Bloody Mary was a nickname given to Mary 1st of England, thanks to her persecution of Protestant heretics, who she burned at the stake, I remember a poem about her “Mary Mary quite contrary” I’m pretty sure, a quote from the poem was “pretty maids all in a row” which was a reference to her many miscarriages so the public were very harsh and made fun of her. I’m not sure if that has anything to do w the urban legends but I think it’s interesting
she was also the daughter of king henry the 8th and hated protestants because her father started the protestant religion to divorce her mother i think
“Whom” 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂
Pz what?

uh hi, so the story Jack tells at around 16:00 is called 'Final Escape' and is in 'Alfred Hitchcock Hour'. It's on Dailymotion, is in black and white and is a really good episode and story. I suggest watching it :)))
i swear everyone's primary school had a bloody mary thing happen 😂
Not mine sadly
Omg I have a story for you,so year 3 bathrooms had a elevator next to it and so one died in the bathroom,so basically everyone did Bloody Mary at lunch, and I don’t know if it was shit lights but the lights flickered
Nah was a Charlie Charlie thing for me

Can you do a podcast about weird ways people have died.
Omg yesss!
no cuz they'd have to stop themselvess from laughing
Wasn't there a TV show about that
I think it's called a 1000 ways to die. I'm not too sure though.
I think it might have been 1000 ways to die, I remember watching that show and it was interesting
Stupid deaths, stupid deaths, they're funny cos they're true!
Jack serious question:
Why do you release pretty much every podcast in it's entirety in clips first and not do the clips after?
Whenever the full podcast releases it's feels like i'm just re-watching all the same clips i've seen over the last week but in sequence, it makes me want to switch off,
When it's done the other way round and clips get posted after, it's like re-watching your favorite bits from the long watch and it's re-living it, it has a different vibe to re-watch
WestIsOnFire just don't watch the clips until after then

Wow imagine actually being stuck in a coffin though, just imagine that. It’s giving me anxiety
I’m from Wisconsin, and remember this well. I think the girls were all around 12. I think they planned it to happen at a sleepover, but became nervous. They then decided to do it at a park bathroom or pavilion. The two that did it had backpacks with food and pictures of their families. They were planning to walk to Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest (a 6 and a half hour drive from where they were). They thought that he had a mansion in the middle of the forest, and would live with him. The poor girl was stabbed many times. I think a cyclist found her near the bike trail.
Hahaha I picked the wrong moment to have a drink, just hearing jack say “was it a smurf”
So I've watched every one separately and I'm now watching this 😀

I get so happy I get when a podcast is uploaded lol especially now 😂
RedBing191 same, I ruin it for myself watching the 10 mins clips tho
The GET SAFE bit absolutely killed me😂😂😂
Omg we had to have an assembly about Bloody Mary too in elementary school 😭😭
Thanks for releasing these during these boring times, they are so fun!
The amount of times Stevie was interrupted makes me sad 😂👏🏻
I was scared shitless about the Bunny Man one in the first urban legends video because I live near where it happened and my parents grew up even closer
lmao have you seen the images of the people in the bunny suits hanging out around there
I love when he said “if he’s fist bumping people to death he is an urban legend😂😂”
Thank you for all the scary content recently!
The intro is a little Ironic considering Dudey isn't gonna be a co-host in the near future

I've heard for a while that Dudey is no longer part of happy hour, anyone know why? Thanks
james meredith Jack and Jordan started to drift as friends so he’s no longer a permanent co host, he WILL still be a semi regular guest for the spooky stuff
I was just watching your podcast also please post more hour long ones too!!
Love this podcast! Its such a laugh and good content
when stevie mentioned a hook all i could think about was man door hand hook car door
Love these urban legend videos! And the ghost story ones too, creepy AND funny to watch! Brilliant
The obsession over the hook 😂😂
This is exactly what i needed
The one about the prisoner and the coffin it’s from a tv show, Carl Pilkington talked about that years ago 😂
The Bloody Mary story I grew up with was a version where she was some sort of nurse during a world war, can’t remember the details but yeah.
Looking in my mirror while listening to this podcast cause I like to live dangerously
Absolutely love these
Happy hour podcast should definitely do more “horror” pods..
these 4 are the best combo i wld listen to these guys for ages
The version I heard of Bloody Mary is that Queen Mary never had a child and was really sad so when she became a ghost, if you say "I took your child" and then Bloody Mary comes out the mirror and tears you apart.
Oh my god i spent a solid hour looking for this recently... Cheers lads
Mirrors are also seen as ‘windows’ to the ‘other side’
"i fukin' gave her right hook" that shit got me.
15:52 Reminds me of the story about the man who was waiting for an urgent phone call to come at midday. When it didnt come he jumped off the roof. As he was falling past his window he heard the phone ringing.
Watch this podcast everyday I love it even if I’ve watched them ten times before
The version of 'Don't look back' I've heard is the same but the tapping was his blood and the cop was the killer. And the story about the truck following the girl is called High Beams, I love that story so much
OMFG the story with the priest and prisoner we were meant to act it out in drama
Big up Mr. Candy
WTF! That is dark for school kids lol.
Loving the pod rn
3:09 Jordan Defos been watching Brooklyn 99
My favourite podcast for sure
Weird not having Robbie Knox after I’ve been watching The Happy Half Hour
I remember this being a thing at middle school! And doing it in the toilets 🤦♀️
One of those two things sounds like more fun than the other one.
19:33 “give it a little punt”😂
Is this an old podcast because I remember jack mentioning the opening mirror story on the Halloween podcast with Robbie knox
i was watching this in my dark room, and my coat sleeve on my chair was sticking out on the edge of my peripheral vision, and i kid you not, its the most scared ive ever been from an object in my life, i fully jumped, nearly punched my chair, was terrified frfr
“Did it choke?” Maybeee “was it a smurf 🤔”
During this period in everybody's life, I have one message for all of you, make sure to...
GET SAFE
I’ve heard a different variation of the story with the guy hanging above the tree and the knocks were his feet. In the variation I know the police come to her car and tell her to open the door and not look back, like in the other other story, but obviously she did, and on the roof of the car was the killer with the boyfriends head in his hands bashing it on top of the car
Jake Matthews they did see him on the roof. He escaped from a mental hospital and killed her boyfriend and the police were trying to get her out while he was distracted
I heard that coffin story on the Ricky gervais xfm episodes. They said it was a tales of the unexpected episode
I thought the exact same, Ricky tells Karl the story and Karl’s blown away. I think this is where jack really got the story from, with him being a massive Gerv fan.
I like how everyone tries to see the facts and jacks just like bollocks
Miss these long episodes
lozzy, stevie and jordan look like the before, during and after photos of a body transformation in that order
there is a film called "Burried" and it is entirely filmed inside a coffin, but it is somehow an incredible movie
Lozza, what a lad. Definitely someone Jack would take the piss out of if there was no association. Double Hard Bastard
Thank god there's another episode #fadeforlozzy
Karl Pilkington talked about the coffin story in one of the XFM podcasts but some of the details were slightly different. He also forgot some of the vital information but, still.
Scratch marks inside a coffin was common. My grave digger neighbour had to move old graves for new ones and he's witnessed it, along with his grave diggers work mates seeing it too, along with other horror stories he's shared.
Bloody Mary terrified me in primary school, the story at my school was something about a wedding (I can't remember whether she died on her wedding day or whether it was a forced marriage that she ran away from but it was something along those lines), our school was supposedly built on the grounds of the remains of the church so there was extra weight to saying it in the bathroom mirrors there
The zodiac killer killed people at a "make out point", or atleast a few of his kills were
Pretty sure it was his first kill. 2 people, a couple that were parked in a car or some shit
And that one from New York who got caught forget his name tho.
I love these horror and creepy podcasts
The stories of the kids at the 'makeout point' definitely came from the Zodiac Killer
Stg that the truck flashing its lights one was in a children's short story book. Traumatised me at like age 7
Some graveyards had bells attached to coffins because people were buried alive so frequently, I'd say that part is pretty convincing
‘Get safe anyway here’s wham’ 😂
I live in the city where the slender man murders happened. They lived next to my friend
A similar thing to the coffin thing Jack mentioned happens in Les Mis. At one point, Cosette and Valjean are on the run from Javert and they seek refuge in a convent. Cosette gets in easily because she's like I'll attend and Valjean gets in because the gardener of the convent is a man he'd saved from a runaway cart by lifting it (which is why Javert recognised him by how strong he is because canonically, Valjean can lift like literally anything) and the gardener sneaks Valjean in inside of a coffin.
It might be how they get out now that I think about it, but I don't remember the details because a lot happens in that book because it's 2000 pages long and at one point, the plot stops so Hugo can explain why Napoleon lost Waterloo which takes 19 chapters. The book opens with the backstory of a priest who subsequently appears in one (1) scene. Marius hits his head against a tree for four hours when Cosette says she's leaving for England. Hugo also pauses the plot to explain the construction of the Parisian Sewer System and his opinions on religious cloisters.
I love how they put a blackburn accent on just because they say tony blackburn 😅😅
Love these types of episodes too btw
The story of mirrors in apartment buildings, that’s the origin of Candyman…
So when he climbed into the coffin on top of the dead priest he didn’t realise who he was but when he lit a match in the coffin he somehow recognised him. That makes no sense.

The story jack told was a hitchcock short film I think it was written by roald dahl, it was called final escape, I remember watching it in a lesson at school once
I’d just like to point out, that yes we have all heard of the urban legend of Bloody Mary but the legend that surrounds her comes from the fact that she was Mary 1 of England, daughter to Henry V111 and sister to Liz the 1. The bloody bit of her name referes to the amount of catholic’s she was responsible for burning at the stake during her time as queen.
Sorry my mistake she burnt Protestants not catholic she wanted to turn England into a catholic state after her father Henry V111 abandoned the catholic religion when he was king
Can i point out there's a adorable anime about hanako-kun!
Molly leigh was our bloody Mary "molly leigh molly leigh chase me round the apple tree"
The scratches on the coffin thing actually happened (not to a person called marry). It was during the plague I believe. they actually installed bells above graves so that If people were buried alive they could ring that bell.
The story about the prisoner and the priest that Jack was telling was what Karl Pilkington was telling to Ricky and Steve on one of their podcasts but it was a female prisoner lol
Jack, Jordan, Lozzy, Stevie . Get safe anyway here's Wham.
Please do some longer ones like 1hour and 30 mins

Hey guys, I was wondering jack if you could tell me the device your sister uses to monitor her blood sugar. I’m 22 and a diabetic as well. Thanks
They look like 3 brothers 😂😂 the athletic one the fat one and stevie

The mary one was scary until he said that he tried it, that made me feel way better.
Yes! I've been so excited for this
The content i need to not go insane during this quarantine
This podcast is class
They didn't use to Bury them as deep as 6ft.Also it was a common fear as some people had been declared dead when alive. That's where the use of the string connected to the toe or finger, through the coffin to a bell, came from.
