I've heard good things about this reel. Price is more than I usually spend on a reel too. Between this one, and the Zillion, if I had to choose one, I'd choose the Zillion. Appreciate the bank view reel performance video.👊

I will say Daiwa and Lew’s and definitely up there for great reels. Anyone wanted to get their first baitcaster, Lews LFS. Best $100 reel on the market. If you wanna spend the extra money, get a Daiwa. I’ve heard the Lew’s BB1 is a great cranking reel but I don’t have one so I can’t say anything

How does the newer hypermag compare to the previous generation of the hypermag? I have the older one and love it!
Both long casting reels, but the newer one definitely has more control.

Yup this yr in pa had been tough me and my buddy haven’t caught much of anything I’ve been on a drought this whole month… I’m not sure what’s been going on between the ponds and lakes I fish there no grass where usually they get over loaded idk if that has something to do with it or what and it’s not like I’m seeing dead fish to think something up with the water so I have no clue

I have a 21 zillion and the previous gen hyper mag. The hyper mag casts farther and is smoother. The zillion skips better for me.

Hypermag is a serious reel. It’s definitely up there with the daiwas and Shimano. The brand warriors will fight for theirs no matter what. I just like trying gear.

Ya TJ that was a pretty color bass u caught. I enjoy watching bank fishing videos since I dont have a boat yet. I have been thinking of possibly getting a go pro etc to record my fishing. Your camera system is very clear picture, good lens zoom and voice clarity. What brand & model do you use to record your fishing?

Hypermags are decent reels but not even close to a zillion. Daiwa makes the best reels on the planet and it’s not even close.
Don't get me wrong, the zillion is my favorite reel to date, but the Hypermag is definitely a contender! 👊💪
The last Legs I had maybe three years ago.
The plate for the magnetic drag system once again fell off this time into the water. Luckily it was only two feet deep
I took the reel home put the magnetic control about half way and super glued the plate back on and gave it to my neighbor who was short on money but wanted a baitcaster to try out for the first time. Heck of a reel when the plate stayed on.
Or a Lews rather than Legs. Dang spell check

Lews did have a awesome customer service. I haven't needed them in 2 or 3 years but they repaired a reel for me and didn't charge me. Also I had bought a used Lews and needed a part for it, they sent it to me and again never charged me. Very polite, very quick turn around on the reel, and the parts. As far as the cover coming off obviously something wasn't right. Either the catch was broke or it wasn't being completely on. I have a ton of Lews reels and I never have had one fall off once much less twice. I bet had you sent it to Lews they would have fixed it.

I hope you're not paying $350 for a Bantam. $220 or less is pretty much the going rate. Of course the Metanium is only about $20 more
@@helotaxi the new bantam runs 399$ plus lol smh. The older model or a used one might be bought for around 225$ 😂. Idk where you get your numbers at but they are wrong. I've literally shopped every location on the internet to compare prices of the new bantam 😂.

I think your out of your mind. Lews couldn't give Daiwa a shoe shine and do it right! They continue to play catch up!!!
Don't get me wrong, the Zillion is still my favorite reel to date, but I do believe the Hypermag is definitely a contender...we shall see! 👊💪
Lews has been doing some major leaps with the new breaking systems and the spool bearing upgrades. Lews is now in the top three best reel brands and 100% contends with daiwa. Now shimano I don't think either compares to them as far as some aspects of the reels. And I'm not a fan boy of any brand I just like testing gear 😂.
@blind_eye_fishing I wa t to say this upfront. Lews doesn't make a reel that's as smooth or mechanically tight as a Daiwa. If you think they do, then buy their junk. I'll stick with my Daiwas thank you!
@@floydmayes4924 I own a few daiwa reels and none come close to being as smooth as a shimano and all are about the same as my cheap 100$ lews lol. Daiwa is great with the best breaking system and ease of use but most get geary after a few months no matter how well you take care of them. The shimano curado mgl out casts and is smoother than the more expensive daiwa reels lol. Imo daiwa is king of spinning gear but shimano is a very close second. Shimano is baitcast king with daiwa and lews right behind them. Lews has came a long way in the last 2 or 3 years with huge leaps in breaking, smoothness and casting on their premier and even some cheaper reels. 13 fishing reels I own are smoother and out cast the daiwas I own 🤣. Daiwa hasn't made any real great upgrades in years. They stick to what they know. Now they are king if the bfs reels atm but that's it and daiwa has reels from Asian brands right on their heels. I've been testing gear for over 20 years and bass fishing 35 years lol you can't pull the wool over my eyes like you can other people. I also have worked on those same reels for 20 plus years. I know the ins and outs of the reels. Daiwa needs to do some upgrades to keep competing with the latest tech ftom other reel manufacturers including lews. Like I said I'm no fan boy seems you are though lol I say it like it is through experience with about 15 to 20 different brands under my belt. Btw you need to check some pros reviews comparing reels they agree with me.
I got a 22 zillion and a 23 metanium… shimano is far and above better, spinning reels wise I prefer diawa
I agree Shimano is good but lew's has become great my opinion I've used there cheap there expensive an love everthing ive used rods an reels

@@TackleJunky81 yeah nobody is buying the USDM when you can get the JDM to your door faster than TW and for over $100 less.
@@chootum8295 technically doesnt the JDM Zillion use different slightly different internals though? I have only used the us version though
@@user-qq1wp2zz1l JDM zillion uses an aluminum alloy gear and pinion vs brass in the USDM variant. JDM is made in Japan and USDM in Thailand. I own 3 JDMs and 1 USDM and they feel identical. As to wear in the aluminum gears, it’s a non issue for me. I fish them hard with heavy braid and big sticks in Florida and none of my JDMs are wearing. If you want to you can change the gearing to brass for $60 and still be cheaper than the USDM.
@@user-qq1wp2zz1l Aluminum gears in the JDM ZIllion. Being that they use full module gears, aluminum gears isn't nearly the hinderance that it was on the older Metanium DC. The Steez uses aluminum gears and I haven't heard anyone complaining about durability on those.
