- Last fall we had a new septic system installed. This spring we had to have a new lawn installed on what was left after the septic was installed. Decided to go with hydroseeding, which is way easier than doing it by hand.
Thr building new complex near me,saw them take rocky,pine tree covered hillside strip it down to Georgia red clay and spray it wth this stuff.2weeks later looks like Easter basket grass.
I feel like this would be so fulfilling to do....almost like power washing
Looked like a lot of "prep" work to do. But you're right, the end job of spraying the mixture out onto the ground was fun to watch.

Father in law had his lawn hydro seeded and his lawn is very nice this does work hydromousse I don't believe that works as well as professional hydro seed.

Thomasina...it worked very well for me. The first year it grew quickly...not as thick as the other parts of the lawn, but over the years it's continued to grow quicker than other areas and is now just as thick. What's the difference in what these professionals are using versus say like Hydro Mousse or something similar in stores? Why does this grow and the in store version does not thanks!
Not really sure but it might have something to do with the quality of seed that they included in the spray I know that this lawn that they sprayed on for me grew quickly and I have to mow it now more often than I do other parts of my lawn

The slurry is a mixture of mulch (paper, wood pulp, straw, or a combo of), seed, fertilizer, tackifier, etc. The machine is probably around 30k+ has a mechanical agitator that can keep that really thick slurry mixed and shooting right.

The grass from the hydroseeding has grown in thicker than the rest of my lawn and (unfortunately) grows nearly twice as fast also, so I need to mow that section more often :) :) :)

And result final?
Worked great. Almost "too well" as this area grew faster and thicker than the rest of my lawn.
Do you have to water this.
The company recommended that I water it once a day for a couple of weeks. I bought a couple of sprinklers which did the job well.

Whats something like this cost.
About $2400 at the time for all the prep work, topsoil, etc., & then the actual spraying.
@@royallohnes6070 wow i thought it sappose to be cheaper then sod $240 for a pallet of sod but it only comes with 50 rolls. For tiff tuff bumuda

Christopher Ford Naturally, there’s some ++$200.00*5 months of water. Laying sod, I suppose you could do it yourself. 50 rolls x 40lbs each will wear 1 man out. Hydroseed team, you’re getting great value in the tradesmen 👷🏼♂️👷🏽♂️👷🏻♂️ the use of their team is easily worth $1500.
💧Water||$200/MO * 5mo = $1,000
👷🏼♂️Labor ||$500/EA x 3 = $1,500
🧩Sod || $250/EA x 1 = $2,750 Total

How much did it cost?
We needed about 3/4 of an acre done. I paid a little over $700, but that included them bringing in all the needed topsoil and smoothing it out before the actual spraying started. It takes a little care on your part (watering, etc.) after the job is done, but right now my only complaint a few years after is that the grass they gave me grows TOO fast and I have to mow it more often than the other parts of the property.

Sounds like a great price for all the work involved.
just a little over $700, but I"m sure the price varies a great deal depending on what part of the country you live in. I consider it money well spent because I would have spent months getting done what they did for me. Aside from the actual hydroseeding, they raked all the stones and covered the area with topsoil before the actual application.
Royal Lohnes,......$700..? Are you sure? 3/4 acre is around 33,000 sq ft. The mulch and the seed cost more then that. Material cost of the mulch and seed alone on 3/4 acre will cost the company around $1000.00.
Woops....reading your reply, I dug back through receipts and found the invoice. Boy, what was I thinking? It was more like $2400, which also included the raking, the topsoil, etc. Not sure why I was remembering that lower figure. Sorry for the confusion.

The area that I had hydroseeded grows much quicker than the surrounding areas. I had to do a little bit of watering initially, but after that it's grown in pretty quickly and was well worth the investment.
How much was the investment?
