I am so happy I discovered your channel, I first watched all the videos you made with "The Perfume Guy" and I was sad there were only a few. But now, oh, I am so happy. I really like the way you speak about fragrances.
I love Ambre sultan, Grand Soir and Ambre Precieux, but my absolute favorites are Histoires de Parfums Ambre 114 and my No. 1 Carner Barcelona Ambar del Sur such an amazing amber!!! Some people find it similar to Ambre Sultan but I think they're fairly different and I love both. Thanks for the list Ashley!!!
Hello from the 1st arrondissement Ash.My third time in Paree :) Cool to watch a Ashley in Paris Video in Paris 😊 Excellent as always, my friend!Peace and Love
I absolutely love amber as a genre although it may get a bit redundant if you have several perfumes in the same category. Some of my favs are Tango, Ambra Aurea, Opus VI and L'eau d'ambre Extreme
Grand Soir makes my eyes roll back into my head -- it's my top amber. But in the Spring and Summer I like the Ambre Precieux with it's lavender note. Rosendo Mateu Nº 7 is my newest amber woody acquisition that I'm really enjoying. I've yet to smell Ambre Sultan but it's on my "to test" list for sure. Thank you Ashley.
Such an educational video!! Has helped me understand my thoughts about my Amber fragrances. I was saying I get a little sweetened, sensual animalic scent from an amber fragrance I purchased so it makes sense now! Thanks x
Funnily enough, if I had to choose between Ambre Sultan and Ambre Precieux, I'd go for the former in a heartbeat, precisely because the lavender in Ambre Precieux makes it a lot more masculine to my nose. Same reason I can't wear Naxos despite loving tobacco. Mind you, I mostly wear masculine and unisex fragrances, but lavender is one note that I can't disassociate with barber style scents and I don't feel comfortable with it. I much rather go the woody/spicy route than the fougère one.
Hello Ashley, Amber is a great cold weather note. It's warming and comforting. You have some classic choices in your list. Thanks for sharing and making this video! - Jenn
I didnt love Grand Soir at first because its strong at first spray but after shopping for 2 hours, I had to buy it ! Since owning GS, I have yet to smell a better amber…I’ll have to check these out Ashley !
Thank you for sharing your favorite Amber fragrances. Lovely choices as always! I’m wearing Grand Soir today layered over my Another 13 lotion. Some of my favorite Amber fragrances are Grand Soir, Boucheron Ambre D’Alexandrie, Nicolai Ambre Cashmere Intense, Alexander McQueen Amber Garden, and Armani Ambre Eccentrico. I’m sure there are others I’m forgetting but those are the ones I wear the most from my collection.
Ashley I absolutely loved this presentation. Elegant, chic, sophisticated just as you are. So happy to see you doing so well in your chosen field. My favorite amber is of course Shalimar. Bravo well done my friend. À votre santé cheri.
acknowledging that Ambre is an accord and not a note, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention my favorites: “Persepolis” by Arshia, “Ambre Loupe” by Rania J, and “Oud & Ambre” by nose Mathilde Laurent for Cartier. Again, another appreciated and well-crafted fragrance presentation. Merci!
Thx Ashley for your always informative videos, my best amber perfume of all time is Ambre Sultan, and by the way I've blind bought few perfumes based on your reviews and it was a successful buy.
I have Kalemat. In the US Jomashop and world of watches have it for about $78. Lasts 8+ hours easily. Blueberry is a note I do get, just a little faint. Arabian Oud has several stores in the US but doesn't get a lot of love. Ibtehal ( a couple notes: rum and pear are just so good) Resala, Tarteel Silver are some of the best I think.
What do you think about Lalique Le Parfum? I love Encre Noire à l’Extrême very much but I want to explore more of the square bottom line. It’s a little costly here down under so blind buy is not an option. Sigh
Hey Ashley, if you ever do a Q&A, I have a question regarding Parfums de Marly. Their customer service insists that none of their compositions have ever been reformulated. However, when you compare two bottles, separated by several years in production, there has been a trend of either removing the alcohol concentration by volume, or where it is still visible, the trend has been for it to increase-- I've never seen the opposite occur. My first bottle of Carsile had 78% concentration. My replacement bottle has 81% concentration-- thats a 20% reduction in raw materials/oils. Is there any reasonable explanation other than the obvious one-- the house dilutes their releases over time?
Great video! I dig Grand Soir too and some frags that I tried from Jovoy Paris that I can’t recall right now (maybe Psychedelique or Private Label?) that belong to the category and probably in my younger years I would’ve stayed away from these but as my taste is expanding and maturing I tend to find these heavy and complex fragrances more and more appealing. I wish you mentioned the perfumers for each perfume and not only for MFK though.
I love Ambar Del Sur by Carner Barcelona, also Ottoman Amber by The Merchant of Venice... Many more ofc since I naturally gravitate towards ambery/vanilla/tobacco frangrances. Cheers
Thanks for reminding me of Serge Lutens Amber Sultan. I just bought it due to your reminder. But my favorite Amber is... Chypre Palatin by MDCI. And it IS an Amber more than it is a Chypré, despite the name. Amber is the most dominant accord, is at the very top of the Fragrantica accord stack list. It is complex with lots of notes but still decidedly Amber. I didn't know about Coty Ambre Antique. C1905. I always thought that Shalimar by Guerlain was the first Amber fragrance. Maybe that was the first application of the name "Oriental". I've always considered Amber and Oriental as the same thing.
Amber has a smell. I live on the coast of Baltic sea and there is quite a lot of amber that is on the seafront. When it dries down it smells like amber used in perfumes. My doughter loves to play with amber and then her hands smells lovely. This form of amber is quite sappy, but hard. For use in jewelry etc it gets polished so it is hard. And when polished it looses it smell.
I loves Ambres Sultan and Précieux and at one time I was so in love with AP that I disliked AS but now I love them both. For me AP is still very interesting. I also love Ambre Loup- skanky!
Ambre Précieux is magnificent. I've recently got a 30ml of their new amber, Ambre Tibet and it's up there with it. Trading the lavender for a slightly medicinal and herbaceous eucalyptus and a hint of a juicy rose. Although I want to love amber, it's usually paired with vanilla, which my nose is sensitive to and I rarely enjoy in perfume.
I bought ambre precieux and they included a sample of Ambre Tibet. I immediately ordered the big bottle of Tibet, I like the eucalyptus note more than the lavender facets. So happy to hear someone mention it!
@@bettybbags I was able to go to Esxence last summer, where I tried it and I've been waiting for it to be available to buy. Finally got it about a month ago.
In my Amber top 5 is Au Coeur du Désert from Tauer and an amber with a kick would be Overture Man by Amouage. I ordered a sample from MPeG to check out Ambre Precieux but it has too much of a powdery 70s vibe for me: it’s like the flamingo dancer Maja by Myrurgia is hopping out with that one. It’s more prominent in Ambre Doré, yet still a reason to pass in Precieux.
Love your channel Ashley! Question-how do you access so many fragrances to smell outside of work; aside from ordering samples? Do you just test in stores, etc?
i finally got why you called Le Male in the Animalic Video an Animalic Fragrance xD IT kinda has a Dirty sweaty Vibe to it ngl.... its like a sweeter Version from Kouros
Petrified sap (aka amber) does have a smell. You might be thinking of polished and sealed amber used for jewelry. Amber has a deep resinous, sweet note which is what amber perfumes attempt to emulate. Buy some raw amber and see for yourself.
Hey, Ash! I wanted to write this to you after spending some time resmelling all the fragrances in my collection: Some were more potent than I remembered them. What is your experience with this? I can especially refer to a fragrance that was quite weak when I got it and after 2y of sitting on my shelf it turned into a beast - Cavalli Uomo... Anyway, take care and hope to hear from you on this..
Come on Ashley, make some time for a new video. Summer is coming up and we need your thoughts on a list of classic that work wonders in the summer. Cheers
Absolue Pour le Soir from Maison Francis Kurkdjian was the most sublime amber. Raunchy and sweet, with benzoin, cedar, rose honey, incense, ylang ylang and cumin

Absolutely spot on about Ambre Sultan; I have ordered Kalemat based on your recommendation, thanks! I'm looking forward to smelling it.

Ashley thxs for a excellent presentation & great choices in a interesting category I really enjoy Akkad by Lubin
Ashley have you thought of doing a top 5 or 10 of mens based Lavender/Barbershop fragrances .
Serge Luten is my absolute fave! OMG have you tried Fumerie Turque? Incredible!
Nice video
MPG is an outstanding house, Iris bleu Gris and Garrigue along with Ambre Preciuex are some of my favorites.
Thank you so much for the information😊
My favourite amber fragrance is Grand Soir

Great video and I enjoyed it and I'm going to try these fragrances and have a blessed day
Kalimat is really a unique fragrance long time ago and still unique in my openion,, thank you so much and best wishes 👋💗

Hey Ashley, great list!!. Have you smelled Boadicea The Victorious Iceni? …. Wow, what a great Amber fragrance. It definitely makes my List.

Ambre Premiere
Always enjoy your videos! 😘😘😘
Thank you for posting this helpful video.
I love the Merveilles line! Amber & Elixir are tied for my heart.
Agreed with many on this list. One I would add would be Ambra Nera by Farmacia SS. Annunziata.
Thank you so much for making videos. I always learn something new from you. Love the Bardot in the background (i think that’s Bardot lol)
Serge Lutens - Ambre Sultan is amazing , lasts forever with a great dry down
I’m so in love with Kalema and grand soir!!!
I had never heard of Ambre Antique by Coty 😱 I thought the first was Émeraude. Thank you.
I love Ambar Del Sur by Carner Barcelona, also Ottoman Amber by The Merchant of Venice... Many more ofc since I naturally gravitate towards ambery/vanilla/tobacco frangrances. Cheers
You've selected some real All-Stars for this video. Some truly magical scents.
Love ambers! My favs are interlude man, tango, the dark side, also ambre sultan and sahara noir.

Ashley will you ever review the Le Labo classic lineup? Or is the house just not to your taste :O Thank you for this list !!

Ashley when you coming back to the channel
Ashley back in the day you ranked the Lhomme ideal fragrances with Sebastian. Where would the newer Extreme rank?
Dior Ambre Nuit, rose and amber. So good.

Lately I've been really enjoying Amouage Opus VI (this has recently been discontinued but is still widely available)
Have you smelled Click Song? If so what are your thoughts on it?
Love your channel Ashley! Question-how do you access so many fragrances to smell outside of work; aside from ordering samples? Do you just test in stores, etc?
Ambre Precieux definitely an amber standard. 💛
i finally got why you called Le Male in the Animalic Video an Animalic Fragrance xD IT kinda has a Dirty sweaty Vibe to it ngl.... its like a sweeter Version from Kouros
Hey Ash, please recommend for me your top 3 Mens fragrance that are attention grabber?
Grand Soir♥
In my opinion the *amber* is one of the most sensual notes 💚
Petrified sap (aka amber) does have a smell. You might be thinking of polished and sealed amber used for jewelry.
Amber has a deep resinous, sweet note which is what amber perfumes attempt to emulate.
Buy some raw amber and see for yourself.
It does have a smell.
I believe you are correct, most everyone is referencing the smell (or lack there of) from the processed stone like pieces.
Hey, Ash!

Serge lutens Amber Sultan is a master piece. Love it so much. It's my favourite so far.
