  • This is a BASIC Girl's lacrosse field layout and rules 101. I made this for my new players, as well as parents who may have never played lacrosse at all, or maybe played boys and aren't really too sure what all the differences are.
    Understanding the game will:
    A) Make it more fun to play and watch
    B) Keep parents from yelling things excitedly from the sidelines that they may not have fully understood.
    C) Allow a better on-field strategy
    D) Give you an edge over those who are just faking the funk
    Full Disclaimer: For those of you experts out there that can sharp shoot me, please don't. I made this in one take. The critical scoring area and setting up 8 meter free shots is obviously more involved than I covered here.
    There are a couple things I didn't cover, like out of bounds rules and whistles stopping the clock inside of the final 2 minutes, etc. I just wanted to cover the high points for parents. A couple of things I could definitely clarify, and even expound upon, but this is something I would have loved to see when my daughter first started playing.

    I think its great that you are doing a video like this for parents and new players. One thing that should be corrected is that in the girl's game, the circle around the goal is NOT the crease, it is a goal circle. Just an FYI

    The 8 meter is the arc, the 12 is the fan.

      Yes that's true and I caught that after I recorded it. This was just a word goof. It happens sometimes when I'm coaching. As I said in the description, I made it in one take. You aren't wrong, though.

    Does the clock stop after a score? Great vid! Thanks.

    • @sandhillslacrosseassociati5674
      @sandhillslacrosseassociati5674  3 года назад +3

      No it doesn't until inside of the last 2 min of each half. This is a major difference from boys lacrosse where the time stops after out of bounds and after every goal until the point differential is met, then the clock doesn't stop. For girls, the clock won't stop inside of the 2 min if a point differential is met. (Used to be called the murder rule). Good question!

      I forgot to add that the officials will stop the clock for an injury or an officials time out, as well

      It does stop, then you go back to serve off again, and the clock doesn’t start until you are a actually in gameplay.

    Varsity Level Lax is not a running clock except for 10 point differential or now as of 2022 last two minutes of each half and in OT

      I made this 2 years ago. Please update it for me!! It would be a huge help. I'm crazy busy coaching on the boys side now and haven't had a chance. If you record one I'll throw it up on here
