    Maybe you were nervous, but you should’ve gotten a temp pole so you could work in the house without any unnecessary hazards. Glue is used to reduce squeaking floor. It’s not used to strengthen the joists. 😅

      Sorry to jump into your comment here but we are looking to do the same (also in the Boston suburbs) and was wondering who you used and how you found the whole process. Feel free to PM me if you are comfortable with that.

      @@abdellahmoussaoui7654Same as the video, $250k. Though I think my contractor may have under quoted me because he later tried to screw me over with cheap sub-standard labor and materials and threaten to stop work whenever I bring up a point in the contract that he refuses to do (building a bathroom on the second floor). A reputable and honest builder would probably be more around $300k in my area.

      @@khwajaahmadhasan9388why are yall paying to much to get a second floor? It really doesn’t makes since that my husband who is a construction inspector for residential and commercial properties is always telling me that to build a large house with top notch everything in our expensive area should cost no more than $600k and this includes a full basement and 2 stories, but y’all are trying to pay $250-300k for just 1 additional level???? This stuff is so misleading.

    I bought a brand new home 3000sqft but I need at least 2 more bedrooms. Worth adding a second floor to a brand new home? Or maybe a partial over the 3 car garage or something?

    I changed my negative comment to a positive one. Obviously we all want to do something like this to our house but we're curious about cost but we don't want to waste contractors times getting estimates. Ballparks are very very helpful. Thanks

  • @richardburchett
    @richardburchett 7 месяцев назад +1

    I love it. I've got a cape cod house with beautiful limestone exterior. I'd like to raise the second floor to a full size upstairs and maybe configure pulling the facade forward to make a covered porch in front of the existing house. This is helpful to see what the process looks like.

    I want a second floor addition, but I don’t want to waste the old growth lumber making my attic rafters. Modern rafters are these tiny fragile white things. My rafters are fur wide burgundy color with many growth rings.

    They're basically paying for labor for this dumb idea. 250k to add 2nd floor to a tiny cape rectangle 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂. Looks like Jersey so I'm sure they could've sold that house for 350k minimum. Take that 350k add it to the 250k for the dumb addition and buy a small piece of land. Build a large 1800-2000 sq ft ranch with a finished basement. Will get you close to 4k total sq ft.
