It was me, Sal. Years ago, I left a comment for an Amalgam Back Issues on the Ms. Marvel 7 episode of Off the Rack, and then worked for years to get the idea into Dan Slott's head to make Spider-Boy. Leading to Marvel and DC having to talk about Amalgam, releasing those joint Omnibuses, and eventually that news finding its way to your ears.
In all seriousness, I am beyond excited. It feels like a holiday! Woohoo!

The Amalgam of Superman and Captain America was a pretty neat idea. Basically using salvaged Kryptonian tech and DNA to create Captain America. Plus, I like the name Super Soldier.
I still say "All New All 52 Darkclaw" was the best the character's ever been
If we do get another amalgam, hopefully we are spared from the Darkclaw who laughs.

I thought that DCWL was a good villain when he first showed up in the “M is for Metal” crossover, but I agree that he’s gotten way too overused lately. Honestly, Dark Claw’s overexposure has really been hurting the Amalgam brand by stealing the spotlight from characters like Wonder Storm and the Teen Champions.

I never thought about it but Wolverine collects teen sidekicks just as much as Batman. The Jubilee/Robin thing had me rolling. 🤣
Clearly when they were designing these characters they went off of popularity. Hawkman and Wolverine would have been a better match. Both had Swiss cheese memories, both have strange metal. They both lived long lives and hots for redheads.
But does hawkman have a secondary secret identity?

Was so weird when Laura went back to having a book called X-23 and using that as her title pre-Krakoa when a year earlier she had been Wolverine. And went back to it in Krakoa cause it made no sense to use X-23 a decade after she left the name behind.

Poor Ethan at 18:20 thinking that there was some semblance of order to amalgam to keep characters from being reused. Clearly, he did not purchase packs of Amalgam Cards growing up! Otherwise he would be aware that there are two Batman derivatives! Dark Claw, and, separately, Bruce Wayne, Agent of Shield.

That intro is freaking fantastic I love it so much great job guys and great episode of back issues of dark claw this was amazing and tons of fun.
I hope one day you're able to discuss Superman: Peace on Earth, Batman: War on Crime, Shazam!: Power of Hope, Wonder Woman: Spirit of Truth, JLA: Secret Origins, or JLA: Liberty and Justice. Any one of these is great and the Alex Ross art is perfection. I think the messages these stories tell are important and worth checking out.

In the spirit of celebrating Amalgam Comics, here's a list of some of my own ideas for Amalgam characters (feel free to reply with your own ideas!):
- *Detective Duck, aka Howard:* a talking duck from another universe who ended up stranded in our own long ago, with the will (and the bill) to sniff out crime wherever he finds it.
- *Blue Spider, aka Jaime Morales:* a high schooler from Metropolis bonded to a mysterious alien parasite, summoned by FiskCorp in an attempt to replicate Spider-Boy's powers. Now with Spider-Boy himself seemingly dead after a fateful confrontation with Alexander Fisk, Jaime must live up to the hero's legacy and become the hero his city needs him to be.
- *Sekhmet, aka Jean-Paul Spector:* a vigilante raised by the Order of Khonshu to be their soldier of the night, who temporarily took up the mantle of Dark Claw after the hero's spine was broken by Juggerbane.
- *Shock-Moth, aka Drury Schultz:* not really much else to explain with this one.
Miss Lantern: Jessica Khan has a cosmic bracelet that allows her to make constructs out of solid light--oh, wait, they already did that one

This is one of my favorite episodes. I'm that weirdo that un-ironically loved MvsDC, Amalgam, and All Access. As a kid I only ever got All Access #1 and a handful of the MvsDC books. As an adult I collected all of it. Some of it I really love, Assassins, and some of it not so much, Dark Claw. Love this episode and the live for the books!
I think this might be hands down one of the funniest episodes yet!
I’ve been trying to re-collect all the amalgam books for a while now, they came out when I was a little boy and my dad and uncles were so hyped for it.
You guys were a great klondike ad, i grabbed a few from the store after watching this episode, now my life is better than before, and i didn’t need to have my father die or break another person’s heart

The loudest audible laugh was heard from me when Sal made the comment about ensign Lynch. I immediately got the reference. First Contact is one of my favorite movies and my brother and I constantly quote that scene. I was already a fan of ComicPop, But I just became a Forever Fan. Literally still smiling and laughing as I type this.
I preordered my amalgam omnibuses from my local comic book store. After I found out from you they were being released months ago. Thank you for keeping me updated on what is being released.

You know a thought just occurred to me when you guys brought up, who did the sparrow costume memorial belong to in Dark Claws cave? What if it belonged to an amalgamated version of Jason Todd and Amiko Koboyashi (the young orphan girl from Japan that Wolverine adopted? ) because then it merges perfectly because they are two orphaned, temperamental street urchins who lost their parents to crime?
I genuinely loved Kurt Busiek's Iron Lantern. The mash-up origin made as much sense as anything from Amalgam, and the single issue had me wishing there was actually a whole series to read 😄

Seeing this made my day, I'm the only one of my friends who's ever enjoyed Amalgam stuff, and while it's ridiculous there's definitely something fun about it. Totally picking up those omnibuses, and looking forward to the next episode! I hope you guys do Spider-Boy, because that amalgam is a helluva trip.
I love these thorough breakdowns of comic history and that POV of what it was like at that time and the head spaces everyone was in. Would love one of these to cover Cable and his weird history. (Yes I have been watching X-Men '97 lol)

This episode got incredibly funny, especially toward the end when Sal was mocking the Shakespearean drama. I haven't laughed that hard at a Back Issues episode in...weeks?
I just need to post a general thank you for this series. I gave up superhero comics in the early 2000s cos I was getting cynical about how any big change was always temporary (and annoyed when I found out how work-for-hire works). This series has been great for validating my decisions to miss out on some stuff while pointing out the stuff I do wanna see, and I haven't had to wade through a thousand comics with long-discarded storylines to get to them, so thanks. ❤
