Good video. The answer isn't a certification. It's where you train. A guy asked me to work for a large fitness company as a Fitness Manager ( fitness sales ONLY ) He was going to pay me 80k. The bottom line it was 2,000 sales p/day.
Your info is exactly the way I think. I was a navy rescue swimmer 20 yrs. I started doing fit training because I lifted for 14x a day and it was kind a cool. What ever my client did, I did as well. After 5 months I started doing private only. 540 a month p/client ($45.00 3x week). I opened a small studio 8 feet x 29 feet. It was funny. People come in and were upset because it was a joke. I said "Don't let the space fool you, I AM THE GYM" They didn't get that until session 1. Nobody speaks, Nobody does anything unless I say so....."hey you signed up for my bootcamp class in my nothing space" Honestly it was funny. People are sore for 3 days from running and pushups and jumping jacks. Eventually they shake my hand and I whip there ass as if they were going through navy swim school in San Diego. 2005-2017 ( 12 yrs now as a trainer ) only thing I changed since day 1 is ( Cook private for clients to motivate them ) my specialty is weight loss. I'm Tony, your info is perfect.

Excellent video! I recently passed my ACE cert and will start working at a gym soon! This is exactly what I want, to have my own gym, one day!

Hey! I just posted a video talking about how I opened my first gym at 18! Would love if it helped you!
Fabulous advice/information! Thank you for selflessly sharing your thoughts on the topic. Just subscribed!
Thank you so much for this, honestly I have trained so many people changed their lives completely that have spent hundreds on personal training and never saw any results and never charged a single dollar i do it because i love the art of empowering people, i've been seriously thinking about taking the leap and leaving this corporate job and pursue a career in what i love and i think this video gave me that push I need, thank you for this.
Thank you. Finally, a straight forward explanation of the personal training industry. Plus, I loved your closing.
I am taking my cert know and going to work at nysc in a few days for my first personal training job. My goal is to open a gym in a few years independent. Been watching your videos for awhile man. Thanks for all the valuable content.
Gainz Happen congrats bro
Thanks for being Transparent & Giving with this video.
The Bootcamp business idea is Smart. It is Win-Win for the PT & the Clients. Clients Pay Less but they also probably will have a better time because the Experience will be Social
thanks brother. real stuff. nice clear straight forward.
Thank you for this information! I'm new into this industry and absorbing all the information that I can to become successful and avoid major pitfalls that can come about. Just graduated college and plan on taking the ACSM-EP & CPT certifications.
Just found your channel and videos. Very helpful! I passed the NASM CPT exam in August and am now taking their FNS and CES courses. I want out of the corporate world so bad! I hate it. I've been wondering how I'm going to make a living doing personal training, though. I'm so glad I found this video. Thank you!
I am actually getting ready for my ACE exam and you answered a lot of my questions. Thanks a lot.
You look like Ronnie Coleman bro I swear
I clicked thinking it was him haha
Yeaaahhhh buddy! Ain't nothin' to it but to do it.
He looks like if Ronnie Coleman had a child with Adrian Peterson
Thank you brotha! On my way to finishing my NASM. Using all these tips
Your explanations are so clear and inspiring. I signed up to get my certification through ACE yesterday so I'm very excited to watch more of your videos so that I'm better prepared to start training my future clients!
+JenniLibs how goes the ace training certification? Im also signed up and studying with ace.

Please keep making videos about personal training as a career! Thanks for all the help, friend.

Love all of your information! I just got hired at a box gym and everything you had went over so far (in over 5 videos i've watched of yours), I have applied somewhere and it has helped tremendously.. Thank you.
Best advice ever in my life
I can’t believe I’ve never been to the gym before but want to become a personal trainer haha
Thank you so much for this info. Just stumbled upon your channel a couple of days ago and I'm loving this information. Soaking up as much as I can
Thank you Jonathan! You have all the right info my brother!! I appreciate your honesty and determination to help us!
so basically you will make 20k per year working 9hrs a day at a corporate gym?
JasonStriationfilms you've done the job? would you recommend it be part time? I am thinking of doing this part time for college. I figured I could make some nice decent money & it would look good on resumes "yea ive been a trainer through school, etc"
***** right. No I know somebody who decided to get some cheap certification & is now a trainer for school. Will probably do it few years after college too as a second job. Just was wondering if that would even be worth it. Thanks
Brilliant video, I've been looking at starting a career in the gym industry and this has really helped
Very helpful and thank you for your guidance and experience shared
Really great information, presented succinctly and clearly. You are excellent!
Great Video well put together with great advice. I’m starting the ISSA and will check the NASM.
What if you have a bachelor degree? Mine is in health and human performance. Basically exercise science and kinesiology. I've interned at 3 separate gyms. I'm looking into strength and conditioning but it seems so difficult to get into. My alternatives are cardiac rehab, exercise physiologist, physical therapist assistant (if your lucky), or personal trainer. What are your thoughts on doing a career type job with a wage of like 15 an hour just to get benefits, then pt in your spare time? Nearly all box gyms require a 4 year degree anymore.
+Mr814psn This is exactly my plan as well, good question.
CPT + Group Fitness Instructor certifications coming up this summer!
As well as half way done with my Exercise Science Degree!
How is it going man. I am at the same place right now as you were 5 years ago
This was my way of thinking, great advice, that's exactly one of the reasons why I don't want to work for a gym. I just really want the experience, my social skills are good and getting clients I don't find hard , it's just I don't think I have enough professional knowledge even though I am certified. That's what's making me nervous. Please help Johnathan, I love mist your videos which I've just started to watch.
Thank you for this information! I subscribed. I recently discovered I love working out and reasoned it would be something good do to for a living.
In Dubai, the average salary for a personal trainer is 1500 Euro per month.

GOOD 4 U... ANY JOB OFFERS?
have you gotten money or a job with your certification? might enroll.
Pauline Luna it's a fucking stressful job when you got bills to pay and you become desperate for clients, I suggest you take steroids to get an insane body then it's easier to get clients
Ozymandias Lmao then get a second job
Just got hired on as a fitness Manager , want to really make a name for myself. I have the passion and the drive to help other people and want to bring Value in their life's. Good video wisely made
Awesome video.
hey great video as usual ! I just had a question . I'm going to be a freshmen in college next year and I'm majoring in dietetics with a minor in kinesiology. I plan to get my personal training certificate sometime during school , probably in between years . my goal is to become a clinical dietitian during the day and maybe work at a big box gym after and before work 3-4 days out of the week . is this goal ideal or is it more ideal just to train my patients on the side somewhere ? Thanks in advance
***** hey i never thought of doing home clients thats a great idea! thanks for your advice i'm going to take it and use it :)
bootcamps are a dime a dozen dude.. small group training is where it appears to be. not to mention boot camps are way to generic anymore.. but yes, groups is where the money is. It is pretty obvious if you can train 10 people vs 1 you'll make more.. but good video thanks
+Rvqsx groups are.more.efficent and more profitable but there are benefits to one on one as well
you sound like a math teacher
So, I am I licensed real estate agent but have not started in that field, and I have been considering being a trainer, both require many of the same skills ( people skills, attention to details) and many more of course, they both require a pretty big investment and Los marketing etc.. What is your opinion as to which one to truly dive into?
Great info. Thanks.
Excellent video!
Thank you for this video!
thanks bro you answered a lot of questions
What are your thoughts about working for anytime fitness and paying them rent in order to train clients?
you are the best!! thank you soo much
Hello, I'm looking into becoming a cpt, what certification do you recommend? Also I've been an athlete all my life and I want to take this step, also where can I learn about nutrition and keeping up with discovers in exercise science without a four year school?
Good advice. Thanks
Okay so I live in Chicago and I wanted to train in parks and stuff but the weather is inconsistent. So what would you suggest with location of trying to do one on ones and camps
I really acquired so essential knowledge
Thanks for the information.
INDEED, it was a very helpful video
Thanks nice information 👍 👍
The goat
What's your business email

Can you make a video on which is the best corporate gym to work at to start off?
Hello... Thanks for the valuable information.
I've also decided to become a certified trainer... I'll be studying a 1 year of health science diploma followed by 2 year exercise science degree. After that I'm planning to get ACE certification... So please enlighten me that if i am missing something on this road to become certified personal trainer.?
Thank you...
thank you
How deep should you teach clients to squat? I know a lot of trainers avoid deep squats because of fear of injury from form breaking but deep squats are the best, right?
Very helpful bro.
Hey man I have a couple questions that I would like to talk to you directly about. I’m about to start my ace certification and would love some extra advice
What sort of non-competitive agreements do most big box gyms have? worried about working there then going to open my gym and not being able to operate for a year or 2 because of competition.
Great video. I live in NYC. I was thinking of training clients in rented gym spaces that charge 30/35 an hour and charging the clients 85 per session. My biggest hurdle is figuring out how to attract clients. Any thoughts?
How to sell personal training all 3 are in Manhattan, specifically lower manhattan/tribeca/chelsea/LES areas
Where can I apply to become a pt or work at a gym? No one near me is recruiting and I have no experience eas a pt but I do know a lot abt fitness
I'm going to do my personal training diploma next march / April, I was wondering who the top providers are or the best company to go with in the uk are ? I was thinking of doing my training with ptacademy, as they are fairly cheap and also offer a guaranteed placement afterwards, but the price isn't the main concern for me - I would rather pay more for the training which will give me a more successful career .. whats your views on this ? I want to branch into strength and conditioning, and possibly massage not long after
Hi there! One question, what is a bootcamp about? what is the purspose of it?(physically talking )
***** My personality is similar to yours where i'm more of a quiet person and i'm not a cheerleader. Was it difficult for you to teach the group personal training classes because of that?
***** I have to disagree brother. Personal training is tailored to the individuals goals. In group classes, you can't pinpoint each persons needs. I interview each client, to find the areas that need work, then proceed with program development. That is impossible with a group. Take care and keep training!
Pomona Chicano He could do simple modifications to the movements. Starting from a good position first usually makes a movement work for anybody, and if there is still an issue some mobility exercises can improve it over time. Going after the big elephant in the room for that is important too because coaches generally tend to complicate such matters trying to figure out what's going wrong.
So you recommend NASM over NSCA? I take my NSCA test this week.
Thank you sir. I love your vids and all the information that comes with them!
What are your thoughts on the ISSA cert?
GENIUS!!!👍🏻
