So many books and so little time. The problem with looking at other peoples book tube channels is the tbr just gets bigger! Happy reading.

You My Dear are a Breath of Fresh Air….sharing your videos with other friends here in the States…..Happy Mother’s Day…..so agree with your remarks on “Atonement “….. must be read to really understand the fragility of what we think-we see and processing as we age….

I always enjoy your videos and am always making notes about ones I would like to read. Time and Again by Ben Elton sounds like I would enjoy it. Back in the '70's I read Time and Again by Jack. Finney. It was about time travel set in New York City and involves traveling to the time when the Statue of Liberty was gifted to us and lying in Central Park waiting to be assembled and placed. I kept loaning out my copy, and thus, sadly, lost it. Lesson learned: if you really love a book and want to share it, buy two copies.

Agreed - I've lost a few books through borrowing. That Jack Finney book sounds intriguing. I've been to New York, so I think I'd really enjoy that.

"Little brother" sounds so interesting, on my TBR now and very much on top. Thanks for the recommendation.

I read Atonement quite a while ago as well as Never Let Me Go and I have to agree they are both very surprising and cleverly written. A Pale View of Hills by Kazuo Ishiguro - one of my favourite British author - could also be included on this list.

Thanks for the recommendations. Ben Elton has been publishing novels consistently since the 80s. Your description of the plot reminds me of Stephen Fry's novel Making History which I enjoyed in the late 90s.

I’ve just finished reading your book ‘Isobel Brite’, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I felt completely invested in the characters and I loved Charles Dickens popping in and out!
It was a pleasure to read, thank you!📚🌿

Thanks for the recommendations! I love endings that ‘getcha’.
Recently I had a vocal reaction to the last line of “The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo“. Best last line to a book that I can remember anytime really🥹😃…..Such a fantastic book!
Again, thanks for the recommendations. I put three of them on my TBR! 😁

Absolutely love time travel books and alternative fiction. Thank you for covering a bit of the genre. I also much enjoyed your Out of Time.
P.s. Tilly is very sweet, though she acts a bit like my kids used to whenever I got on the phone...hmmm.

Wow great list. I've read all except Little Brother (never heard of that one but its on my list now). Particularly loved Time and Time Again, one of my favorite time travel books. Atonement I've read more than once. Just finished Bright Young Women and it was another I could not put down. I'm not a big thriller reader but I, Pilgrim and this latest Bright Young are two that really kept turning pages. Great reviews. Sincerely wish there were more I had not yet read.

I SOBBED at the end of Atonement. I reread the last pages 5 or 6 times in a row, so I could SOB some more. So good. I also read Never Let Me Go and I did not see that coming. I can't recall if I've read the Elton book, I know I've looked at it in the past. And I've never heard of Little Brother. I read a lot of science fiction and dystopian literature, but I've never read Doctorow. Maybe time to correct that...

So many great recommendations. I regret that, having seen the film adaptation of Atonement, I can’t experience the novel properly. Or do you disagree? Thanks for the video.

Actually, I quite like reading a novel after seeing the film. I find I get a lot more out of it - you do know how it ends of course - but it's worth it for the excellent writing.

The film version of Never Let Me Go was infinitely superior to the novel (in my humble opinion!)
