- Video taking a look back to better days for me. Taking a look at Newcastle Upon Tyne from both sides of the River Tyne. Also glimpses of Gateshead back in the Day. Hope you enjoy my Latest Video. I am passionate about the History of North East England. I have several Facebook Groups as well looking at History. I only wish History at School had been more interesting. Take care everyone Colin C.

This is so enlightening a different world ,but it was the world our great great grandparents lived , its wonderfull for us to see the world our ancestor's live in ,and making us so proud as they had it so hard ,and worked so hard to earn a crust , the building's where mammoth back then but also buetifull in a strange way these picture are real treasures to the northerners who have an interest in our past, thank you a million for putting these on show ,we should always never forget our true roots .THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I love my native city of Newcastle I live in Devon now

Lloyds bank was on West Street in Gateshead.
Cheers Mall I dont know what I was thinking lol
Look how elegant and beautiful Eldon Square looked until the 1970's developers ruined it with that ugly shopping arcade. They tore the heart out of Newcastle to build that god awful place.
I totally agree with you ,tore the heart out of the place ,and No one asked the people before they do it so nothing has changed there , developers won't be happy till there's not a single trace of our old north ,like there trying to get rid of our past /history I wonder why ,it makes me so angry what they are doing.
Someone pointed out that Lloyds bank is on West Street in Gateshead I have it down as High Street I must have had a bad day there.
