This looks like a terrific pattern. I plan to tie some up soon. Our midge hatches should start up soon and I can hardly wait to use this fly. Thank you so much for these tutorials. I have learned a great deal from them.
This is a fantastic looking fly, and a great idea. I am no where near this creative. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoy this pattern. All the best, Sean
I suppose and advantage of using a hackle "loop"(hair or feather) instead of a piece of quilled feather is you can CUT the size of hackle you want rather searching for the correct length feather/quill piece. The hair is nice because it is so buoyant too!
Hi Barry, You are so good! Fun to watch. Any videos or tips on how you get the deer hair or CDC so neatly into the plastic clip? In order to tie this I think I need to know how to accomplish that. Thank you again!
Barry: I’ve watched several of your videos and noticed that you are tying on hooks that are larger than I would expect some of the patterns to be tied on. Do you do this so they are more visible on the video?
Hi FT, Thats correct, the way I film is also from POV so if I go onto smaller hooks the camera has to be closer to the vice and gets in the way of tying. What I try and show with the videos is techniques that you can apply to the hook size that you require.
Hi Barry I love your videos! One question about this pattern, where did you get the polystyrene balls ? and which type of mesh are you using. Thanks a lot.
Very neat hair hackle, spreading so nicely. Thank you!
Thanks!
Thanks Barry, an amazing piece of engineering, well done...
Glad you enjoyed it Brian.
That is a nice fly I like the way the deer here is put on

Correct! you can trim hair to any length required.
nice fly tankiou Barry
Merci Guy.
Could only get ball size of between 6 to 8 . No smaller
I like that just not sure about the polystyrene ball n tights
The ball makes it float all day long, but you can substitute the tights for stockings or a balloon!
@@Thefeatherbender I use foam it looks much better and floats all day all the best for 2023 and tightlines.

Hi Rob, Thanks! I'll publish one later this week.
@@Thefeatherbender Awesome thank you! The CDC seems like it would be particularly hard to work with. Looking forward to it!
i guess you could put a bit of colour on the top of the foam.
If you wish, but I see the white ok at a distance.
What sizes can this fly be tied
Just about any size that you like!
What was the name of the ball, please. Thank you. Tight lines🐛🕷️🐜!!!!!
It's just a Polystyrene ball.

How big of a polystyrene ball to use
Depends on the hook size but normally about 5 mm.
Thanks and appreciated
Hi Barry I love your videos! One question about this pattern, where did you get the polystyrene balls ? and which type of mesh are you using. Thanks a lot.
Hi Josep, Thanks, the small polystyrene balls are from a hobby shop or from a 'bean bag' the mesh is Nylon stocking or tights.
Thanks, I will try this pattern for sure!
Barry, how about CDC instead of deerhair?
Hi Nick, yes of course but I just wanted to show how deer hair can be used for this.
nifty
Thanks
