Watching this made me rather sad. I lived in Stanwell and travelled to Twickenham for many years along this route via Bedfont, & Feltham until 1973. So much has changed even in 1993 - goodness only knows what it looks like now.
excellent video - we did a shorter one coming back from Staines to Bedfont in 1984 - it is called "Bedfont 1984 car journey" Sounds like you grew up in Feltham or Bedfont - so did we. Anyway thanks for sharing
its changed so much now, ive visited once since i left 20 years ago, and it had changed alot, but seeing it now on google earth, it looks totally different, gone are the highfields estate ( i grew up on the allied estate, and used to ride my pushbike over what was known as the pits, which is all covered with housing estates now, we used to go under the train tunnel behind rochester ave, and travel through the pits to boyers lake to fish. such great memories. thx for uploading this
Great to see TORC on there, I used to visit that video game shop nearly every afternoon coming back from school in Sunbury to my house in Bedfont, excellent vid!! brings back some memories, cheers.
I lived down Bedfont lane from 1976 to 1978, what was the name of the pub opposite the old Tesco where the McDonalds is now ?? , it looks like it had been recently demolished on this video - Thanks..
I used to live on Raleigh Road on the allied estate and I very much remember the pits, used to play there all the time. Does anyone know if the old "fort" is still there?. I used to climb on top of there and jump off. Also spent a lot of time in grosvenor park, used to love the old witches hat that didn't go round.
I remember when a friend's girlfriend's brother got killed pulling out of Fairholm on the Staines Road. After that they put a mini roundabout there. Not been back for a long time so don't know if it is still there, or back to straight road. I know the mini roundabout did not change the speed of people much !!!! Good ole Swanick Tyres down Bedfont Lane :-) There was also a mini roundabout at the end of Bedfont Lane last time I went down it, but I think someone said it is now traffic lights ?? Who'd of thunk there would ever be traffic lights at the end of Bedfont Lane !!!! :-) Motorcycle City :-) How can you not capture the infamous 'Bell on the Green' ? !! :-)
@BrianCee I have done, very good, I will sort out some of my own photos from Feltham. Somewhere I have a colour slide of looking out of hunter house at a 3 bed house and I think it was before home court was built taken by a friends grandad. I know it was a good slide as I paid to have it copied some 30 years ago.
If you want to see a collection of photos showing what it all looks like now (2010) and in the past please visit the facebook group "The Feltham, Hanworth and Bedfont Appreciation Society.
brings a lot of memories flooding back from being a kid
Oh God, I remember when there used to be a Wimpy in Feltham. Those were the days... :(

The lack of traffic lights resulted in less traffic congestion 20 years ago. Now you got the lights at Tesco,
Cheers for that post , forgotten most of the buildings had looked like , pity you can't still travel up Bedfont lane from Feltham High Street ....
@lopzilla many of the pub I used to drink in have gone. The prince of wales, railway tavern and the locomotive. How times change!
