The actor playing the librarian investigator was amazing. Seinfeld couldn't keep a straight face. The actor never broke character, and I'd bet that was ad-libbing about Jerry thinking it was funny. So he covered for Seinfeld, while at the same time piling it on to make Seinfeld laugh even more. Comedy gold.
Philip Baker Hall was an amazing talent who worked right up until his death at age 90 in 2022. He played memorable characters in so many great films it's almost crazy, including Air Force One, The Insider, The Talented Mr. Ripley, and The Truman Show. Two of his more underrated roles, for which I remember him fondly, were in the films A Gentleman's Game and Charles Busch's Die, Mommie, Die! His range was absolutely astounding.
Probably, and I don't want to over exemplify the enormous contribution or anything, but Bookman wasn't just a Library Detective, he was an Institution.
The scene with Jerry and Mr. Bookman, the library cop was the best scene of the entire series and he was the best guest star ever flawlessly delivering those numerous lines.
Seinfeld is a world all its own. Embedded in the American psyche, it's who we are, it's one of the secular sacraments of pure Western Entertainment. Seinfeld goes deep for the humor, by intentionally being ridiculously shallow.
My first was an SE with a whopping 2.5 Megabytes of RAM! I used Macs till '99 when I "went over to the Dark Side" and got a Windows PC for the games...so many games. I blame Seinfeld for ending the series the year before. ;-)
Jerry isn't much of an actor, he was lucky his co-stars are stratospheric. That's why he needed great actors like Philip Baker Hall as side characters.

It’s so weird to me how this show came to be. Because he sucks as a comedian so unless he financed the whole show, I don’t understand how he could get anybody on board.

That point he would do 😅

He played one of Larry’s doctors in Curb Your Enthusiasm 🎉Great actor. Also great in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Hard Eight”
@5:52 when he points at Jerry is faf

Soup nazi ?
Kramer's hijacked bus, is anyone a marine biologist?
Not the best scene IMO, but definitely the best acting.
That guy is funny, Seinfeld seems to be on the verge of breaking every time they cut him.
@@CharlieTWilbury Jerry said that they had to splice together about eight different cuts because he could not keep from laughing during the scene.
jerry broke character that whole library part. He really could not keep it together
And how could he? Too funny
All you joy boys out there...the party's over! 🤣
Funny guy.
I love Seinfeld, this trio is absolutely funny and hilarious 😂
It’s a quartet. There’s 4 of them.
there are 4 of them
Mr. Bookman is a wonderful character.
I love Mr Bookman. Such a brilliant character. Up there with the best of the universe of Seinfeld weirdos.
Philip Baker Hall was a national treasure!😃
Love the obviously human sounds for Farfel the dog 😂 was wondering if it was Larry David but apparently it was Tom Williams
Watch this during lunch, and risk choking during the Mr. Bookman scene.
9:33 The person in the audience!
🤣🤣🤣
Yeh, they got really creative with that canned laughter.
Jerry represented us, the common folk. The common folk who couldn't act.
I love that old Macintosh in the corner
Seinfeld is my favorite tv show of all time beating out All in the Family
Elaine during her sister-wife phase.
Hahaha
you and your good-time buddies
We could sure use a Bookman right about now.
Bookman 2024

'Joy Boy' 👈
That library cop was from the marines
rock was never my thing, but you put on a pair of shoes when you walk into the library Mr
I wonder how many takes of the Mr Bookman scene they had to do before Jerry could keep it together...
Have you ever seen him throw up?
What type of computer did Jerry have?
Im pretty sure Microsoft was at its peak around this time so id assume one of theres
It looks like an Apple MacIntosh SE, Apple's first commercially successful personal computer with a graphical user interface.
It changed from season to season, sometimes from episode to episode. At one point he had a 20th anniversary Mac, I kinda liked seeing that...🙂

"You contribute nothing to society"........😅
Most of us are.
Atomic wedgie ???????????
That dog sound was horrible. Couldn't they have recorded an actual dog barking?
Thats on purpose

Better call Bubba Wallace or Juicy Smollet! There's a scary rope in the very first clip!!!!!!
That searing Sony song sucks.
I was hypnotized, only for a second.

the laugh track is just so terrible....
It’s not a track. It was filmed in front of an audience.
It’s so weird to me how this show came to be. Because he sucks as a comedian so unless he financed the whole show, I don’t understand how he could get anybody on board.
Its likely he did, He;s a producer for the show. Plus this show only got so funny because Larry David wrote it tbh
