- Welcome to another trip report!
On September 28, I flew a Canadian North 737-300 Combi from Edmonton, AB to Inuvik, NWT with stops in Yellowknife, NWT and Norman Wells, NWT.
Canadian North is an airline headquartered in Calgary, Alberta that operates scheduled passenger services to communities in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Since I flew this flight in September 2019, this was right before their merger with First Air was completed (11-1-19). According to their new combined website, benefits of the merger include:
A choice of early morning and mid-afternoon departures between Ottawa and Iqaluit.
Same-day connections from Ottawa to all communities we serve within the Qikiqtani.
Daily connectivity between Cambridge Bay, Gjoa Haven, Taloyoak and Kugaaruk in both directions as well as new daily southbound connections from Gjoa Haven, Taloyoak and Kugaaruk to Edmonton via Yellowknife.
Daily 737-200 Combi service between Yellowknife and Cambridge Bay, augmented by daily turbo-prop flights.
I luckily also flew First Air on this trip for my flight to Yellowknife. That trip report should be uploaded on Monday!
I want to thank Gayle & Geri for the amazing Northern hospitality, you two were the coolest flight attendants I've ever had the opportunity to meet. Thanks for the snacks too! :)
I hope you enjoy the video!

Glad you enjoyed your trip! See you again soon.
so the Old logo you ahd it is similar to the tv company Nevada!
You choose some unique aircraft and destinations that most of us would never otherwise get to experience. Canadian North looks awesome. And I continue to be in awe of your photographic skills which are outstanding for one so young. Thank you Quintin!
this route reminds me of my early days of jet travel...stops along the way....i miss that
It never....stopped?
@@EvanAviator ...i agree ...remembered the old days...TWA, NorthWest
@@EvanAviator thanks evan....keep flying✈✈✈✈👍
DL Brittain sub to my channel
You have flown to more Canadian airports than 95% of Canadians! Thanks for the work in profiling some of our lesser known destinations and airlines!
It’s weird see myself unloading the bags from the aircraft then seeing my flight leaving. I am the a charge hand on the Canadian North dash 8 106. Great video sir.
Greetings from Alaska to our Arctic brothers over on the Canadian side in Yukon and Northwest Territories
When you think your reports can‘t get any better, you‘re invited into a 737-300/Combi Cockpit. Outstanding dude!!!! ❤️❤️✈️✈️
I was born & raised in Inuvik, I think the best time to come to our community is during our Muskrat Jamboree festival, this year it will be March 27 - 30, 2020. Great video!
Awesome video like always. Never had the option of flying the 737 classic. Northern Canada is beautiful.
Thanks a lot! They are hard to find these days
@@QFSAviation I flew it once on US Airways flight 1444 when i flew home from Pittsburgh, PA to Charlotte, NC. It was a 737-300, and i'm a huge 737 fan so flying on the classic was a dream come true.
My favorite aircraft is the Boeing 757!
Awesome video of an awesome aircraft. The aerial views are spectacular. A big thanks from Down Under for posting this thoroughly enjoyable journey up to the Artic.
Good old Canadian hospitality
I absolutely loved this video, I love looking at the great north wilderness, have seen other combi videos, but this one is the very best, thanks for sharing. Just gives a real perspective on how huge North American Continent as a whole is.
Looks like you had a pretty heavy cargo load on the first leg. This is certainly unique flying on a combi. Definitely a more unusual route, but goes to show the 737 series’ versatility.
re-watching in june 2021, still one of favorite qfs videos. thanks qman !!
hi qman. this is one cool report. i dont think you would never get that kind of access in the US. i'm surprised they didnt ask you if you wanted to fly it on the next leg. leaving the cam on to catch you going up the stairs...epic. also the furthest north you ever had TJ. great scenery too. and the guy falling down looks like something i would do. thanks for sharing. fly safe my friend.
You gotta fly on a 737-200 someday. Those are the classics.
He did
Canadian North operates them as well.
What an outstanding video! I saw a brief video of this route on ICE PILOTS. You have done a much more comprehensive program. So glad that you got to see the cargo area and the cockpit. Thanks for highlighting these smaller airlines and routes. I am hoping that someday you can fly to Saint Helena and the Falkland Islands(Malvinas) in the South Atlantic. Flight to Saint Helena is from Johannesburg(year round)or Capetown(seasonal) on AirLink. Flight to the Falklands is from Sao Paulo or Santiago on LATAM. Please consider this sometime. Thanks!
Great video Q. I flew a combi 747 in 1991 from GRU to JFK - the cargo was in the back of the plane. They misconfigured the seat numbers and it was a great mess when we embarked! Thanks for uploading!
I follow a few aviation channels your is by far the most enjoyable . You have a keen eye for footage for your videos and a in depth of the flights you go on.
That was a really wonderful trip report. Love the notes you provide as you're flying over. Thanks again!
I actually got to fly an SAS 747Combi from Copenhagen to Los Angeles back in the 80's. Very unusual. I sat upstairs and it was economy seating then. Let me just say it was a loooong flight. Just love your videos Quintin. So well done and very informative as well. You seem to have done your homework before posting. Please keep it up. Very enjoyable.
Very interesting and informative. All of your videos are good, but this one was special by being such an uncommon airline and destination.
great service! Breakfast for that flight is incredible
15:33 WHAT A VIEW!! Awesome landscapes that Canada offers! Great video mate!
Oh wow, the classic 737! Love that plane💪 Awesome video 👍✈️
Stunning video of this exotic airline and these exotic places. How nice of them to also let you see the cockpit and cargo hold during your stop-over in Yellowknife! =D
Amazing that you got a warm breakfast for a short flight and here in the the U.S we give our passengers a biscotti cookie on a 2 1/2 hour flight what an embarrassment.great video quintin
These trip reports never fail to put a smile on my face :) keep at it!
This was a really great video! I have actually lived in Yellowknife for the past 15 years and have flown with Canadian North and First Air many times. I just took a flight from Edmonton back home to Yellowknife last night, so this was really cool to see.
I’ve been a subscriber for about a week and I find your content very compelling. Great that you do a lot of Canadian trips - we often get missed. The scenery was amazing on this trip and I agree, who needs IFE during a day flight like that. You had amazing weather flying in and out of Norman Wells, that’s for sure.
You do the most amazing shots and have the best accompanying background music ... nice 👍🏼
Awesome video!! NWT is quite spectacular!
Canadian North has the coolest logo.
Wow it seems Canadian north is great! Beautiful views! Excellent Job Quintin!
Great vid as always 👌 I've flown this bird in her previous life at Thomson and bmibaby. So good to see this relatively young classic living her new life in Canada!
Fascinating flight and great scenery !! Wonderful video!! Really enjoyed it !! Thanks again !!
Wow, complimentary hot breakfast! Just like flying domestic on a US airline pre-2001! Those combi's are interesting. I think Alaska has 'em too.

Thanks so much for making this! I've been curious what its like to fly Canadian North for years. Fifteen years ago I looked into planning a trip just for the experience of flying on one of these polar bear 737s, but ultimately didn't follow through. Finally I can do it through this.
It’s very interesting seeing all this beauty! Thank you so much for share with us!
Profound video man! Really enjoyed it!
Recently, this is the most interesting flight. Nature is very similar to the extreme north of Russia!
Fascinating aircraft and great countryside..Great work!
Have you flown to Longyearbyen (N78 E16) and Ushuaia (S55 W68)? These are, to the best of my knowledge, the northernmost and southernmost airports served by regular, scheduled commercial flights. Have been to both - twice. Glad to have found your videos - they're amazing journeys of discovery and superbly filmed and edited.
Thanks for sharing the great experience.
thanks Q for another GREAT trip...👍👍👍👍👍👍👍✈
Brilliant video. love your work. Outstanding
Que interesantes tus videos, felicidades!!
Delightful. Thank you very much!
Love your videos
This is great! My dad used to pilot the 737-300!!!
I love your videos keep it up ❤️❤️❤️
Wonderful video thank you very very much. I have always been interested in the NWT and Nunavut, maybe I might get there sometime. I don't know. From Ireland
Outstanding video. I would love for you to review a flight to Barrow AK sometime if you can. That is a place I have always dreamed of flying into. Thanks again.
Awesome video!!!
Great video!
Awesome video
Great video
What an amazing trip report. Beautiful landscapes and smart idea to film yourself while boarding the plane. Great job Q!
Great video my friend. I've flown in the 733 once with Southwest. Hard to find these days :(
Looks like a very solid airplane. Every landing looked smooth. It’s also known to have an excellent safety record.
Very nice video
Great Vid! Q Man😊
Eu tinha 12 anos quando esse avião entrou em operação...20 anos atrás!
walking out to the plane...i can smell the jet exhaust😁
Great video. Canadian North like to look after their avgeeks.
Love that Livery!
Thank you for this video , I am fashined by B737 Combi , B737 is beautifull aircraft, I already been taking this plane ( Lyon Bucarest, Lyon Heraklio on Grèece) , There are many 737 in Europa
Just .... Thanks you , merci !
Thanks QFS !!
Thanks !
Always enjoy your work, but this one for me is really up there!!!! Thanks!
when ur 31000 thousand feet in the air..u never complain about food...trust me !!! nice video btw :)
Awesome video man..at last i can see a full 733 combi video..thank you..btw at 13:12 ,they didnt take out all those overhead bins inside the cargo area? thats weird..u know any reason why they maintained those bins inside?
i agree with the boarding to Q
Very cool travel in Canada 🇨🇦.......
weve been getting this aircraft as a freighter for kuujjuaq and tonight engine #2 caught fire but it wasnt serious
yay
Great video. Can you please share the artist of the background music. Brought back alot of childhood memories. Sorry for the strange request. All the best for future travels. From Iqaluit.😊😊👍👍
Its a great airline! Imao the -200 series is the cooler one ! And told me if i m wrong but you did a review last year in this exactly same plane?
That fight I’m pretty sure is also operated with the 737-200C as well sometimes
2:40 at least Quintin didn’t get bullied about his age this time
nice vid bro
I'm from Edmonton!
Do they fly directly to Edmonton on the return or do they do the other 2 airports en route?
It's the same routing south bound.
I knw you must get asked this a lot, but how does one travel this much? You're so lucky!
Awesome job man coming to Alaska anytime soon?
Next month!!!!
QFS Aviation where too?
Anchorage and Fairbanks. I’ll be up there for a week to see the Iditarod start
QFS Aviation awesome great country I’m down in southeast btw if you fly Alaska air be aware there’s been delays with the 737-700s due to weather and mechanical issues
How tall is he?
13:20 I’m from New York too and I have done this at jfk
I was talking about how they let me (technically mid flight) to come up to the cockpit and cargo hold
btw YellowKnife is home of "ICE PILOTS"
Buffalo airways...Mikey&Plane Savers......DTD.
@@tomsamuelson8512 👍✈
$524 maybe for a 1 way, but even with a pivut ticket was a lil over $1200 return.
Like the Millennium Falcon!!
Bloody old plane..
The flight crew were friendlier than most you've encountered. Did you take home a polar bear drink cup?
Qsnack time😉👍
I love the vlog style videos!
The 737 Classic has almost completely disappeared in Europe 😩
Cool vid. To be making vids of this quality at your age, you have a great future ahead of you. I'd suggest checking out David Hoffman's vids. He is on the other end of his career as a film maker and has been doing this since the late '50's. I expect you both would like each others vids.
Can "civilians" go to the arctic? Great video.!
Whats the point of combi?
Allows you to both carry cargo and passengers.
Are you going to become a pilot and are you taking flying lessons now ?
Wouldn’t surprise me. Takes a lot in order to become one, but the airlines need all the people possible.
22:40 The Office!
😀😀👍
