The sound of spring peepers is one of my favorites.

Nice job! I really enjoyed watching your video. I do a lot of solo backpacking and peak bagging. When I watched you slip and go down in that creek, it reminded me why I’m always grateful when I emerge from one of my adventures unscathed. Your caption at the end, describing that fall, is the best advice for solo water crossings. Don’t go barefoot, but just plow through with your shoes/boots on. Best to take your insoles out and socks off first. Keep doing your “therapy!”

Thanks so much for watching the video! Yeah, that fall was not fun for sure, really need to be more careful.
That's cool you do some peak bagging, I've done a little of that in the Catskills.
Taking your insoles out and socks is great advice! Thanks!
Thanks again for taking the time to leave a comment! It means a lot! 😊

Great Video. My daughter and I hiked to sones pond from route 220. Ya shoulda shown some of the hard steep parts from the pond to the parking lot. The trail is hard. We enjoyed the journey

No fires I think because of wild fire risk. Essentially spring and fall when humidity is low and temperatures are relatively high

Thanks for checking out the video! Yeah, that makes sense. The last thing I want to do is cause a forest fire!

Also, there are no leaves on the trees yet, and the sun dries out the forest floor. - Thanks for your videos!

Loved the video. I had just driven through this area and Sones pond is great. I haven’t done much hiking/camping so I have a few questions. What was the small guide you were looking at that had mile by mile info of the trail? Also, can you just camp anywhere along the trail? What is the protocol if you had come up to one of the sites and someone was already there? Thanks!

The guide I was using was the official Loyalsock Trail guide which I purchased from the Keystone Trails Associations website. (Lots of Pennsylvania guides can be purchased there)
So there are some areas on the LT that you are not allowed to camp. I believe there is a 6 mile section where it's not allowed. I think that was the longest stretch. Most of the LT you are allowed to set up camp no problem.
Just read the guide book when you take breaks and know where you are on the trail.
The App "All Trails" is really helpful also, I strongly recommend getting it.
So, if you come up to a camp you were planning to stay and someone is already there, if it is a big area with lots of flat spots for tents (or trees for hammocks)
simply ask politely if they wouldn't mind if you camp there.
If you get a bad feeling (which doesn't happen very often in my experiences) simply move on and keep hiking. You will find a spot to set up your tent. It doesn't have to be a designated campsite, just a flat spot where you can set up your tent.
It happens from time to time where you don't get the campsite you want but you adapt and make it work.
You can plan your day where you get to your desired campsite early so you have a better shot of nailing it down.
      Hope this helps, happy trails!

Any animal issues on this trail? I lived in Williamsport in the late 89’s and black bears were common. Worked too many hours on my 3 year tour there and didn’t get to hike the LT. may come and do it now based on your great video

I didn't see any black bears on that trip but we had a bear come into camp up near Sones pond a few years back when a friend and I were car camping.
Definitely hike the LT! I'll probably hike it again I'm sure.

Thanks again for checking out the video! I'm pleased with my Waymark pack. There is no frame so you have to pack your gear a certain way which is no big deal.. Not a lot of bells and whistles, nice and simple.
