I have always considered Jimmie Nicol a "Fifth Beatle". In 1965, after filling in for Ringo, Jimmie joined a Swedish Instrumental band called The Spotnicks, similar to the Ventures and The Shadows, as their drummer. He was with them for 2 years and can be seen on the cover of The Spotnicks In Tokyo, from 1966, which is also on Spotify.
Good stuff! He's more popular than I ever realized.
Clever topic, well-executed!!
That Stu Sutcliffe recording actually turned out to be a fake, I'm surprised it's still up on Spotify!
He's bummed to learn this, but glad someone mentioned it.
Great job, Sutter.. I would agree with you about Stu Sutcliffe., however, when Pete Best joined the Beatles, Stu Sucliffe was already the fourth Beatle. so he can never be the 5th Beatke. Pete Best became the 5th beetle when he joined. He is the ultimate fifth Beatle. Stuart is the ultimate forth Beatle. After Stuart left the group Klaus Vooman was actually hoping he would become the 5th Beatle to replace Stuart. But Paul was done with friends being in the band. Your choice of Tony Sheridan was also good. In 1961 the Beatles asked Tony Sheridan to join the Beatles. In 1969 John Lennon, as you may have heard on the Disney 'Get-Back' special, asked Billy Preston to join the Beatles. All of your choices were great! I am not really a fan of George Martin. So for me, he was never a 5th beetle, but more of a 5th wheel. Also, great job tripping up your dad with Delaney, Bonnie and friends. 😂 You are the master! Keep up the great work, Sutter and Dad.
Yoko as the fifth Beatle. I cannot stop laughing. But yes, porbably she was.
She definitely had an impact...just not sure if good or bad, haha.
My favorite Billy Preston song is That's the Way God Planned it.
I believe Doug Dillard one of “the Dillards” aka “the Darlings” from the Andy Griffith show was in the bluegrass scene
Appreciate the info!
This kid knows about Klaus Voormann? What, is this boy born 2000 years old? I mean, Voormann isn't that obscure, but the boy mentioned Harry Nilsson, Voorman did the sexy horn arrangements on "Ambush" on the Nilsson Shmilson album, bass too, Carly Simon, et, al.
I'm impressed at how erudite he is at this age. He'll be a musicologist in . . . one year?
Hi Jordan, glad you asked about Doug Dillard. Doug is an American musical treasure. He was an incredible Banjo player and one of the greats of bluegrass music, his impact on music is tremendous. His band, The Dillards gained national attention first on The Andy Griffith show in the 60s. The band toured with The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, and were tremendously influential in the country rock scene. Recommend first listen to The Dillards: I've Just Seen A Face (Beatles cover) on the Wheatstraw Suite album from '68 (it's on Spotify) 😊
Thanks! I just looked him up as well.
Wow. Great song! ruclips.net/video/PIeypMABI8s/видео.html
Don't forget about this cover by George Harrison

@@nouveaudemarrer9128 great song!!
don't forget Clapton!
Yes! Remember Clapton played lead guitar on While My Guitar Gently Weeps!
I personally think George Martin was the fifth Beatles to me because he contributed a lot of the times to The Beatles by helping them make some other music.
I would add Eric Clapton, as one of the 5th Beatles. He played guitar on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," The White Album.
Yeah, he seems like an omission to this list.
@@KnowYourMusicShow It didn't occur to me until I was listening to Badge, by Cream, that George Harrison and Eric Clapton spent time together; George wrote my most favorite song since I was 3 years old, "Here Comes the Sun," at Eric's place in England. That song inspired me to be a drummer! Back to The Beatles, let's talk more about me!!! LOL! Clapton, was involved with the Beatles, perhaps a little more than has been documented. I'll leave that to you. To your dad: How did you produce such a precocious young man? What was your reaction? Did you wonder about it? Were your interests in music and are you yourself a musician and if not, how did your son become the audiophile he is?
I realize the definition Sutter uses to describe a "fifth" Beatles is loose, but to me the fifth Beatle would be someone who either was actually a member at one point, or under consideration to be a member, or, in the case of George Martin, was literally instrumental in a vast number of their recordings. Stuart Suttcliffe and Pete Best were indisputably members of the band, and were actual Beatles at one point. BTW, I somehow missed the Suttcliffe release of "Love Me Tender" until I saw this video. Wow! If it is him, that's a turuly rare find. There is some dispute over its legitimacy, I've learned in my quick research, which also revealed the Suttcliffe estate stands by the veracity of the recording. Billy Preston was considered to be a "fifth" Beatle of a sort by the members, themselves, so that works for me. Yoko? Well, her voice was used on a few Beatles tracks, but I wouldn't go so far as to call her a "Beatle." Ravi Shankar influenced George, but ditto in regards to him, as well as Klaus Voorman. Considering inspirations, guest artists, and studio musicians as members is a slippery slope. Were The Wrecking Crew members of all the bands and such they recorded for? Yes, Billy Preston was a guest artist, but again, even the Beatles themselves remarked about him possibly becoming a part of the band. In any event, this was a nice idea for a video, Sutter! Well done!
Thanks for watching, as always!
Rest in peace martin, epstein, sutcliffe & preston.
Gone but not forgotten.
You should do a review of the Love Album. It's a fantastic compilation album by George Martin. A masterpiece in my book.
I agree. But also do a review of The Rutles' LUNCH album

We've done The Rutles before but maybe not that album. Good recommendation!
Dad playing dumb 😅
Jeff Lynne?
Yes, thank you!
Does seem like he should have made the list.
Doug Dillard was a famous banjo player who played with Harry Nilsson. Hope this helps.

Definitely helps! We should probably do more research, but don't need to with great viewers who can fill us in!
How is Yoko Ono a Beatle at all?
John pretended she was. He even insisted she be part of many group photos.
By Sutter's definition she did some background vocals on a track or something. But yeah.
". . . by Tommy Tucker." LOL. Yep. Did yer research!
