Nice work! Have you considered putting a small air line on your MIG welding gun? Small button back a bit with a metal nozzle to blow at the weld to cool it down. This way, you can cool it down without having to pick up another tool.

Yes, mostly my Dad, he was a pipe welder, also self taught on the car fab stuff!!!!
