I love how in the beginning they joke about the rats like it'll be the craziest thing of the season. Little did they know of the chaos K2 was about to bring
Lou had the better Baron voice but Siobhan wins for physical acting. You can tell how much she enjoyed doing spindly puppet spider motions while saying evil witch villain stuff.
I always wished it was recognized after that kalina did, at least this once, try to help the group, and it’s sort of implied she gets more evil the more corrupt Cassandra becomes, but honestly after season two their blanket distrust of her is more than fair
yeah what I always liked about kalina's character is that she is, at her core, a familiar, and therefore it makes so much sense that she would do anything in her power to do all that cassandra wants most, no matter if she is in good or corrupted mode. I think Kalina is a fantastic character in that sense, and great as antagonist if need be, but I hope they dont make her just straight up evil for the sake of being evil.
Brennan tried a couple of times to imply there’s more to Kalina than being evil, but I think the bad kids hate her so much (which, like you said, is totally fair, and is ultimately props to brennan for making such a great villain) that he kinda gave up by the end of the season. I personally don’t think there’s been a better villain in fantasy high than Kalina. The bad kids often banter with whatever villain they’re fighting, but I don’t recall much humor in any of their interactions with Kalina, which makes it hard for them to have any kind of positive foundation with which to begin redeeming her in their eyes. She’s also the only major antagonist that began as an antagonist. The bad kids got to know kalvaxus as their vice principal and porter as a teacher before they knew they were villains. Kalina was a villain to them from the start (if i’m remembering correctly lol).
For me, it’s not when they trick Brennan, it’s the moment he has the realization that they knew exactly what he was going to do and he was fucked from the moment the interaction started.
my favorite bit from the opener was when Brennan says that it is very clear which part of the recap is him/the story and which part is our intrepid heros

K2 broke me
"I don't know if you heard me... I said... Blimey..."
Ally cheering “he’s got that one in him!” and Lou barking while Murph rolls takes me out every time I watch that clip 😭😭😭

true props to Lou for going absolutely fuckin ham
lou is nothing if not completely committed to the bit

and then at the end of season 3 she's set up as the bbeg which doesn't really line up with "if cassandra's fine then kalina is also fine" 😔
This is a tv show, so them seeing the audience reaction to how they treat calina would influence the story in a potential season 4
