FLAGS: sorry the flags were messed up in the Baltics! Love your countries - please don’t be offended😩🙏
Thanks for the video. I have a question - is there any talk about regulating seat pitch in the EU or UK? Coach is pretty miserable for more than 2 hrs.
The flags are all wrong also half of the countries are Central Europe not Eastern Europe
Calling Central Europe as Eastern Europe...
Maybe you should make other kind of videos, because you just showed your ignorance and lack of cultural respect...

@@dantetre Get down off your high horse. Anyone can make mistakes. The thing is to correct them as soon as you become aware. Do you know the flag of Ireland, or of its provinces? I thought not. Something similar to the Hungarian flag, although the stripes are vertical, and there are subtle difference in the colour shades
I think Sweden had a “war” against Ryanair in the past and actual won with Ryanair closing one of their bases.
Oh yeah Denmark had a similar situation with Ryanair as well like 8 or 9 years ago if I recall correctly, due to their labour practices.
Next: Iceland or UK(Scotland)
Ryanair is going to launch domestic flights in Sweden this autumn lmao
There's another round coming as FR opens a base at ARN the next autumn.
Well the fact is that they didn't succeeed, Ryanair still runs flights to other nations from ESKN (ICAO code) which Sweden wants them to stop.
Another issue with Wizz Air from a norwegian citizen point of view:
I live in a northern city of Norway. Since the start up, they have failed to land five! times under a year. From january of 21, they have cancelled their trips until march, and reduced their frequency.
At my closest airport, they use the same airplanes as SAS and Norwegian, and blame the conditions, while SAS and Norwegians lands on time, or before the schedule. Within my groups of friends, there is a joke "Fly with wizz, its a mystery where you'll land!"
Oh yes, it's also a mystery where you take off by the way. I once booked a flight from Vienna to Malta and somehow flew three days later than planned. From Budapest.
@@jakedotnet wow that took an unexpected turn.
I agree with the comment, also I would like to add, their planes are not corona friendly at all!
æ har aldri hørt om Wizz Air. aldri sett dæm før. men æ bruke bare norwegian eller sas uansett
Indeed your right. I also live in an Northern Norway City and feel like that!
“Lastly, vvvdddrrrhhh”
That part was absolutely hilarious as a Norwegian. Totally unexpected!
He sounded swedish
I came to the comments just for this 😂

Basically, Wizz is starting to act like Amazon, but in the air.
Or Ryanair
Yep cheap labour for young people ahahahah
so a they are a bunch of pricks
@@mstrmren Even Ryanair paid better than Wizz. That's how bad they are.
More like Walmart. Amazon has excellent benefits
As a norwegian, i can say that i dont know anyone who flies Wizzair anymore here in Stavanger. The only ones who do are non Norwegians travelling here for tourism and stuff like that. We see quite a bit of news on the matter aswell and it isnt helping xD
Yeah that was my thought, even if Norwegians boycott Wizz, the cheap labor from Poland, Hungary, etc will still keep them afloat.
Eg har aldri hørt om flyselskapet før nå.
I didn't realize the Polish could do something other than plumbing.
Norwegian Air Shuttle registered in Ireland to pay less corporate tax and enjoy greater business benefits at the cost of lower employment regulation, I don't see Norway calling to boycott Norwegian Air.
My son was to fly with Wizz from Vienna to Malta a couple of weeks ago but missed the flight due to very strange handling practise at the gate, i.e. despite being there. He flew later the same day with Air Malta. Wizz? Never again.
It cannot be overstated how much scandinavians hate union busting.
Anyone should hate union busting. That said, it can go too far the other way as well, where unions become corrupt and basically ruin things for the workers they're meant to represent.
@@NerothLoD In Norway we communicate instead. The employers has their unions, and the unions talk. It's what we do here. We work together with other who have similar needs and gain immense power. Everyone does that, alone we're week and vulnerable.
@Marlboro Light Where did you get that bizare idea? The scandinavian countries are some of the most ethnically and culturally homogenous in the world. 80%-90% of the population are of scandinavian origin and as i understand it there are entire states in the US whose majority population is ethnically scandinavian as well. So im not quite sure in what way we are being "cleansed".
@@Taurmin Leave him alone. He's obviously scared of people who are different.
@@Taurmin Probably he means by black people existing. You know, Great Replacement bullshit
Well starting a war against labour unions in Scandinavia seems like a pretty uneducated business decision.
As a Norwegian i will never travel with an Airline who deny the labour rights we have fought for. I will continue to use only companies I am certain follow the set laws, rules and expectations we have to companies in Norway, even if that means I have to pay more, it's solidarity amongst workers.
That’s why I won’t fly SAS anymore after their pilot strike in 2019. Clearly they’re not treating their crew properly.
If you genuinely care about workers' rights you would have to boycott China. But you don't care about them if they're not stationed in Norway.
$60 million out of a $1 trillion sov wealth fund, they probably just forgot it was there
I mean that's about 1/16666 of the value, so it'd be like someone making 33332 losing 2 dollars in their couch each year
It's not forgotten.
The fund is heavily scrutinized.
@@Luredreier i know, that was a joke :)
@@Luredreier Yeah that too, and they also have their own blacklist
The fund's investments are scrutinised, but rely on accurate and unbiased ESG-reporting (Environmental, Social and Governance). One such rating agency is Bloomberg, and they have given Hungary a high ESG score. The problem being this score is based on a government self-assessment. For instance you have a right to organise in workforce unions in Hungary, which increases score. As we have seen, the right to organise does not protect you from harassment, discrimination and termination. So Wizz air is ethical by Hungarian standards and ESG is does not weigh in other ethics.

If the national legislation says you can't operate in the country unless you allow union recognition, then I'm afraid that's how it has to be. They can't say "Oh, well, we'll let you operate" because that then allows a precedent which undermines the legislation.
It may have to do with the 3 month rotation, if none of the employees are actually citizens and dont live there, then that may be a loophole that needs closing.
As part of the EEA, Norway is obliged to let companies from other member states operate there. Norwegian labor laws only apply to employees hired in Norway.
These are 100% inland flights. Inland flights should always have a minimum % of local employees.
But Norwegian air (used to ) have a similar way of using Spanish and U.K. crews flying domestically in Finland and Sweden as they are cheaper, the employment laws followed are those of the base of the staff
@@nicholasuszko They can't - it would breach EEA rules. If Norway wants the benefits of EEA membership, it has to comply with the rules of EEA membership.
Clearly Norway isn't doing it just to keep Wizz Air out, but rather they're backing up their legislation. More power to the Norwegians.
But this is regulated by European, not national, laws :)

it’s a hellhole here in norway for wizz air. they’ve been boycotted by the entire aviation industry and have a terrible reputation rn
update: wizz air announced that they have stopped domestic flights in norway
Nobody:
Literally nobody:
This guy: yeah the baltics probably looks like this
This time Russian had invaded the baltics countries so hard, that they deform them
As a Norwegian, I knew exactly what this was about just by reading the title of the video! It's not that we don't want Wizz Air. We just want companies operating in Norway to respect Norwegian labour laws and practices. To have a major company without a unionized workforce is unheard of; Even small companies with less than 20 employees are mostly unionized. A few years ago, Foodora (Norway's biggest food delivery service) denied its employees the right to bargaining powers. That ended in a three-week strike and a massive boycott. WizzAir calls our behaviour childish; fair enough. If it's childish to demand welfare leaves and employment security, you can call us childish all you want. However, I call WizzAir childish for suing local governments for boycotting them. Why did they sue? A public boycott is legal, but they sued because they "didn't give a warning before boycotting" -- like giving a heads-up would make WizzAir change anything.
Every country should do the same with all companies that use predatory practices.
which mean most american companies and a good number of these "startup" companies from east EU (and previously UK) which main principle is to fuck west / north EU countries (due to the multiple holes in EU regulations) to make their profit. Otherwise these "companies" are not capable to make profit.
The world would be a better place for sure. But I can think of a certain country's economy falling apart bc they're reliant on companies with predatory practices lol.
If they exist if because pepole buy it...
Ryanair has a lot to answer for with what it did to other LCCs in Ireland!
I live in norway, Even though wizz air has low prices I will never fly them. They had a full turnaround from Oslo to Tromsø because of 1 mm of snow on the runway, witch basically has no effect on landing or breaking. and its happened more than once
Well they only hire new and inexperienced pilots…the kind for whom it could spell disaster
@@CommieCat They probably also hire pilots on the verge of retirement that have passed the mandatory age of retirement at other airlines
@@CommieCat it's just a speculation from your side
@@MsJubjubbird mandatory retiring age for pilots is 65 in EU and it doesn't change from airline to airline
@@andriiyeromenkov6337 fair enough. I know BA had an earlier age then some of the UK budget airlines so their pilots who still wanted to fly would transition to those
And the irony is that normal Norwegian weather is to difficult for their pilots, so many flights to Tromsø just flew over the city before returning back to Oslo.
young an inexperienced pilots
So what you are saying is that basically they are not prepared to operate in the environment they have gone into.
@@luclin92 I cant answer for them, but the weather in Nothern Norway is difficult all year round. So I think the company bit over a bit to much!
@@heuhen No. Wizz Air had not updated their manuals. Their procedures says go around at certain conditions and procedures were followed. When the manuals were updated they could land.
If they had enough fuel to go all the way back to Oslo, would it have been safe for them to land in Tromso regardless of weather?
2:03 I’m triggered how could you mix up the Baltic states flags
Update: Wizz have dropped their domestic flight service in Norway.
by the looks of the comments it seems the shipping in inexperienced pilots for short term stints only backfired. It seems they couldn't manage the terrain and weather so had to keep diverting, which is expensive and leads to unhappy customers
Why does the way that he says Widerøe give me chills even though that’s how you actually say it
Most likely because his pronunciation is closer to Swedish, and he "jumps up" before the rø sound.

Based on people I know who have worked for both Wizz air and Ryan air, I avoid them at all cost.

Actually, I think the best counter-attack might be to finally bail out Norwegian. They'd provide some stiff competition since a major reason why Wizz is entering Norway is the supposed demise of Norwegian.
But European competition regulations would not allow to bail out a single airlines if it would have an impact on free competition.

Thank you for another great video. I have been around for quite a while. Back in the 60s and 70s, airlines used to say, Fly TWA from New York to Los Angeles. We have the best service. Service is what distinguished the airlines apart. Now, the word service does not exist. The big 3 airlines get together and decide how bad the service will be because competition is almost non existent. This is what happened when the industry was deregulated. No one cares and they will never care. It is very sad.

I have waited (as a Norwegian) for someone to make this video!
Norwegian Air Shuttle registered in Ireland to pay less corporate tax and enjoy greater business benefits at the cost of lower employment regulation, I don't see Norway calling to boycott Norwegian Air, why you may ask? The name says it all, at the end of the day, Norway is a signatory of the European Common Aviation Area, as well as the EEA, and Schengen, meaning that even by not being EU members, their citizens enjoy the rights of freedom of movement of people, capital, and services, an EU/EEA/CH citizen can move to another member country to work for less than 3 months ( up to 2 months and 29 days) in one period without be considered a tax resident or abide by local employment laws, it's fair game, and they've signed up for it, now own it and respect the contract you've signed.
I've flown with wizz air, and allthough it at first glance is cheap it comes with conditions that you have to fulfill. Like I forgot to check in online within a specific timewindow before the flight and had to pay over double the price of the ticket itself as a penalty.
Really good point, I remember having to go to Cluj Napoca in Romania regularly, first few times I flew Wizz from Eindhoven. Then I started looking elsewhere and have flown with Lufthansa and KLM from Amsterdam.
With all the fees for luggage, getting to Eindhoven Airport instead of Schiphol Airport and a simple drink on board being 7 euro's the savings I made with Wizz was at most €20,-. For that €20,- with KLM and Lufthansa I got better seats, free food/service and way better staff both on the plane and on the ground, and some peace instead of a 3 hour long commercial. An all round better experience, where with Wizz I always left the plane stressed. I understand there is a market for cheap but Wizz sacrifices a lot of quality for clients and personnel.
I don't think Ryanair is any different on that point - and as the video explains, Wizz is basically a Ryanair copy

@@snacksy7754 I am interpreting your comment to mean that this is a bad thing? If this upward mobility of the workforce were a bad thing there would be large amounts of unemployment in Norway. However, in reality, the unemployment rate in Norway is lower than in most other western countries, for example, the United States. The Norwegian labor force is more highly educated and/or specialized, meaning that most Norwegians do not want to do the jobs you described for low wages.
This is not a huge loss, as those jobs are not very productive for society and the fact is that most adults are perfectly capable of packing their own groceries, parking their own cars, etc. This strategy obviously works as Norway has one of the highest standards of living in the world. The WizzAir strategy is a "race to the bottom" strategy, where profits are prioritized over quality of life. How anyone could interpret it differently is baffling to me.
