    So glad Emma said this. This is a NEW era, A NEW team, NEW identity. Ppl should stop comparing them to the past who played together for nearly a decade. The comparison is deeply unfair.
    Let THIS group of women make their own mark in this teams rich legacy.
    Not being able to let go and turn the page made us stagnant for years. With a talent pool this big, no one group of players should have 200+caps. We should be encouraging players to make their mark, then move on to make room for others. No one should just be entitled to a spot. We can’t get better that way.
    We have to let it go and make room for what is next.
    This group has some really special talented women in their own right. Im so excited for them to finally get their chance over the next few years.

    something I appreciate about emma as this team’s new coach is how clearly she understands the game and what is needed for the team to be successful in this day and age. I feel like vlatko never understood why the team was losing or what was needed for them to win. he just saw good players and put them in positions hoping that would be enough without ever thinking tactically or adapting in a game at any given time.

      I think you mean you bleed nonsense! You are no Chelsea supporter!! If you were, you would have known the frustration of Chelsea fans, who witnessed year after year the failure of their team making making an impact in Europe. All these myths about Chelsea fans crying their eyes out at Hayes departure is laughable. I was there!! In fact there was an air of excitement knowing Sonia Bompastor was officially to be Hayes replacement!

      Don’t be scared love. It’s only a game… She might even become coach to the Matilda’s someday! Wouldn’t that be exiting? Isn’t it strange that the lionesses let this fantastic, and scary coach slip from their grasp! I can’t for the life of me understand what the English FA were thinking! I guess the lionesses will just have to soldier on as best they can with Sarina Wiegman.

    16:25 Next time y'all decide to critique Emma (or any other pro coach) for her decisions, go back and LISTEN, THEN REWIND AND LISTEN AGAIN to this part of the interview. Putting together a NT roster IS NOT a popularity contest. The complexity of the factors that must be weighed is mind-blowing and far beyond our comprehension. It's okay to be upset if your favorite player didn’t get called into camp. But respect the FACT that you know and understand maybe 1% of what's going on. #YouThinkYouKnow #ButYouHaveNoIdea

    I loved Sam Mewis as a midfield playmaker. The best. As an interviewer I wish she had been more specific. The generalities made for a cliché laced set of answers.
    For example questions to ask...
    Q1... We see you retained a couple of older veterans for the defense. Since you cut Alex Morgan from the offense to pursue a youth movement why not cut these older players too?
    Q2... We see Canada used their beloved aging womens super star Sinclair at 36 to win the last Olympic competition giving her an honorable send off for all she has done for womens soccer in Canada. Why were you not willing to treat Alex Morgan the same way Canada showed love and appreciation for Sinclair?

      @shelbysmama4974 15 дней назад +1

      I both agree AND disagree. Like you, I think it was a wise decision to leave Morgan home. However, I see the possible reasoning behind it differently. While Morgan's leadership and experience is unmatched on this current squad (she would've been the only one who's won a gold medal), right now she's neither producing goals or meaningful assists at the club level (which plays a VERY important part in Emma's decisions). If she was firmly in the race for the NWSL Golden Boot, I'm 80% sure Emma would be taking her to Paris. The other 20% is also looking at the fact that with the Sonnett/Naeher exp in the back, Lavelle/Horan exp in the mid and Dunn/Swanson exp up top, perhaps even if Morgan WAS blasting out goals every wknd, the US's embarrassment of riches wouldn't have been compromised by leaving her off the roster.
