I'm in the Highlands of Scotland, beside loch Ness. its great that you put out your video tutorials, always clear and precise. always learn something new from them, so thank you very much for all your time, patience and help.
Hi Joyce, You are exactly the type of person that the OJA seeks to assist with it's videos. I'm sure that it is probably difficult for you to find a course or an instructor. The OJA seeks to fill that vacuum. I'm glad that you have been enjoying the videos and finding them helpful. Thank you for your support! : )
And so say all of me!! :-) I find these videos absolutely essential watching as they fill in so very many gaps that it is difficult for a tutor to fill in two and a half hours once a week.
Hi Hilary, This is one of my favorite tools because it's such a time saver. I use it most often to perfect the ends of lengths of wire cut to be rings. You can get one that offers 45, 60 & 90 degree angles. But shop around online to find the best deal. Also, be sure to inspect your jig when you get it. I recently bought one for the college where I work and it didn't completely close. Fortunately, the supplier was happy to replace it for me. Thanks for your support! : )
Hi John, i'm wondering if youcan please send me a link for the video on how to utilize the tools you have to set up something similar to a ball vise. If you don't have the link can you please tell me where I can locate the video on the OJA video playlists. Thank you for your time and dedication to teaching the online students!
Hi Renee, I believe that this is the link that you're interested in finding: ruclips.net/video/tWWOQqSimb0/видео.html You can find the complete OJA playlist divided into categories on our website at: www.onlinejewelryacademy.com I'm glad that you've been enjoying the videos. Thanks for your support! : )
Am I correct that I would not need to buy a tube cutting jig, because this one does that, plus all the other forms, like bezel strip, wire, and sheet? Thanks for the video about this great tool!
Working with this type of jig vs a tube cutting jig can be a little slower. But, you should be able to accomplish the majority of your tube cutting needs with this one tool. Thanks for your support! : )
Hi - thanks for the video! I am wondering is there a tool that will also help me with angles other than 45 and 90 degrees? The idea for the project I have would require other angles I think and might be a challenge but if I can have control over getting the angles right it would be awesome! Thanks!
Hi Jeannine, Here's a link for a similar tool that has a third angle (60): amzn.to/2UQZUx2. There are some fancy tube cutting jigs with multiple angles. I believe Rio Grande sells one. The only problem is that it's hard to accurately cut square wire in them if you don't want the angle to run from corner to corner. I've seen videos where people make their own jig out of acrylic sheet. Unfortunately, I don't have links to those videos. Also, making your own jig requires a variety of power tools. Good luck with your project. Stay creative at home. : )
Would the Pepe Tools 4” guillotine shears with “Miter table to cut 0°, 15°, 30°, 45° angle blanks consistently” work the same and in place of this tool?
No. The scale of the two tools is totally different. Plus, a shear isn't the best choice for cutting lengths of wire. The jig shown in the video is for small projects that utilize wire and sheet. 😀
Hi Harry, Glad you liked the video. I got that jig so long ago I don't remember the make and model. They are all basically the same. I suggest doing some comparative shopping online to find the best price. And, try to buy an American product. Thanks for your support! : )
The tool in the video is called a cutting jig. The most common type is a 90/45 degree cutting jig. But, there are some that will also cut a 60 degree angle. Thanks for your support! : )
I suggest that you expand your search online to vendors outside of Europe. There are many vendors who sell jewelry making tools on sites like E-bay. You might even find the jewelry book in Italian that you're looking for. Good luck. Thanks for your support! : )
