than compensate her for any Olympic medal loss.
I feel like the US press are still asking questions for a previous type of coach, who feels like they need to inform. Emma will just deflect direct questions. Like any good parent of a six year old she uses distraction to shut down anything that is not what she wants to talk about.

Tierna Davidson is tall. And Naomi Girma is by far the best defender on that pitch, height be damned.

@@pdmaheshsharma I would honestly love to hear who you think would be good with the back line for USA. I do think it’s been the weak point for the US for some time now. Of course, this team being the year that we’re looking up.
