Wow, what a cool idea, Lady! I’m diggin this! Too bad you can’t get those roots and the carving in the same front. If I can, might I suggest repotting to the planting angle you want BEFORE you carve those steps? If you change the angle later, the steps will be catty-whompus and what not. Lookin forward to see the dremel training and where you take this tree, Sister.
Nice idea to use this tree. I have some advice. Decide where you want the stairs to be, then instead of carving stairs, carve a slide. Once you have that done, you can mark evenly spaced horizontal lines with a pen, and then remove right-angled wedges, and your stairs will appear and they will be uniform. If you just free-style it like you are doing, I suspect you will end up going far too deep into the tree without achieving enough height. When you look at the picture, you can see the risers were very high and the treads look pretty shallow.
You could use a die grinder. They have much larger bits with different shapes, and you can use variable speed. Then clean everything up with the dremmel tool.
I’m totally down with helping with whatever you need. Can’t believe there was a accusation of coke use because you were sniffling 😮. Funny thing, I’m heading out this afternoon to pick up some Dremel bits. Yes, you could use a slightly larger bit to aid in the detail carving. Not too much bigger. I’ll try to find that book. BTW., it’s Sukatra Island!
People make some really weird comments sometimes - I should know, it is normally me No - I agree with you Candice...it is horrible. That wound is not healing up anytime soon unfortunately. I love your imaginative thoughts but it will definitely need a heavier duty dremmel and bit than what you are using. Keep going but I would put it back into a growing bed and allow it to become a letterbox for your driveway :)
Lol I love you and your comments though Xav. Lol I don’t think it could survive my winter in the ground - we have landscape Japanese maples in our zone but they are all grafted into our hardy maple tree root stock. We will call this the ‘last chance’ for this tree othwise OFF TO THE AUCTION 🤣
Well Candace I don't usually have much to say but you're right that is one ugly tree. And when you're done with the Dremel put that tree back in the ground and air layer in a couple years. Oh yeah and put it somewhere on your property where you don't have to look at it
@@Candice.BonsaiScience I was very interested in this video. I have been bonsai-ing for 50+ years. I would have Dremelled the **** out of it until it looked like a two trunk job. Over in UK, we would use a bit called a 'nibbler' which really removes wood at a helluva pace. Although you were right in saying that preserving the live veins would be tricky. Alternatively, I would have planted it out in the ground and forgotten about it for five years. I would hate that tree just as much as you. 👍 Glad it's your decision and not mine. 🤣
You just lost a subscriber, now that you revealed you dont do drugs. I only follow and take advice from bonsai drug users and raging bonsai alcoholics. Thank you for your honesty.....
I knew it was going to be this tree when you spoke of it! A really cool fairy-tale tree concept. I cant wait to see it done!
A good tree to practice in lol

OMG YES! I actually just remembered today it still has to go into a plastic training pot!
Nice theory on trying to make this carving into a cool masterpiece. With your talent, I can envision greatness in the final work of art.
We will see 😂 a lot will have to happen to this tree to make it a masterpiece

Oh dear! Then @Bobcatbonsai would need to show me a new tool and how to use it!
Dremel tip #5. Or is it #6?
Kutzall Extreme Flame Rotary Burr, 1⁄8" Shaft, Very Coarse- Woodworking Attachment for Dremel
I’ll try to find that! Thanks Sam!

You may want to wear a mask to protect your lungs from the saw dust.
I have plenty of those!

Yes no one should be able to argue that it’s a nice one😂 - I’ll dremel it and either keep it or send it off elsewhere lol
You just sniffle if you need!!! 😘
Lol and I shall because it’s not something you can control but I do try to edit most of it out 🤣

Bahahaha okay I LIES DONT GO! I actually start each morning with a line of powder and round out lunch time with a bottle 🤣
Hahaha
Lmao!
Dremel is good but get the right bits, you wasting your time and suggestion do it outside because it’s going to be messy
I’m okay making a mess in the work room - I am not working outside when it’s still blizzards and snow 🤪. Definitely stepping up the bit game!
