Thanks for sharing and also for the inspiration your videos give. I love woodworking and bow shooting as a hobby and this video gets me pumped to start a bow project. You rock Peter.
Very nice work! I like the combination of dark horn handle, dark horn tips and the black and white pattern of the snake skin. The overall shape of the bow is a real eyecatcher, only I would have shaped the tips a bit smaller with a pointed end. But this is my personal preference. Congratulations very pretty bow. And it seems performant!
Beautiful job Peter, l have made quite a few bows myself but have never sinew backed one but it's on my list of things to do, I must say if I did work inside the house like you my wife would throat punch me, your lucky you came out unscathed lol, I'm looking forward to seeing you take a Roe with it, thanks for sharing.
Awesome bow! I’m currently in the middle of making a self Ash longbow, taking my time as I don’t want to ruin it. Just finished making my daughter a little primitive style Hazel bow. I hope I can make one as nice as yours one day.
Well done Peter, loved watching you rough it out. There is just something about building a bow like that, that makes you feel good inside to shoot and hopefully hunt with. it is both beautiful and very functional. Alas for me now, the poundage is a little too much as I am now down to around 43-45#. loved the Sea snake skin, it is awesome and since you backed it as you did, should be a great bow for a lot longer. It has more meaning to you since you used the sinew from the deer that you have harvested. For me, the Very Cool Factor is Very High! can't wait to see you put a deer down with it my friend.
I love everything about this video. The bow is fantastic Peter. My attempts have mearly turned into the Worlds best looking firewood ha. 55lb? So, will we see you maybe taking a Roe with it? Top job mate, cant beat a Fiskers Hatchet either........
This is a beautiful bow! I watched the video from beginning to end, every second, and I liked it a lot. So I must ask, where did you buy horn and snake skins? I know that sinew can be bought from 3rivers, for example. And what wood did you use? It must be a joy to shoot a bow, which you made yourself, and so nice one at that. Greetings, and happy shooting!
Well! The snake skins is bought from a Danish webshop, which sells leather goods and stuff! But the sinew is of course from bow killed roedeer, which I’ve hunted my self. The horn are regular cow horns, or drinking horns, which I have bought on one of the viking markets. But horns like that can be bought in webshops as well. Thanks for watching, and I’m glad you like the bow.

@@peterjuulsgaardwhat i mean is what would you do with the extra game meat? I got me one buck last month that will do for the next 3-4 months. its easy now to get more while the grass is high. but i dont know what to do with the xtra meat
Uh, PETER! Load the teeth of your rasp with soapstone & push away only...you have better control & the teeth won’t load up with shavings as much. I have a set of Nicholson rasp from course to fine with which I can take off a lot of wood fast or very slowly leaving a smooth finish. Is that sinew from your harvest? 👍🏻👍🏻
Yeah I know about the rasp, but you know. I dont always do what I´m supposed to haha. Thanks for watching! And yes :D the sinew is from my roedeer harvest´s
With traditional gear we can hunt from roedeer size animals and down. If we want to hunt bigger game it requires to much kinetic energy. Compounds can do it!
Wow peter, very nice! Three observations: 1. I wouldn’t have that kind of patience. 2. My wife would kill me if I made a bow in my kitchen. 3. Wouldn’t Danish Oil be just called “oil” where you are? Lol. Just kidding. Great job!👍
Haha! 1. I have problems with patience my self, but over the years it’s getting better. And so is the bows. 2. I have the perfect wife🤘😆 3. I dont have a clue why it’s called Danish oil or if it actually are from Denmark. But I know it’s traded all over the world. Popular for knives handles because it is hardening up. Thanks for watching buddy!
