Love this photo, two little devils tempting their instruments and us to sinfully beautiful joys and transforming Schubert into something new in the process

This arrangement by Julian Bream can be heard on the BBC/testament CD SBT 1333 played by Bream and Williams from a broadcast in 1985

Do you know when it has been recorded and in which album?

It’s from a CD released in 2005 on the Testament label. From julianbreamguitar.com, “Testament has released a compilation of recordings broadcast on the BBC Radio and these actual recordings were never previously released on LP or CD. While some of these selections had been recorded and released on LPs prior and following to these broadcasts, some of these selections are the only available recorded versions of these pieces by Julian Bream.”

Guitar solo has its limits if you compare it with piano or organ. But in duo you have the same counterpoint and harmonic opportunities. Ad the best Julian and John and it doesn't get better.

guitar duo should be a more common thing. composers should compose for it

Was this originally recorded on their live album? And, any ideas whether they recorded JW's Brahms transcription, and if so, is it around?

I"m surprised that in Testament album are all 4 movements ! I know only first movement Allegro con brio

A BBC recording, and you can order it from their studios. Bream transcribed it from an early Schubert quartet
