Great talent, melodious songs, not much luck, almost forgotten, but still alive in die hard Hindi film music fan's heart.
This lovely song is one of my absolute favorites. Everytime I hear it, my heart is filled with such emotions... It has sadness of separation, longing for the beloved, determination, and confidence in the power of his love for her. He is certain that his sweetheart will find it irresistible and will forsake everyone and everything for him.
This song is almost perfect on so many counts: situation, picturization, lyrics, intensity of emotions, and most importantly, Rafi Saheb's powerful rendition, the modulation of his voice, and the range of octaves this song encompasses. Not too many other male singers could ever do the last... not MukeshJi or Kishore'Da, definitely not Talat Mahmood Saheb or HemantaDa. Only two who just might have pulled it off would have been MannaDa and Mahendra KapoorJi. I am including MK for having demonstrated once before.. He sang a number early on that comes close. And, that was Sohni Mahiwal's "Chand Chhupa aur Tare Doobe...."
Regardless, this song will move generation of listeners to come, and will remain as one of the best Rafi Saheb ever sang.

Hansraj Bahl was a great music director and a great human being. He was an admirer of Urdu and a frequent attendant of Mushairas. I had the pleasure of meeting him in a mushaaira in Meerut. He liked my poetry and recitation. I was about twelve and he should have been about forty.

Thanks for making a video on legendry music director Hans Raj Behl. A song of Behl sahib from old film Milan is my all time favorite : 'Hi jiya roye ,piya nhi aaye'. This song is based on some classical rag.I wish ur viewers shoud listen it and if possible make a video on it. Lata ji 's voice is at the top .
Behl sahib created many beautiful unforgettable Songs in Punjabi films. One among them was Bhangra in which Shamshad Begam sang memorable evergreen songs.

May I add that Changez Khan was grandfather of both Halaku Khan and Kublai Khan. He ruled from Mangolia. While Kublai Khan was given control of China and ruled from Bejing as his capital; Halaku Khan went to the West and captured many Arab kingdoms. He ruled from outside Baghdad city while the then Khalipha was virtually a prisoner in the city for many months. Unfortunately, Halaku who was a staunch Buddhist had to rush to Mangolia due to Changez Khan's unexpected death in Mangolia.
There was a Hindi film titled Halaku with Shankar Jaikishan's music. In it Pran had enacted the title role.
In fact, all the music directors, lyricists, writers, filmmakers and actors were the gems of the Indian film industry even as they enjoyed similar popularity. Hence, their comparison with one another stands justified by no stretch of imagination as it was the golden era of Indian films! After all, the video is superb and congratulations to Great Legends for this labour and dedication!
