Those Thomas Props were from a live arena tour called "The Big Live Tour" (later going by a different name) that toured the UK from 2003 - 2006, After 2006 the props weren't seen again until they were discovered to be at Greenham Nuclear in 2018. Its amazing that you managed to get video of them, thanks very much for sharing!
I want to find thomas’ face, and the remaining models. I wonder if Drayton Manor would them and have them at the expedition. Probably not, but i wanna see em
These cold war era sites are fascinating. Would loved to have seen them when they were active bases. Thanks for another very interesting explore Matt. 😎
Thomas Tank engine was at Shepperton Studios in early 2000s at the same time I saw it outside, red dwarf was being also being filmed that day and saw the cast having breakfast in the canteen, oh and also the six wheel futuristic truck from the TV series UFO was also parked outside looking a little sorry for wear or a truck that looked like it.
You cracked me up rolling Thomas' eyes, excellent explore. I bet that tank would run if the batteries are good. Imagine charging the tank at the security caravan and the look on the blokes face!
@@AmusedAnimatorStudiosyeah Thomas’s model was scrapped in 2018 while James and Percy are at the AG Tyre Recycling collection and we saw James’s tender, Harold, Jack, and Gordon

Thomas and Budgie are actually de commisioned nuclear weapons. Thomas was designed to fit the same gauge of rails that run through Europe and would have been "launched" 2 weeks ahead of any Russian attack, the idea being that he could make himself useful along the way doing shunting duties before reaching the detonation area. The helicopter sadly failed its flight trials on account of the solid windows that the pilots could not see out of. Westland had the contract for these (although Heseltine did object at the time) and as a last resort could be carried on a Wessex and dropped over the target zone. Great pieces of cold war history there lads - thanks for sharing.
Time: 24:40 OH FOR THE LOVE OF THE REVEREND WILBERT AWDRY GET YOUR TONGUE AWAY FROM GORDON'S EYE!!!!!! (Oh the Indignity the Level of Disrespect to One of the Greatest Thomas Characters of all Time...)
The wheel sets you see at 33:18 are called “Mobilizers”, and are attached to large vans-communications, command and control, etc, that are hooked on either side of the vans to move them to there next locations. It takes a dozen or so able bodied men to manhandle them into place, after which the whole lot is connected to a hitch on a 5 ton truck, 2.5 ton, or the tracked vehicle parked in the shelter.
The Thomas props were on eBay a while ago, got removed suddenly, I’ll have to check my screen shots but I think they were pictured on site there. Buyer collects - like I say they had a lot of crap about selling them and the condition Etc they deleted them and I’m guessing they are still there rotting away! More I think of it I think the stage props were also for sale for stupid money
Hi Matt great splore as usual but that ford maverick at 1:08:24 L9 FMC I'm sure that was used in a ford advert FMC being Ford Motor Company. Anyway the DVLA says it's SORN so it still belongs to somebody. If only it could talk because it's not the car that sticks in my head it's that NO. plate I know I know it from somewhere. Mabey the Ford school at Daventry or the motor show, does it ring any bells with anyone?
Greenham Common airfield was used as a filming location for the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens and 2017 film Star Wars: The Last Jedi. You seem to get into almost anywhere Matt no matter how much deterrent they put between you and what you want to see. Why do I get the feeling that one of these days you are going to walk into somewhere like this and find something you shouldn't because they thought no one could get in.
Great video as always mate. A bit of context, Greenham Common is being used for a number of productions as a location. Star Wars has filmed there and you can see the silos in The Force Awakens. Not sure what the deal is with Thomas and friends but no doubt, either for a movie or kids event. Cheers
When you looped around past the Vauxhalls, that was the former WW2 bomb storage area. Visiting there after the USAF had moved out, as far as I recall, all the silos were open. The hangars were also just as they left them. Even name plates still on the office doors along the walkways. I don’t believe all the silos were fully operational; they just appeared to be.
All Thomas character,s that were there, gorden, harold, Annie and clarebell, jack, (I think i got them all) (also sorry if I spelled a name wrong). Actually now that I look at it, I think that the thing on the inside that I thought was either Annie or clarebell,s actually a tender for a locomotive.
Superb SV explore, its a shame you couldn't get in the control rooms and other bunkers etc well at least until they make the site safe for a national trust site and rip off the general public to go see what belongs the nation. It good documentation this video.
What a lovely day for jan/feb 🤨😏😄 For a place that has been listed as a historic monument etc - they were a bit quick to start with the cutting torches - surely you would want it to stay as much like it did as possible ?!? 😕Great vid Maybe should have waited till the end of the vid before making my comment as I see Matt you make the same point!
