Happy 1000th Ralfy. I can't tell you how much of a positive influence you've had on me during my whisky journey over the past 8 years. So well done mate, and here's to another 1000! Cheers!👍

Whisky (and rum/Cognac/Armagnac/tequila) changed my way of drinking completely. I used to drink alcohol to get drunk but as soon as I got drawn into whisky that stopped. I've only been drinking/tasting alcohol for it's flavour for years now. All in all I'm drinking less than before and very seldom get drunk and if so it's never the purpose but more likely because of good company. A very good outcome compared to my past habits. Thanks Ralfy and congratulations for managing your channel successfully for so long!

Jack Daniel's Single Malt Oloroso Sherry finished whiskey @ 45% NAS!!!!! More than 80 pounds at Heathrow Airport T5 !!! Only available in London and Singapore airports.....🤣- Arran 10 forever!!!! Thanks, Ralfy. You show us the way along these 1000 reviews.

Tasted Jack D single malt at a Danish airport. A lot more interesting than the Old no 7, but It was more than twice the price of JD single barrel, and to my palate not as good. Easy to ignore at that price.

Always a pleasure to see your reviews. I am on my personal whiskey-journey since 20+ years and fully support your call to ignore all those "you have to try this and that" or "special cask" "XXX years". Simply try and you find, what you like. And yes: Whiskey is for slow and moderate consumtion, it is a joy. So always be responsible with drinking habbits.

A VERY HAPPY 1000th, Ralphy. Here's to many more, in order that we can all continue our whisky journey with you.😁👍🥃
There was some geat advice in this episode, as always. I particularly liked your views on Marketing whisky. I personally practically never buy any "special releases" from a distillery. Invariably they're at least double and sometimes three times the price the nose and taste experience merits. 90% of special releases are just an opportunity for the distilleries to ask for an inflated price and therefore bolster their profit margin.

While I am 100% for making your whisk(e)y journey your own unique bespoke endeavor, I also believe it's important to find a couple of experts or enthusiasts or "fellow travelers" to lean on for direction. Because when you're new, you need help and that can be hard to find. For me, it's Ralfy, Roy Duff, and Daniel Whittington & Rex Williamson of Whiskey Vault/Tribe. I feel I've been very lucky in stumbling upon them, they've helped me out so much since I began my whiskey journey 2.5 years ago and I started late in life. So again, big congrats to you Ralfy on this milestone. May you have thousands more, because whiskey travelers like myself still need your direction.

I’ve been watching your videos since about 2010, I figure you’ve racked up between 250 and 300 hours of useful and interesting advice.
Thanks for not being “Drink this, don’t drink that”.
My own journey began in 1987 while working on submarines in Dunoon in a little shop where the proprietor said “ they are all best” to my “what’s the best scotch?” Luckily he hand me a bottle of Glenmorangie instead of a bottle of Ardbeg. Since then I have tasted over a hundred different ones, and through your advice have passed on ones I didn’t care for instead of dumping them.

Thanks, Ralfy. You might find it interesting that I came to learning about quality Scotch Whisky the other way around. Back in early 2020 my wife and I suddenly started paying more attention to our health, what we consumed and how we lived. We stepped away from eating out and drinking just whatever brand was popular. I always cooked, but now I have learned to cook very well indeed. With that I found appreciation for more intentional beverage choices, and ultimately this channel. All in all, it is a more satisfying life.

Hi Ralfy, and congratulations on reaching 1000 reviews. It was the end of 1997 when I discovered Springbank. It was until it was too late that I found out that it was a fairly small distillery, and that most bottling were ‘small batch’ and weren’t going to necessarily available in the future. These days, I have a wee dram or two from the limited supply I still have. Right now, Astor Liquors in New York City has the 30 year old foe a mere $5000, limit one per customer 😮

"Forgettable junk" was never my thing. Actually, I am still getting pissed on a flight of 4 rums (malternatively). Interestingly, I am now placing the most costly Rum now at the low part of the chain.
However, I am certaninly a Whisky afficionado! And I am very much looking forward to your takes on available Scotch Whiskeys!
edit: there is also no shame in putting on someone's suit first and then develop your own thing! Just: try to choose wisely on whom you follow first! And yes! "Have confidence in your own jorney!"

I have been fond of whisky for the past 15 years. However, it has become a rare event for me to enjoy a glass of malt because I simply cannot get myself to crack open a 70cl bottle. It is simply too much whisky for me 🤷🏼‍♂️
I sooo wish the industry would make 35cl a standard. I realize it may not mean that the price would be proportionally cheaper, but I suppose it will stull be cheaper. I would certainly enjoy more whisky if the amount was more manageable.

Hey, I want to buy my first bottle of Whisky, but no smoke tastes at all. I like things sweet and smooth. Obviously I'm a beginner, so want it smooth, sweet and something non offensive. I've got £50.00 = $60.00. I don't want sugar sweet, but a sweetness you can taste and smooth. Don't mind a tiny burn, but I've got heartburn, so need to be careful. Thanks all.

Drinking less and drinking better! This is a discussion that the small circle of my fellow bourbon enthusiasts and I have been having. Same thing is happening in bourbon as in scotch. Too much young/NAS, chill filtered, low proof, unknown blend/source and/or finished in various barrels. All for 'premium' prices! It's become difficult to navigate the swath of products available. Too much similarity, too much overlap in many of the offerings and not near enough originality or quality.
