Hey Martyn, now that is a fly I could fish. I wonder, I don't use Mylar unless I have to. If I use real tinsel for the tag, can I still turn it back and tie over it to use it as a rib? Thanks for sharing. I have only been tying flies as a hobby for about 4 years now. So I am I think at an intermediate stage. I do tie butterflies for fun and gifts and I would say that is edging on advanced. All the best, Sean
It gets away from me almost every time I use it. If I have to use a color I use hackle pliers to make sure I don't run off the end and it all unravels. Frustrating for me. I do better with the metal stuff. I do use it when I have to thought. Mostly for colors needed in a pattern. Thanks, So I should make the tag, and remove and re-tie. Right? Sean

The tinsel will be difficult to fold if it's actual metal tinsel. If you use quality mylar it's still reasonably robust.
