I always laugh a bit when I see dudes wearing a belt all the time. Even on a treadmill.
Same, or some skinny kids that just started working out never letting go of the belt.
I will say that if you have a fairly heavy bodybuilding routine, the lower back gets hit quite a lot. Standing curls, barbell rows, dumbbell rows, squats, deadlifts, overhead press (to some extent), basically any exercise where you hold anything in front of you or you have to stand and stabilize your core, it taxes the lower back. If you work out very regularly, it can be nice to give the lower back a break sometimes by wearing a belt.
@@alaron5698 Nah that’s why you learn how to do the exercise properly and don’t ego lift
@@thotbreaker2395 I think regardless of how you do them, unless you have a core made of steel your lower back can get fatigued when you do day after day, week after week exercises that tax the lower back. Now, perhaps more core work can alleviate these problems, but not everyone works core quite that much, and then the belt can help.
@@alaron5698 if your lower back can't handle standing curls, you should probably seek a doctor lol

I even started using my belt during heavy barbell rows, and it surely helped me keep a straight back!
I use it also for Romanian deadlift’s it helps a lot
Want a belt for top sets on anything that fatigues your lower back to be honest. Even if you think your lower back can take it over the course of a set your form breaks down and having a belt helps prevent some loss of form so its much safer for the lower back.
Thinking on using it because I injured my back trying to lift heavier in upper body exercises
@HolySwordExcaIiber it has been shown that muscle activation is not lower when using a belt, and there is no evidence that suggests it actually weakens the core
@HolySwordExcaIiber no
By this point, I mentally need one to keep form since I have trained so long with one. Whatever keeps my from hurting myself works for me
pretty smart to use one actually, didn't use one until i got a back injury deadlifting started using one after i came back 2 weeks later and never had i back injury since so they work pretty good i say

@@MineCreed It helps keep your core tight which makes you incredibly more stable. You should try it some time. Work up to a heavyish set without one, do a set or two, then put it on and see how much lighter the weight feels.
@@MineCreed Belt will make squatting and deadlifting much better once you're used to using one. It does take a few sets to get the hang of it. The added stability of a belt can easily add 20kg or more to deadlifts and will add 10-20kg on squats too.

He would never say we are weak :)
Why: tuck your beer gut in
How: loosely when doing upper body work

It made me so happy to hear you say it's just a tool
I think most important thing about belt is that it helps with not getting hernia, you have to train your core and your abdominals to be safe too. If you want to use belt for almost anything then don't, you are going to have weak af core and you can hurt yourself with handling weights
Funny enough I have been able to lift more, and my form has improved since I stopped using a belt. That being said, it is still a useful tool for most lifters. It just doesn´t seem to work for me.
Bracing with a belt is different than bracing without, if you weren't used to training with one your performance may dip until you adjust. Typically you should be capable of 5-10 percent more with a belt and the right form. Course, as the man said, not really necessary, and if you don't plan on using one spending your time to train with one might just not be worth it.
@@Jah_Coby Thats what so strange. I used it for some time and most of the time i used it my form was worse and my back would not let me forget it. But after I stopped using it my back felt better and I could feel my form improving.
@@7tunk different moves require the belt to have different positioning, like a squat and deadlift have the belt in different positions for example. If you wore the belt incorrectly that would likely impede good form rather than help it.
@@7tunk yeah there is the chance that perhaps the sizing or shape of the belt was counterproductive to you as well. Really tho it comes down to what you wanna do in the gym. If you had a bad experience, and it didn't seem to help your goals, well it's not really necessary. If you do become interested later maybe see if you can find someone very used to belt lifting to train beside
Mario ríos is gonna be happy with this one😂

Additional Tip: Using a Belt doesn't take core out of equation, Core will still do the same amount of work With/Without the belt
I feel like i's more a different thing. There's a different need out of your core with vs without a belt. Whether it's the "same amount of work" I can't say I haven't seen a study published about it or anything.
Correct your core has the same engagement and does the same work it just helps keep it more rigid and stabilised
It's a crutch, plain and simple
If you can't lift something without an accessory then you can't lift it
With the exception of Lifting straps because grip strength will never match back strength so it's a limiting factor but Transverse abdominal strength is paramount for daily movement and stability of the torso
Soo many fat guys lifting heavy weights becuase their abdominal muscles are weak and their gut hangs out from lack of core work and over reliance on a lifting belt
This is the absolute best strength channel. No narcissism. No arrogance. No blustery blow-hardedness.

How is it different? Can you please elaborate? I thought the bracing technique is the same.
@@SuupaaSaiya-jin when you're lifting with a belt you're kind of bracing "against" the belt, because it's there to hold in your mid section solid like a tree trunk. There are some excellent demonstrations online from power lifters in all the ways a belt might affect your form, as different people may need to seat it slightly differently.

I've always thought it's only to prevent injuries with really heavy lifting :O
Nope. It shouldn't really be used to prevent injuries. It should be used to improve performance. You reduce your risk of injuries by using good form and practicing good load management
@@DOKTORPUSZ Yeah I know that for sure now :D

Imagine getting a like from daddy Noel.
I thought the belt was worn to prevent hernias?
If anything, personally I would recommend using a belt once you've gotten some experience lifting. Practise proper bracing, valsalva manœuvre and all of that, learn to create and maintain tension. Once you've learmt how to brace properly without a belt, then using a belt to maximise weights is a good idea in my opinion.
My dad used his belt very often back in the days
I thought that your stomach may pop out thats why u wear that 😆
Bro where have you been we have been worried about you
Belts on our gym doesn't even fit on me smh
Yes, i need a lifting belt. I'm a ArmWrestler and we do NOT go easy on heavy weights. So, I went back to the gym after a LONG break to study, and when i came back, I did dumbbell rows with the heaviest in the gym and i was doing 12-15 reps each side. It makes today 2 days from my workout and my lower back is in so much pain. Bottom line is, whenever you're going to lift heavy, use the DAMN belt.
Doesn't it prevent you to have a hernya?
Noel daddy has the highest rizizity🥵
Differences between a 4 inch belt, vs a 4 inch belt that is tapered in front to 2.5"?? What's the pros/cons, differences?
For deep squats the 4 inch would be tucked into you but the 2,5 not
@@ES-xq7iu care to elaborate?
Also it wasn't mentioned but you shouldn't be lifting the same weights without a belt as you did with a belt. There will be a considerable difference and you may injure yourself if you try to force it.
Being able to lift heavier weights without a belt is also a skill that needs to be trained through constant effort.
Thank u teaching us all these things in the shortest possible way. Today I went to the gym did 100kg deadlift 3 reps(80kg plates + 20kg bar) I used the belt and really it felt good . M so happy for my progress
Thanks for the information daddy
bro did you play the hulk??
It's like lifting straps to support the weaker muscles that hold u back from going heavier. It also means that ur not building the muscles ur supporting optimally. So u gotta choose between more weight for the muscles that can do it or lower weights for the muscles that need the progress

i use belts for somethings even when im not going extremely heavy. for example, standing shoulder presses. i use a belt to keep my back from arching and maintain my shoulders as the main target of the exercise.

Belts are not required but I would definitely recommend them for intermediate to advanced lifters (while deadlifting and squatting) . They can really help in injury prevention and overall performance.

I love getting infromation in such a fast paste format.
I have never worn a belt because personally it doesn’t help, my coach yelled at me for it so I showed him this video. He agreed that I didn’t need to wear one after this
You still train your core when using a belt though and also helps u lift better, so he's a little misinformed. Though with that said you brace differently when using a belt so that carry over can probably ruin whatever sport you playing
What it shouldn't be tight😨....
I've been using it wrong!!!!¡

I'll use my belt for bent over rows sometimes just to give me that extra bracing when going heavy. Being able to breathe Into the belt before you start the pull allows for your core to keep good form and avoid rounding of the back.
