This album is unbelievable. But this song stands out for me. The way it builds up in the beginning to this massive attack sound is insane. Every instrument used in this song is stunning, from the guitar riffs to the bass riffs and Daniels drumming. These songs can really paint a picture in your head and that's what music needs to be. This album/band needs more recognition.
Beauty trapped in a cage, angered, and trying to be left as it is, and not shaped by every fucking eye molding it, trying to get it in to shape. Finally breaking free in a scream. Goosebumps, every time, so far. Listen to it, stay with it. Beauty is NOT what most people expect
from the 8 minute mark to the 9 minute mark of this song is the culmination of every musical fantasy I ever had. Playing that part live on stage must be a damn orgasmic experience
This fucking song has more levels than candy crush. Dont even normally go for this style but they are absolutely incredible. Totally nail it in every song, riff, melody. + + + + + + + + + +
Epic sounding shit. I know people seem to hate this band for being "hipster" but i could'nt give a fuck as musically this is pretty damn exciting! i love early Darkthrone but get sick of all the modern copy cat type band, at least this is something differant and progressive.
Besides the magnificent music another thing i like very much about this album is the fact that it's totally anti-cliché. I mean: it is (Post) Black Metal but it has a pink cover! And it's is called Sunbather, while most BM bands 'sing' about the winter. When I first saw the album (when i didn't knew them yet) it was in the Metal section of the record store, but I thought somebody placed it on the wrong place. It is genius!
This is one of my favorite songs ever. There's nothing about it I don't love, but two things I really need to single out are Dan's drumming (holy fucking shit, his performance is absolutely unbelievable) and that melody at 13:07 (holy fucking shit, it's one of the most heartbreaking things I ever heard)
My favorite part of the whole album is that whole section. It starts around 10:25 and builds up to the part at 11:48 and then it's amazing all the way to the end.
I remember trying this album when it came out a few years back, and not managing to get past Dream House. I have no clue why, it took me this long to really bother with this band again, this song is a fucking gem.
Agreed, this is good, but shouldn't be called black metal. call it post, post rock, shoegaze, post metal, whatever, I don't care, I just don't think it is black metal.

IKR
It doesn't sound anything like massive attack.
@@papafsb444 He may not have meant the band but an intensity of music.
барыс 8х8 пизже имхо///🤪
This is prolly one of the best songs in history
You're not wrong
Agree. Masterpiece.
The drummer is the magician of this song.
I agree Toph but from 10:07 the dude was beyond human
A fucking men.
George is right - it's actually unbelievable how much Daniel's drumming influenced the shape of the songs, especially this one.
This album is getting better and better, I'm only 5 years late.
What about me only 10 years late
11:49 Damn...
Gets me everytime, real goosebumps & stuff...
I was about to comment this...but then I saw you already did so I'll just reply to it..yes 11:49- the end, is so beautiful.
What a sick album cover
The drum transition at 9:44 gets me every single time. Best moment on the album for me.
That moment sucks.
@@navigator_g I came back three years later to say fuck you
With the way the melodies and chord progressions uncontrollably weep, it convinces me that this song is pure grief condensed into sound.

this is one of the few songs that makes me cry
Lost in the patterns of youth where the windows shine brightly back at you.
If depression would have a melody, surely should be this 11:49
from the 8 minute mark to the 9 minute mark of this song is the culmination of every musical fantasy I ever had. Playing that part live on stage must be a damn orgasmic experience
bro i die at that part
Lost in the patterns of youth
Where the windows shine brightly
Lost in the patterns of youth
Where the windows shine brightly back at you
Best song on the album!
the fucking drumming on this is delicious
this song has not left my head in days
no one is using the word INNOVATIVE. this is what good art is about.
Favorite Sunbather track.
This is so damn beautiful, why has this escaped me for so long?
my absolute favourite piece of music
Какое же наслаждение слушать Deafheaven!!!
Dammit, I've been listening to this song so many times.. It's so beutiful, so thought provoking...
If death has a soundtrack, it is Deafheaven.
The section from 5:00 to 10:30 is deafheaven at their absolute best
If this isn't playing during the final 15 minutes of my life then I ain't dying
this is just like porn to my ears
best song i heard in a very long time.
My favorite track off the record. Probably my favorite track of the year.
I can die happy now
One of the best songs of the past decade
This fucking song has more levels than candy crush. Dont even normally go for this style but they are absolutely incredible. Totally nail it in every song, riff, melody. + + + + + + + + + +
I'm in love with that drums! #omfg

11:49-the end.... damn. Lost in the patterns of youth.
8:05 best riff ever.
agreed
Johannes facts
It's the best transition ever
It sounds like coming back from the dead to get revenge

For me the best metal track ever written
I loved 'Roads to Judah' and this album definitely didn't disappoint.
10:28 and onwards is just beautiful
beautiful ... speechless ...
... epic masterpiece ...
My mate Karl played this song when I was on a solid hit of acid (first time ever) by the Baltic sea back in 2018. Good times.
05:46 every trve kvlt black metal band wishes they made such riff....
This is one of my favorite songs ever. I've been waiting for a record like this... for a very long time. Absolutely brilliant.
My favorite part of the whole album is that whole section. It starts around 10:25 and builds up to the part at 11:48 and then it's amazing all the way to the end.
blackgaze
8:00 ♥♥♥ EARGASM.
3:28 the sound of an agonizing soul
5:02 and there is fulfillment! My fav song of them!!!
🎶This is absolutely Amazing!!👏🏻 🖤🤘🏻
yes, but 11:48 gets me every time. those chills. favorite moment on the entire album.
I love not being disappointed by an album I was super amped to hear.
Absolute dreaming deahly noisy sweet music cross my mind pure art
Bravo!!!! What a masterpiece!
i dont know why but i see war in reverse when i heard this
i'm not really into black metal but.. damn.
same here...my weird english teacher showed us this today and I really like this band
Well, although it has some elements that resembles it, this is not really Black Metal, so you're safe!
god I hate genre wankery. blast beats+shrieks+distortion equals black metal to me, and it doesn't need to be any more complicated than that.
If you're saying that " blast beats+shrieks+distortion equals black metal" you're falling into the same wankery ;)
not really. I'm emphasising some basic elements that I associate with the style.
Fucking crushing those drums. Definitely the fucking driving force of the song. 9:44 that fucking double bass pedal gets me EVERYTIME.
It has that wow-effect when you listen to it, for me at least. Amazing. Thanks for sharing.
I think we all know what it would sound like if Explosions in the Sky went metal.
Doug Brady If Explosions in the Sky had a baby with black metal outfit, Emperor and that kid listened to My Bloody Valentine and Converge.
explosions in the sky are very overrated tbh
One of the best
I remember trying this album when it came out a few years back, and not managing to get past Dream House. I have no clue why, it took me this long to really bother with this band again, this song is a fucking gem.
this is the most progressive arthouse gangster rap ever
holy shiiiitttttt yes yes yes
13:10
La manera en la que se le desgarra la voz a George es hermosa.
such a wonderful tune!
Neige brought me here. Good stuff, surprised that I've never heard of them before.
i love em both!
4:30 stunning. amazing album.
Very excellent!
wow!! man!! this is sick!
I usually hate black metal but... God damn, this album tears you apart without remorse
+WeAreTheInsurgents this is shoegaze dude.
CyrusVan Beethoven You alright dude?
I guess, maybe I was too raw about it, I just get annoyed at nitpicking what each genre is. Sorry for being an ass, and thanks for asking.
Agreed, this is good, but shouldn't be called black metal. call it post, post rock, shoegaze, post metal, whatever, I don't care, I just don't think it is black metal.
***** I mean more in an emotional sense rather than a violent sense
I'm pretty new to DFHVN. I didn't took much attention before, but Sunbather truly hooked me. You can't be wrong we Deathwish, right?
Amazing
Thank you, I'll be here all week.

Don't try to categorize it. Seriously. You either like it or you don't.
4:30 my best part

This is some next level shit right here
i up voted everyone here too.
Ah ah ! I was looking for the Hard-Rock band Machine Vertigo ! Quite good though !
That part in 3:29
Can anyone tell me what the guitar effect is at 3:29 is? Thanks.
fucking hell!! this is the best pruduction from them.
RIP Asap Yams!
*666* likes and *9* dislikes ? 👿 I don't want to mess that up I'll make Satan's children upset with me..
Saw them last monday, fucking awesome
Beach House + Black Metal \m/

I think I just came at 8:05 lol
8:05 holy fuck
anyone knows what the lyrcis are at 10:49?
Wheeeeee
listen it, and just do.
up or down.
ahhhhhhhhh
am i the only one that thinks they are the PINK FLOYD of Black Metal?
more like the Abba of post-industrial vegetation death metal
+John Appleseed lmaooo
post psychedelic potato dubstep
Yes, you are the only one who thinks this. I refuse to believe that anyone else would make such an asinine and misplaced claim.
shruhats lighten up, Francis
10:28
❤
Epic! some kind of desolation here, es necesario despojarse de ciertos conceptos para apreciar este solido track.
