I saw that kiddie pool is available this week in Aldi's for 9 bucks. Very tempted to get one and make a pond. I'm afraid it'll freeze into an ice cube during winter and kill the insects though (in USDA zone 7)
We finally acquired a kiddie pool and are currently digging a hole. Bucketponds, do you think putting tadpole in with the mosquito fish would be sure death for the tadpoles? We want to raise some frogs but also combat mosquito larva.
I love this! I'm thinking about using a fully buried pool or potentially a pond liner to make a mini vernal pool, and then adding either triops cancriformis eggs, or local fairy shrimp and ostracods. If all goes well, it will seasonally dry in late summer then fill with snow melt, attracting various amphibians and insects.
Very cool. And I don’t know about the others, but I don’t support you for a shoutout (although it’s very kind of you), so a list is fine. And no recognition is fine to. I joined to support what you are doing. Thanks for taking us along
Hey thanks Clay! This pond will take a good year or so before it's fully finished. We'll look at it again as things settle and grow out. I go out there daily and play with the flowers in hope of a future hybrid (assuming it's possible) And thank you for your support, engagement, everything. Brainstorming ideas for new projects, sharing the occasional frustrations and things with you and the other members. That's helped us do better and I am grateful
Awesome video! I have a bigger plastic kiddie pool with a stair ramp that I want to turn into a pond, unfortunately one side has a crack so looking into using it with a pond liner.

Why the hell is he wearing a stupid mask in his backyard?
Hey Jerry! The mask actually helps a LOT with gnats. Making me impervious to their attacks, while maintaining a stylish ninja aesthetic.
