Hey guys!! It’s another Friday that means VOTING, This was one you guys voted in a few weeks ago and it’s HERE!! Make sure to vote in today’s poll and have a great 4th of July weekend friends if you’re here in a America and have an amazing weekend in general to people else where!! Cheers all! 🙌🏻🔥
I was a little surprised you didn't talk about the unbelievable vocal that rips my gut out ... but I chalk it up to your being so blown away by the work in toto. Awesome reaction!
Steve, *Can't Find My Way Home* is one of my 3 top all time favorite songs! I don't care who covers it...! (probably heard 17 covers..fun fact: It's the most played song in movies)
There’s a RUclips video of Winwood and Clapton and Bramhall and Gadd etc. performing Can’t Find My Way Home. You probably know the video. Winwood plays guitar with Clapton with dual leads. He’s great.
John Barleycorn Must Die is amazing with headphones. It's an old English poem. Traffic takes you back to old England in time. Stevie Winwood is a musical virtuoso.
On a busy NYC street in the early 2000s an aging hippie stoner recognized Jim Capaldi. He went up to him and said " Your song Mr Fantasy kept me alive in the jungle in Vietnam in 1968. Thank you."
"Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" is the next logical choice -- an incredible eery, jazzy, melodic sound unlike anything. Steve Winwood being a serious vocal talent in this band, as well as previous band Spencer Davis Group "I'm a Man" and "Gimme Some Lovin" when he was SIXTEEN years old... ! Then he was in Blind Faith with Eric Clapton, and later had a brilliant solo career starting in 1980 with "Arc of the Diver". Steve Winwood is such a class act.
Next Traffic should be Low Spark of High Heeled boys. Next Steve Winwood should be Can't Find My Way Home with Blind Faith (Clapton and Baker). It's a KNOCKOUT.
Make it snappy, guys! As an old geezer who was 14 in 1967 when Mr. Fantasy came out, I've got to say it's great watching you guys react to all this music I grew up with and never stopped loving. I honestly get a charge out of knowing something recorded 53 years ago can still be appreciated by people hearing it for the first time.
Blind Faith - "Can't Find My Way Home" a mellow classic features: Steve Winwood, Ginger Baker and Eric Clapton. CS&N - "Suite Judy Blue Eyes" a must. Ten Years After - "Going Home" (Woodstock version).
The guitarist, Dave Mason, played 12-string acoustic on Hendrix's 'All Along The Watchtower'. But the awesome Fender Jaguar solo on this track is by Steve Winwood.
I stumbled upon an outdoor concert a few years ago in downtown Denver. Dave Mason was performing, OMG his voice was still clear and strong. What a treat!!!!
@@Grovesgeo In the studio, Mason only played bass on "Dear Mr. Fantasy", "Dealer", and "Cryin' to be Heard", although he played more bass live (Mason, Winwood, and Wood split the bass duties live). Winwood played most bass on the records. There's live footage of the original lineup playing "Giving To You" showing Mason on lead guitar (Winwood organ, Wood flute, Capaldi drums of course). @Andy & Alex if you haven't heard the "Dear Mr. Fantasy" from 'Welcome to the Canteen' it's well worth it!
Tyrone Sharp I would agree. I personally would have liked to add Medicated Goo and Shanghai Noodle Factory to my original list, but not as many people like those, so I didn’t....
Been asking for this one literally for months. It was promised a few weeks back, but still nothing. I'm thinking maybe one of them has a predisposed bias against southern rock.
He started playing in pubs with his dad and brother when he was eight. In middle school he was backing blues legends like Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf. At fourteen he joined a group and by 16 he was in a group with a record deal. He bought his estate when he was a teenager and has lived in it ever since.
We were fortunate to grow up when we did. You could go to your local record store and find gold on every aisle. It's our job to introduce it all to these guys' generation.
Far and away Traffic's best album in my opinion. Side 1 may be one of the best album sides of all time: Glad, Freedom Rider, Empty Pages....just amazing.
A superb song, lyrics, vocals and instruments superb... Winwood did his definitive live version at Eric Clapton's Crossroads festival in 2007! Enormous talent, enough said.
My wife and I attended a small and intimate triple-bill concert more than two decades ago, and Traffic guitarist Dave Mason (whose fretwork we heard on this song) and his band were the third act on the bill. It was an on-the-lawn concert, and we sat about three feet from the stage. At the end of his excellently performed set, he asked the audience for a song to perform as his encore. We requested this song, and he PLAYED THE HECK OUT OF IT. His guitar defied physical laws by not instantaneously combusting in his hands during that song. If you get the chance to see Dave Mason perform with his own backing band, I recommend that you take the necessary steps to attend that performance...and make it snappy.
These kids today, discovering epic tunes, and epic musicians for the first time. I like it. Yes all of us forty and fifty year olds were way spoiled growing up with seriously amazing music.
This song is about 60 something years old. It's an old, old song but still just as beautiful today. Traffic is on of the greatest band in musical history! Play John Barly Corn. You'll love it ❤
“Make it Snappy” you have to realize there is a genealogy in Rock, Steve Winwood was in the Spencer Davis Group, Blind Faith, and Traffic! If you think of it this way, every band and or group has the “DNA” of other bands that you can follow and hear how an artist matured in their performance, style, creativity. To really appreciate Rock, and other genres, study the artists, like Jimmy Hendrix for example, he was with the acts like the Isley Brothers, Little Richard and then discovered by Keith Richard’s girlfriend and Chas Chandler of The Animals. Go back and listen from the 50’s thru the 60’s and 70’s to hear how the sound evolved. I’m just an old Boomer Music Nerd who was lucky to have grown up in those times. Rock🤘
Dave Mason played bass, and sang harmony , Steve played keys, guitar , and sang lead , Jim Capaldi much underated drummer , formed Traffic....Steve plays keys on Hendrix's Electric Ladyland album .Dave Mason plays the 12 string rhythm on All Along the watch Tower.......Man I wish you all could post a reaction to Hendrix ... Cross Town Traffic is a serious banger
Traffic: THE LOW SPARK OF HIGH-HEELED BOYS ... my highest recommendation guys. Trust me. Also Blind Faith - Can't Find My Way Home... Steve Winwood can't be denied.
This song was always in the top 5 of every top 500 countdown all time, along with Stairway, Freebird…. Also Steve Windwood is one of the most underrated guitarists ever, since it’s not even his main instrument.
Finally you have discovered as important a band as ever was. Winwood played....almost everything. Organ, Piano and THAT LEAD!!!! As well as singing. I been telling you guys about Traffic forever. Anyway a lot of people will suggest Low Spark of High Heel Boys (I have in the past) but really for next it's two songs that roll up into one, from the album John Barleycorn Must Die...Glad/Freedom Rider phenomenal!!!
Stevie Winwood is one of those unsung rock heroes. He is a superb singer guitar player and keyboard player as well as a songwriter and a bit of a child prodigy. He was only 17 when with the Spencer Davis Group had massive hit with ‘Gimme some lovin’ His voice and his keyboard skills amazed everyone then. A. Few years later he formed Traffic and brought out the LP Mr Fantasy which blew us away again. I have seen this man live and he stands up with best of them .
One of the all-time great rock instrumentals "Glad" is off of their John Barleycorn Must Die album (my favorite Traffic album). It's a fantastic lead-in to another monster - "Freedom Rider". You should check it out.
Thank You For covering Dear Mr. Fantasy. I have always loved this tune and don’t hear unless I break out my copy. It is just so Soulful, So Powerful and So Hypnotic all at the same time. It Zones me where I can close my eyes and elevated somewhere else or just take in Jim Capaldi’s Drumming, The Guitar or Steve Winwood’s Voice. They are all addictive in their own respect in this song. Keep On Cats, Make It Snappy...!!! Thanks Again 🎸
I LOVE Traffic and when I saw you were covering thIs song I was worried you guys might not really get them. I should never have doubted you! I was so happy that not only did you get them you totally appreciated how unique and freaking brilliant they are. ❤️
Traffic - Low Spark of High Heeled Boys. Stevie Winwood was 14 years old when he joined the Spencer Davis Group, and 19 when he joined Traffic, and sang and co-wrote this song. I would recommend listening to some Spencer Davis Group. Especially Give Me Some Lovin' and I'm A Man. Steve Winwood was a legend still in his mid teens.
Traffic is a journey. And this song is one of a couple of their songs that's often an intro to them. It's such a fantastic song. And not even their best. I look forward to your journey through their catalog. Make it snappy!
Make it snappy. When you are ready for an incredible organ solo, hear: Green Eyed Lady by Sugarloaf. Great song. I want to see if you can guess who she is.
“One day you’ll be cool. Look under your bed. It’ll set you free.” ~ Almost Famous ~ It’s so fun watching you young’uns enjoying all the music of my youth. There is so much to discover-make it snappy.
Low Spark of High Heeled Boys. Also Blind Faith - Can't Find My Way Home Steve Winwood was also part of Blind Faith, as well as Clapton and Ginger Baker.
If there's a reason to not give this song an 'S', it's because you have yet to hear their masterpiece, 'Low Spark of High Heeled Boys'. This song really doesn't introduce you to Chris Wood, who is a phenomenal woodwind player. Oddly enough, the guy playing the big guitar chops in this song was the keyboardist in a little ole band called Blind Faith, whose lead guitar player was Eric Clapton. Happy 4th guys!
One of my favorite songs! I saw them sing it live in concert and yes, they made it snappy! Jim Capaldi, the drummer, was an amazing musician, writer, and singer (although Steve Winwood sang for Traffic). Capaldi had solo albums and was incredible with his cover of " Oh Lord, Why Lord" with Eric Clapton ripping the guitar. Winwood is also known for his involvement in The Spencer Davis Group ("Gimme Some Lovin") and Blind Faith. Also in Traffic are Dave Mason and Chris Woods. Tight band and all incredible musicians in their own right. Thank you. I loved this reaction!
A real deep one is called for in snappish attention. That one is "Shanghai Noodle Factory" with utterly dazzling hippy choir boy vocals tearing out of WINWOO D's fertile mind, soil, & lung s.. NOT to mention "Freedom Rider" from the FAB John Barleycorn album. Boy!, boys, the Traffic diehards are SURE coming out from under those moss-civered English moorside rocks, aren't they? (I'm 76 & was there, first time around, during the '67 "Summer of Love." OMG😱.....
Everyone forgets how good of a guitarist Steve Winwood is. I saw him in concert opening for Tom Petty and he joined them on stage during Petty's set for a few songs and he tore it up.
He's one of those super annoying people who can walk into a room and there's an oboe in the corner. He picks it up and fiddles around, and ten minutes later he can play a tune on it.
Steve Winwood is amazing. One of my girlfriends is friends with him and talks to him quite often. She knows Peter Frampton, too. She met him through her now deceased husband who was the manager for Lynryd Skynyrd. He survived the plane crash that killed many of the band's members.
Little grasshoppers...... there is so much more for you to hear and experience. Happy for you. My generation was over saturated and spoiled by an abundance of super significant sauce.
When I saw this come up I was so pleased. For me, it's always been an "S". Glad you think so too. [purchased as an import in late 1960s whilst stationed in Hawaii. Still treasured]. Also got to see Blind Faith there!
@Tom McCafferty I believe he was 16 years old when he recorded gimme some lovin’ and I’m a man. He was very young. His brother Muff was the bass player in that group too.
That song was co-written and sung by the amazing Steve Winwood - who was (wait for it) 19 when that was recorded. He really made it snappy. Other songs? "Low Spark..." and "No Face No Name No Number" are a must, as is "Paper Sun". "Can't find my way home" (which I cover in my own gigs!) and "Sea of Joy" - both by Winwood's later band Blind Faith. And also some of the blue-eyed soul he did with Spencer Davis Group - "Keep on Running" (those vocals - from a teenager. Astounding.)
Hey guys, I think you find this to be a real banger in a jazzy sort of way. Steve Winwood {lead singer/writer} is a name you'll find in a lot of 10 lists from the early rock days, he started his own band at the age of 14 called the 'The Spencer Davis Group', an incredible musician with the ability to play multiple instruments and influenced some of the bigger names in rock history. Stay safe in the groove, cheers!
Never commented on RUclips before until now! I’ve known this song for about a year roughly I’d say. I am only 21 years old but classic rock will always keep me alive!
Thank you for doing this! Traffic is one of my favorite groups. And since we're on this topic, you MUST at some point also play by them "Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys", "Glad" and "Empty Pages" - the last two being off the "John Barleycorn Must Die" Album. Related to this, please also play something by Mott the Hoople - like "All the Young Dudes" . Sorta kinda David Bowie like. Anyway, as always, GREAT JOB AND KEEP CRANKING OUT GREAT TUNES TO LISTEN TO!!!!!
Just want to compliment you guys for checking out the great songs and bands of late 60’s and early 70’s because I was a 20 year old in this time and I’m glad that you guys are enjoying the music from this era.ave
Hey guys!! It’s another Friday that means VOTING, This was one you guys voted in a few weeks ago and it’s HERE!! Make sure to vote in today’s poll and have a great 4th of July weekend friends if you’re here in a America and have an amazing weekend in general to people else where!! Cheers all! 🙌🏻🔥

Yes!
HELL YES!
The thing that you're hearing is only the sound of ...
And "Can't Find My Way Back Home" which has Steve Winwood of Traffic in a band called Blind Faith.
So great.
Covered still today by big timers.
Steve, *Can't Find My Way Home* is one of my 3 top all time favorite songs! I don't care who covers it...! (probably heard 17 covers..fun fact: It's the most played song in movies)
Blind Faith had Winwood and Ric Grech from Traffic as well as Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker from Cream.
It's been covered by SO many big names. Absolutely gorgeous song.
Not to mention Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker
Steve Winwood = Genius. 55 year career. He can sing and play anything.
He's one of those annoying dudes who can pick up an instrument and ten minutes later, he's able to play stuff. But the VOCALS. GORGEOUS.
Mark Grant Elite!
Britain’s answer to Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder in his early years...a prodigy
There’s a RUclips video of Winwood and Clapton and Bramhall and Gadd etc. performing Can’t Find My Way Home. You probably know the video. Winwood plays guitar with Clapton with dual leads. He’s great.
@@5891jonathan I have seen it... it's amazing !
Try “Can’t Find My Way Home” by Blind Faith. Features Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood. Classic song.
Even their modern version is fantastic!
ruclips.net/video/eoSn2Y-b6wI/видео.html Steve winwood acoustic version
Just saw a solo by Winwood over quarantine, really great version of this
Great cut, but I prefer "Do What You Like".
Amazing Song....Definitely
John Barleycorn Must Die is amazing with headphones. It's an old English poem. Traffic takes you back to old England in time. Stevie Winwood is a musical virtuoso.
I love that tune. Steve is absolutely amazing!!

Yeah..what you said...
Paper Sun
My favorite Traffic!
I couldn't add a word to what you said ... and I'm *never* at a loss for words! 🙏
NAILED IT.
Next Traffic should be Low Spark of High Heeled boys. Next Steve Winwood should be Can't Find My Way Home with Blind Faith (Clapton and Baker). It's a KNOCKOUT.
Preach brother!
Don’t forget 40000 headmen on that list
What Lucie said.
Anything Blind Faith! Make it snappy!
Those were killer tunes.
Make it snappy, guys! As an old geezer who was 14 in 1967 when Mr. Fantasy came out, I've got to say it's great watching you guys react to all this music I grew up with and never stopped loving. I honestly get a charge out of knowing something recorded 53 years ago can still be appreciated by people hearing it for the first time.
never gets old hearing this song heard also in 1967 when i was 14 !! Am 69 now and going strong.
STEVE WINWOOD (writer/singer) also sang "Can't Find My Way Home" by Blind Faith. Just the tip of the WINWOOD iceberg for certain.
There's a further coda-like outro drifting thru the fade!!
Yea, make it snappy.
Anything by Steve Winwood can't go wrong! Great guitarist, keyboards, mandolin etc! Traffic,Blind faith and solo career!
Don’t forget ‘The Spencer Davis Group’ with Steve’s brother Muff. ❤ 5:23
Low Spark of High Heeled Boys one of the best songs of all time.
cmel714 It’s one of my favorites!
Live version
Agreed, 110%!! 😷👌
I agree!! Low spark is the shit!!👌👌👌
Everybody is probably telling you this: " Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" should be your next traffic tune.
Jim Gordon's drumming on that track is phenomenal and I'd moot that his presence is what makes that album their best.
Will up your cool status!
I love Steve Winwood solo version of John Barleycorn Must Die

CS&N - "Suite Judy Blue Eyes" a must.
Ten Years After - "Going Home" (Woodstock version).
Great picks. Those would be amazing! Ten Years After... Is a Wow!! :)
I always liked 50,000 Miles Beneath My Brain by Ten Years After.
These are all great recommendations!
"Presence Of The Lord" for Blind Faith. :)
"Guinnevere" for CS & N
Ten years after
The guitarist, Dave Mason, played 12-string acoustic on Hendrix's 'All Along The Watchtower'. But the awesome Fender Jaguar solo on this track is by Steve Winwood.

I stumbled upon an outdoor concert a few years ago in downtown Denver. Dave Mason was performing, OMG his voice was still clear and strong. What a treat!!!!

I love Dear Mr. Fantasy. Thank you all for reacting to this timeless classic.
Robin Trower, Bridge of Sighs, and too rolling stoned.
Day of the eagle too.
Hell yeah! Saw Trower live during the "Bridge of Sighs" tour. IMO that album was a true relevatory experience with rock music 🤯
Traffic was a fantastic band.
Empty Pages should be next, or any tune from the album John Barleycorn Must Die.
The whole album is incredible.

Absolutely, Freedom Rider and Glad!
One of my favorites is Low Spark of High Heeled Boys
John Barleycorn is Great
Love John Barley on. Every cut a classic...once again, I'm northward bound!
The Spark of High- Healed Boys - - showcase Traffic!
Imagine hearing this when it was released in 1967, when we had not heard anything quite like this before! Turned our heads slap around!
I saw traffic in concert about 15 years or so ago. They played for 3 hours and only played 12 songs - and each one was a masterpiece in musicianship!

Steve Winwood also wrote "I'm a Man" when he was 15 with the Spencer Davis Group...Chicago covered it...

I would recommend listening to some Spencer Davis Group. Especially Give Me Some Lovin' and I'm A Man. Steve Winwood was a legend still in his mid teens.
Robin Trower Bridge of Sighs...make it snappy!
I bought this album just a couple of weeks after it was released, always loved this track.
Traffic is a journey. And this song is one of a couple of their songs that's often an intro to them. It's such a fantastic song. And not even their best. I look forward to your journey through their catalog. Make it snappy!
First big boy from Traffic. Each of their albums brought a new sound. So many to do. Low Spark...should be next.
Make it snappy. When you are ready for an incredible organ solo, hear: Green Eyed Lady by Sugarloaf. Great song. I want to see if you can guess who she is.
Sugarloaf! ...there's a walk down amnesia lane!
Incredible organ solo? Anything by Medeski, Martin & Wood. I'd recommend Uninvisible to get started.
Definitely Green eyed lady for sure!
@@reverendbStaard Weirdly, Don't Call Us, We'll Call You, is the one that get's played all the time on WXRC.
@@seed_drill7135, it's always on my rotation! Just like listening to AM CKLG when i was a kid.
“One day you’ll be cool. Look under your bed. It’ll set you free.” ~ Almost Famous ~ It’s so fun watching you young’uns enjoying all the music of my youth. There is so much to discover-make it snappy.
Noticed y’all had your eyes closed at times. The best way to listen to this song is with lights off, maybe a few candles or a lava lamp!!
The live version of this song is trippy!
Low Spark of High Heeled Boys. Also Blind Faith - Can't Find My Way Home Steve Winwood was also part of Blind Faith, as well as Clapton and Ginger Baker.
Along with everybody else, your next just has to be their opus, The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys.
Give "can't find my way home a spin, it's snappy 😎
I can't even express how happy it makes me that so many people are naming this incredible song.
Fantasy still gets an S.
I think Capaldi wrote 'Love Hurts' or co-wrote it!
A real deep one is called for in snappish attention. That one is "Shanghai Noodle Factory" with utterly dazzling hippy choir boy vocals tearing out of WINWOO
D's fertile mind, soil, & lung
s.. NOT to mention "Freedom Rider" from the FAB John Barleycorn album. Boy!, boys, the Traffic diehards are SURE coming out from under those moss-civered English moorside rocks, aren't they? (I'm 76 & was there,
first time around, during the '67 "Summer of Love." OMG😱.....
I would've KILLED to see that concert. Steve and Tom are all time greats in my book. Fucking rest in peace, Tom.
Winwood is tragically underrated.
"Children of the Sun" by Billy Thorpe
Was waiting fo Low Spark album to hit yer play list
Amazing he was 16 at the time
Every time that guitar scrapes in that lick, Andy's face does exactly what they wanted everyone to do. Classic!
Steve Winwood always so good at layering so many instruments. Love this song…
Steve Winwood is amazing. One of my girlfriends is friends with him and talks to him quite often. She knows Peter Frampton, too. She met him through her now deceased husband who was the manager for Lynryd Skynyrd. He survived the plane crash that killed many of the band's members.
Hey u need a broom to sweep up some of those names u just dropped? 😹
@@johnnypickens1333 hey, I don't know them, my friend does. She's had a very interesting life. Love hearing her stories.
Johnny Pickens No shit, I thought I was the man for meeting Kirk Cobain and Lane Stanley in Hawaii during the early 90s. I guess not.😂🤣😂
Hey Tara I was just ribin ya 😁
God Tara you've had some fantastic rock and roll history.
Little grasshoppers...... there is so much more for you to hear and experience. Happy for you.
My generation was over saturated and spoiled by an abundance of super significant sauce.
And when you listen to this song in 50 years it will still be just as good. I know it is for me.
Stay Safe!!
Love you guys for listening to some of the great old tunes I like, and that you appreciate it ....THANKS!!
When I saw this come up I was so pleased. For me, it's always been an "S". Glad you think so too. [purchased as an import in late 1960s whilst stationed in Hawaii. Still treasured]. Also got to see Blind Faith there!
"A text from your kid saying "I love you dad!""
GREAT analogy...
MAKE IT SNAPPY!!!
Do Steve Winwood with the Spencer Davis Group, I'm a Man and Gimme Some Lovin. He was 19 or 20 then.
@Tom McCafferty I believe he was 16 years old when he recorded gimme some lovin’ and I’m a man. He was very young. His brother Muff was the bass player in that group too.
Mmmm... Yes!!!😷💓👍👍
Yeah he was 16 at that time
They did the Chicago cover of I'm a Man. They were covering a song by a 16 year old British kid. Amazing.
Totally forgot Steve was in Spencer Davis also. He's so amazing.
Steve Winwood is just so good in all the bands he has played in. Try "Arc of a Diver" by Steve Winwood.
Anthony Robinson Thanks for posting...Great One!
Great song, totally agree
All Winwood's solo music is stellar...
Not to mention “In the Presence of the Lord” with Blind Faith
I know this was months ago. This is one you don't forget. Love you guys. No videos to distract, great picks and knowledgeable critiques.
You guys always keep it snappy. Do Low Spark of High Heeled Boys next please. Peace
Enjoyed: How about another Traffic “Low Spark of High Heeled Boys.” Make it snappy!
The VOCALS on this song give me chills. Chills.
Never commented on RUclips before until now! I’ve known this song for about a year roughly I’d say. I am only 21 years old but classic rock will always keep me alive!
MAKE IT SNAPPY!!! Great reaction, very insightful!
If you ever do I Can't Find My Way Home, listen to it with your eyes closed.
On his album " Arc of a Diver" he produced and played all the instruments.
Gents, you now need to hear " Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys." I dont know how to describe it. Just listen.
I love how Andy illustrates the guitar riffs with his face.
I'm so blessed to be young when all this music ya'll listen to was new
Low Spark is pretty uh SaNAPPY!
“Dear Mr Fantasy play us a tune ...” 😊🤘
Something to make us all happy!
Make it snappy
"Sing us a song, piano man." I wonder if they're relatives. :P
