Will the MISTer ever be able to silent boot directly to a game when powering on, but not have any boot up text before the game loads? Or is that just not something the MISTer will ever do, and would require a totally different FPGA device?
@@beefquiche From what I heard, the direct booting to a game is an option. But getting rid of the MISTer's boot up text before the game is not. If that has changed, I'd love to see a vid or confirmation, cause I'll jump on the MISTer in a second if true.
@@beefquiche Arcade games. I don't know enough about the MISTer yet to say what cores specifically or the details. Basically what I'm wanting to do is place a MISTer in an arcade cabinet and have it boot up directly to a game and look exactly like that JAMMA game board powering on. Currently doing that with my Pi 3 and Pi 4.
@@beefquiche Depends on the jamma board, but yeah. My UMK3 (and many Midway games) has this boot up screen and rom chip diagnostic process before the game starts. But in MAME or FBNeo, it starts directly to the game. So I'm setting my Pi 4 up to have a video splash screen of the UMK3 jamma board's ROM boot up screen. Only difference is 5 seconds of black screen before that. But unless you know what to look for, the average player won't be able to tell. With my Street Fighter 2 CE running off my Pi 3, I was just going to leave it black til the game loaded. But decided to put a screencap of the WINNERS DON'T USE DRUGS screen. The people who came over and played it during Superbowl and Wrestlemania didnt even notice it was a Pi3 until I told them.
@beefquiche I remember some early versions of MAME or the roms load it. But mu guess is it's not part of the actual game and part of the midway boards power on self test or something like that.

I don't want an illegal bootleg of a Terasic board. I hope that the customs in the US will take care of it as soon as it gets shipped
Which part is illegal? Clearly you know more than the guy making and selling them.
It's not an illegal bootleg
From what I know Terasic is using an Intel reference design meant for development. So anyone can make a device from that reference design.
