Kyles famous last words. "Oh no a black hole! That's Baaaaaad!"
I died as I lived: Yelling about black holes. -- KH
Nerdist Epic winning 😂
The most frustrating thing about Flash, Superman and other ultra powerful DC superheros is that they establish extraordinary feats they can accomplish with their powers then later (sometimes in the same issue) a bad guy sticks out his arm and Flash clotheslines himself or a relatively low power meta punches Superman and he gets knocked flying and he is shown to feel both pain and effects from that punch.
The power scales are so consistently inconsistent either we have to assume the writers are hacks because they can't write an internally consistent story or they are hacks because they don't understand science or scale and just make it up as they go along, i.e. "Geordi, whip up some technobabble about the polarity/frequency of tachyons and deus ex machina our way out of this weeks mess!"
Flash has villains designed to kill spreaders literally they picked there powers and weapons just to fight him . Superman is normally weakened by something kryptonite red sunlight his confidence or morals one time there was a eclipse.
The Flash is so fast he made the kessel run in less than 12 parsecs. because science
Kutlu Mızrak pretty sure that was the joke lol
Kutlu Mızrak You've watched the original Star Wars trilogy, right?
The Flash is so fast in Crisis on Infinite Earth he didn't die. He broke the dimensional barrier and became the Marvel character FastForward
pretty sure he knows that and is quoting Family Guy
lol
Here's a theory, I know you have been doing a large amount of flash videos, but here is another.
What is the Flash's suit (and kid flash, and zoom, and reverse flash, and rival) made from. It is stated that it is frictionless, heatproof, and other things.
It would be awesome if you could try to find a real life equal to this material.
THX
If there WAS a frictionless material that doesn't need energy to function, we could produce so much electrical power that no one on earth would ever again have experience hunger, poverty, or work till the end of eternity.
So... don't wait for that.
Wally West's Flash suit is made of pure speed force energy, he could do things like put a cyanide capsule in his suit and keep it air tight
Im thinking something more along the lines of a close real life alternative, so nothing truly frictionless, and not pure energy(Haven't read comics, just seen the show)
.
in the comics it states that it's made of speed force energy
Because Science is my favorite nerdist show. keep it up I haven't found one I disliked yet
Thank you so much! -- KH
You said that Wally West using the "Infinite Mass punch" but you say that Barry was a smart dude? Why?
Fernando Felipe, same, I like the others, but this one is the best
Alok Yadav The name of the show is "Because Science" reread what I wrote. Starting a sentence with "because" is blasphemy.
Alok Yadav np buddy
The next Flash topic should be on how the Flash can travel faster than teleportation across the entire universe in The Human Race.
GuyWithAnAmazingHat that is accurate in the comics and very cool. But impossible according to our understanding of science. The speed of light is the max speed for everything. Including information. Assuming that teleportation works by sending your genetic code to a location at the fastest speed possible. The flash would at best tie with it. Also teleportation wouldn't be instantaneous due to its speed limit, it would take 8 minutes to teleport to the sun. It would also take 4 hours and 29 minutes to travel across the solar system end to end. I know it depressing but you know why? BECAUSE SCIENCE
Gilbert Ortega the speed force is like a fundamental force of the dc universe and seems to go off of something similar to quantum mechanics, imparting on those who make use of it similar properties. Therefore the flash, or any sufficiently skilled speedster, is able to bend and break the laws of reality as we know them.
TheMemester439 yeah because the speed force is a force that bends the laws of physics the flash could beat teleportation. But teleportation in dc comics doesn't utilize the speed force, to my knowledge. So teleportation would still work as i described it and would take 4 hours a 29 minutes to go threw the solar system. So the flash would beat it in a land slide. Unless they teleport using wormholes. Then that brings up a bunch of other problems.
Watch the imaginaryaxis video about it
@@ghostface0927 *Dude flash is faster than the speed of light in the human race everyone gave speed to him and he reached almost trans time velocity or just simply leaving space time countinum meaning that flash passes the entire solar system in very low nanoseconds or even lower*
I understand everything Kyle says....even the long math parts.
Feeling like a genius
#Killin'It -- KH
Lol
there is no long math parts lol
@@Nerdistyour math is wrong though but it's ok I'll add on you left a couple functions of speed out when any object with mass is going as fast as turning back time or even light speed it contracts energy including plasma which is a black hole and actually is what black holes are made of as for the hole in space I think he can have a focal point and the energy doesn't displace because he's putting the mass towards another being that could tank it
Kyle is freaking awesome! 😵
Thanks Benny! -- KH
Benny Wallace right
!!!!!
+Nerdist Who is your favorite super hero
Dear Kyle, is it possible that Zoom from the flash TV show on the CW is blue shifting to give himself his blue lightning?
1:58 calls Wally West "Barry"
Keep your damn Flashes straight...
There is 4 main Flash's tops so far
There is
Jay Garrick: Original Flash from the Golden Age of comics
Barry Allen: Most popular and well know Flash: Main Stream comic: He got his power in a lightning storm accident.
Wally west: Barry Allen's love interest, Iris Wests nephew who wanted to be like the flash so he replicated Barry's accident which gave him his powers. Also know as Kid Flash. When Barry Allen died Wally west took up the name 'The Flash'
Bart Allen: He is Barry's Grandson from the future He was named 'Impulse' but then took the name 'Kid Flash' and then later on took the name 'The Flash'
They are all connected by the speed force. Also there is this other guy called wally west who is black and is also Iris West's Niece and he is currently 'Kid Flash'
Hope this helped i'm a huge Flash fan!
This is for them comic book scrubs who dont know shit

100 episodes and 0 haircuts later
Happy 100th episode, Kyle! I love the show's fusion of fantastic fiction and scientific breakdowns (it's inspired me to do more research for designing action figures), keep up the great work!
man! super smart, edits in a great and fun to watch way, can explain very complicated shit in a very simple and understandable way, and on top of all of that loves anime, games, and comics! freaking incredible! how did i not find you until now?
you're amazing! keep on going!
Now I'm wondering if the Flash could punch Superman hard enough to turn him into a pile of goo?
Oh believe me The Flash is BY FAR the most overpowered hero. He can punch a billion times a second he can slow time down from his perspective to an attosecond bearing in mind that the slowest time ever recorded is 7.8 attoseconds and He can travel back in time and just kill him as a kid if he felt like it. he also can think at the speed of light. BAsically flash can just freeze everyone in time if he wanted to.
Skipz Neo He perceives the planck time, not just an attosecond.
Fantasy Connect Meh sorry close enough I guess im not as caught up as i thought
Skipz Neo Did I infer that I was mad at your statement of the flashes perception? If so I'm terribly sorry, I meant it as a "he's more OP than you think" statement, my bad.
Fantasy Connect Yes I understood what you were saying I just had an idea that could work with an equation im working on in a theory Thank you very much good sir!
can you do a video on the helicarriers?
He mentioned at the end of another video that ... The Shield Helicarriers would need its Propellers to each be as big as the entire Helicarrier, for it to work as shown in the movies. Hell, just look at the Wingspan of a normal Helicopter.
helicopters don't have wings.
No the rotors aren't wings.
Rotary wings.
In aeronautical engineering there are two type of aircraft we deal with. Fixed winged aircraft (planes), and rotary winged aircraft (helicopters). Helicopter blades are wings.
Well done Kyle. And congratulations for the 100th ep. May another 100 go on.. I hope. If you want to reach that milestone.
Legend says that if you get here early enough Kyle Hill will respond to your response! In all seriousness I love the channel man. I'm a huge fan.
THE LEGEND IS TRUE. Thanks so much for watching and for the kind words Michael. -- KH

I wish that something like this had been around when I was younger. Maybe I would have majored in Physics. Excellent job (again!).
That is the highest praise I can get, thank you Mike! -- KH
Actually in catching Lois, or any super hero catch, they do a maneuver similar to what's called a "Stall" in Hackey Sack. You match the velocity of the sack (speed and direction) and then carry it and change it.
As for the possibility of Whiplash and Vertigo? Well Just look at Star Trek or Star Gate Atlantis, they have Inertial Dampeners, which is why when they come out of Warp Speed, everyone standing doesn't go splat on the relative forward of their position surfaces.
For Superman his own gravity and flight ability is that Dampener. In hackey sack you can confirm this dampening by the soft sound you hear of the sack when you complete a succesfull stall versus the much louder sound of just kicking it back.
Love your videos man, goodjob as always
OH MY GAWD THIS IS AWESOME I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!!
I've always found the science of the Flash interesting. It'd be interesting to see you break down all the old "Flash Facts" from the comics.

P.S. Relativity Rocks!
TL;DR: The Flash's fist having the mass of a white dwarf would actually create a black hole :D
Fun fact, even his fist having the mass of a white dwarf is...weird, because it would create a black hole ^^. The Schwarzschildt radius of even the smallest white dwarfs we know of (and that we think are stable) are bigger than a kilometer. White dwarfs have masses ~0.5 - 0.7 times the mass of the sun, and with the Schwarzschild radius of the sun being ~ 3km, a white dwarf's Schwarzschild radius (and the Schwarzschild radius being linearly proportionate to the mass of the object) is at least 1.5km.
And a black hole that massive being that close to Earth would just swallow it instantly. Fun :D
Totally right! -- KH
No. Try harder.
No having the mass of a white dwarf wouldn't create a black hole. Having infinite mass would create a black hole which is why he doesn't do it. He only goes as far as a white dwarf.
@@DRAWDAILYchannel Actually, yes. But sure, go on. Tell me why I'm wrong.
@@javiervalenzuela8284 It's not JUST about the mass, as I pointed out explicitly. It's about having that mass concentrated in a volume as small as his fist.
Black holes don't have infinite mass, they just have mass in a volume of space that is just as small or smaller than the sphere of Schwarzschildt black hole of equivalent mass (roughly speaking... It's not really sphere like anymore when we're talking about rotating black holes, but that's a needless complication)
Anybody have any thoughts about how the Iron Giant's metabolism/digestive system would work?
Does he shred and burn the metal into iron oxide? If so, does he excrete large piles of powdered rust? For a movie that doesn't shy away from poop jokes, (landslide!) you'd think they'd address this.
Does it undergo nuclear fission or fusion? But what about the fact that both processes absorb energy, rather than create it, due to the unique properties of Iron's Nuclear Binding Energy? If nothing else, this could be interesting to talk about.
Kyle, help! I hope that I've piqued your interest. And who doesn't love the Iron Giant?
Fellow viewers! Maybe give me some thumbs up if you want an Iron Giant episode?
I've waited so long for a video about this!
YES!!! loving it when you do your flash vids

XProject13 wally used the I.M.P.(act) lol as a culmination of the flash facts barry used to teach him wheb wally was a kid
XProject13 ...Different timelines due to a Flashpoint happening halfway through the video?
pixel girl haha i like the way you think
Wally is the person doing it in JLA 3, Barry thought of [invented] it.
Wait I thought Barry Allen was the flash not Wally west? This confuses me
1st video I’ve ever watched of yours….will be subscribing STRICTLY because of the acronym @@ the end, bravo my friend bravo 👏👏👏👏👏
I’m a big fan of yours and I really love the time and research you put into your videos :) I have a theory that you might be interested in: The Flash’s healing factor is a thing because his body works more quickly, meaning his cells divide faster, meaning he heals more quickly. My theory is that because of his increased rate of cell division, it’s exponentially more likely that he’ll develop cancer. It’s just kind of a shower thought but I would love to see what you guys do with it :) thanks - Nik
Question, if a speedster such as the Flash were to carry you along with him, as he is shown doing on many occasions such as when he pulls people out of a burning building, what effects would that have on normal human anatomy and is there a way for him to do it without killing/severely injuring the person he's carrying?
Normally, it would definitely kill people. But in the comics, it's explained that Speed Force actually somehow cover Flash and anyone in his close proximity while he's runnin'. So, how those people stay alive? Magic. Speed Force Magic :)
WithoutWittyUsername lol, if course that's how it works... because magic.
Pretty sure he might carry a flame running out a burning building, too. But what do I know?
I'm not sure about that, however, in the cw show, it has been shown that people can become sick, and one time, a bouquet of flowers burned up. so there's that.
Derek Barnett speed force aura protects them
one hundred episode should have been titled THE PHYSICS OF HAIR GROWTH!! because science
I've always like the term "Arbitrary Mass Punch", as the first time I heard about it, it was described as "being able to punch with arbitrary force", which I think is a pretty accurate description. He can put as much Force(=Ma) into his attacks as he wants at the time.
Really enjoy your channel mate
What about the gravitational pull of the mass of a white dwarf? How would that change the equation?
wait what? no post-post video about Kyle's thoughts? D: I'm sad
Wait...think it may have been cut...damnit. I'll check. -- KH
Nerdist I'll be waiting here :c
I heard that the "new" annotations can't be 20sec away from the end of the video. So hypothesis: they cut the part out to have the annotations available.
I know, right. I was actually shocked.
Nerdist not going to lie, I always watch for the main content but the post credit thoughts are among the most entertaining. especially when it's a pseudo rant.

did anyone realize at 2:03 he said Barry instead of wally lmao😂
yeah , that's what Wally says in the panels he's referencing too bro
maybe you should read the comic
O@OO!!OOO!O!O!OOO! rektd nice i didnt notice thanks man for clearing it up
could you make an episode about lucifer and the limits of his power?
lucifer as in Satan? infinite power
who cares? according to DC, flash can beat him... in fact, he can beat anyone in all the multiverse but
unaccountably the universes still need someone like batman or superman to save the day...
+esteban jimenez the flash can beat anyone bellow omnipotent levels. So no, he can't beat Lucifer. Lucifer and Michael are arguably tied as the second strongest beings in the DCU seeing as how they're multiversal and they can warp the multiverse in any way they wish to. Flash can't compete with that.
Manuel Salazar it was sarcasm.. i meant DC always creates almost omnipotent characters and the only way to "try" to stopped is creating another omnipotent character
esteban jimenez sarcasm is so difficult to convey via text without literally finishing your statement by saying that it was intended sarcasm.
Happy 100th episode Kyle!!!!
1:28 It's also correct, as when something moves faster than light, it produces a bluish -green glow (I forgot what it's actually called). We actually know that because it's actually possible to slow down light by shining it through certain substances. When an object went faster than the slowed down light, it produced that glow.
How strong is ruby from the show RWBY?
Because she has to hold, swing, and absorb the recoil that is strong enough to shoot her up into the air of her gun-Scythe.
Technically it's not her. It's her aura and semblance lending that power.
Technically it's not the Flash it's the speed force.
Touche
Right, so if his body is moving at 99.999999 whatever % the speed of light, and his fist then accelerates forward, wouldn't his fist be moving faster than the speed of light?
Nope! Physics is weird. I recommend Veritasium videos on the subject. -- KH
Dullahan you can't reach light speed, the .9's only increase as you accelerate
Dullahan no. First of all, the speed of a punch is so negligible compared to the speed of light that it wouldn't push him over the limit, despite being so close to light speed.
Second, relativity would take effect. If you shine a laser pointer in a moving train, the photons don't go the speed of light + the speed of the train, they just go the speed of light. It's pretty weird, but some wonky stuff happens at near light speed.
Thanks
C.Griffin ithink the true formula for relative speed
For you running on an already moving ,for eg,
Is (v1+v2)/(1+((v1*v2)/c^2))
So you see if you are on a train moving at light speed
You running wont push above speed of light
This show is the only show I watch on Nerdist and the sole reason I subscribed. Kyle and Dan are the only people at the studio worth anything and they are seriously under-utilized.

cograts for this vídeo
kyle, could u do a vídeo that explains how pyroquinesis works?
how does the 3dm gear from attack on titan not brake every ones back
Comic King anime is tough cause they rarely use numbers to support their feats not to mention the abuse of numbers in a feat. remember, any thing moving at FTL with more mass than a photon should create a singularity.
Anything moving at FTL is impossible. Travelling at FTL is somewhat more plausible.
saitamas punch is just stronger then dis
There is nothing stronger than infinite.
Dave Jasper Lynn Saitama is a parody of Dragon Ball in powerscale.
It looks cool but i can't take seriously (by that i mean investment in his character) a guy with such low stakes in his persona, at least DB was decent until recently...
Well yeah you are kind of right. As Saitamas ability comes solely from the writer and therefore can exceed infinity. BUT, Kyle failed to bring up in this video that Wally, being the fastest Flash, has actually traveled WAY faster than light speed (He once rescued half a million people, carrying them two or three at a time to about 5km from the explosion, he did this in less than a second, which some smart guy worked out to be about 14 trillion times the speed of light, which of course isn't possible. and far surpasses ANYTHING Superman has ever done, making the Flash more so a God than a superhero) so theoretically The Flash might be the only character ever to be able to really go toe to toe with Saitama, simply because they both have the same power, infinity possibility via the writers pen.
Jack Based on scaling, Saitama isn’t anywhere near Goku, Superman or The Flash (at their best).
@@darthesgoobis123
That rescue you mentioned, Flash was going 4,222 lightyears per second.
But according to the infinite mass punch scaling to a white dwarf, then yes Saitama has countered it before.
Lmao this video made me laugh. The ending was A+ stuff hah!
Hey Kyle! I love every flash related things you do! Really makes me feel smart even though i dont know what your talking about Hahaha.
But if such large mass was compressed in such a small area of the hand wont it be dense enough to create a black hole in the place of his hand?
Relativistic mass isn't actual mass, it's super messy. In the reference frame of his fist, his fist still only has the mass of an ordinary fist.
Basically it still only has the mass of a regular fist, but it ACTS like the mass of a white dwarf star for punching purposes.
Does this relativistic mass still apply equal force to the Flash's fist when he hits? If so, how does he endure it? I just couldn't help but wonder this, in addition to the question of gravitational force that was basically answered for me above.
+Bolvar4dragon yesss u are right even if this punch puts out such force isnt it true that flash should experience the same force on him because in newtons 3rd law of motion every action has an equal and opposite reaction....
+Bolvar4dragon, +Nerdist you have to answer this.... Either you do the episode with keeping in mind all the factors and consequences or you need to answer each and every question of us
Does anyone know how old Kyle is? or how long he has been growing his hair? #goals
27 / 3 years -- KH
I noticed something off, and maybe it was just the script itself. You first pointed out that his his was equivalent to the mass of a white dwarf star, and thus calculated the speed needed to get the mass of a fist to that relativistic mass. Ok, cool. Later, it looked like you had the white dwarf mass (as opposed to a fist) multiplied by that same speed again, thus making it even more powerful than it actually was. Not that the end conclusion of "it's universe shattering" wouldn't still hold regardless, but I just wanted to ask and be sure. I love the show, please keep it going!
I love this...sharing this in the Flash Facts Facebook group!
Which, pretty much just goes to prove what I've always suspected - comic writers really don't know JACK about science or physics!
Well The Flash writers do know a fair amount, they just bend the rules! -- KH
Oh, they know. Problem is that if these guys REALLY tried, it'd result in black holes spontaneously appearing everywhere. That or nuclear explosions.
The most important power for superheroes, aside from being able to have the energy to even muster their abilities, is the ability to control the effects of those powers. It's a kind of specialized reality warping designed to preserve reality from the effects of their actions.
There's another important ability to be considered as well, one that's not often mentioned; the ability to not be harmed, or even _killed_, by the effects of one's own powers. For example, the Human Torch isn't cremated when he flames on, but Daisy/Quake is shattering the bones in her own forearms when she uses her powers. (At least the TV version of her is, don't know about the comics version.)
Even Wolverine's claws, whether coated in adamantium or not, do damage to his hands when he pops them, it's just that his healing factor heals it instantly.
The Speed Force reduces all friction he may generate to himself or his surrounding area to 0.
Abbadon the Destroyer than if it's zero how do he generate force to run? friction make you run and how does he grab or touch anything if friction is zero? he should pass through everything with zero friction..... he becomes a ghost. damn even light has a tiny bit of mass and creates friction when in contact with other matter

Man you always take the ones with some kinda (relatively) easy math to do huh?
Was that a relativity pun?
Am I the only one who doesn't really like The Flash series?
Nope
TheN0odles nope
Yup
TheN0odles not watched one episode yet better watch one punch man
Pretty much
I really love your hair :3 looks awesome dude.
I just love these "Because Science" Videos. The Main reason I Subscribed I think. Though if I may ask a question. You have a video on the Titans, and on one of your vids talk about Werewolves and the full moon and I know you like DBZ, so... Anyone know where I am going with this? Would it be possible for an Uzaru or "Great Ape" transformation to exist? If so how powerful could it really be?
I got a question that could use some sciencing. How plausible are rad firing guns like those in Fallout? Can you even direct radiation like that? How much radiation/energy would it take to hurt someone with one of those? Wouldn't the shooter also suffer adverse effects from the rads?
thanks for being my primary food for thought show!
Kyle is the best part of Nerdist.
"Who cares right...?
I do!"
Best moment!! 😂😂
I had to pause this video at 0:20 seconds...Because I was trying to do that wave you did with your eyebrows...Damnit! I can't do it! You're a freak of nature and I love it :)
The FLash is so fast that Wally changed into Barry at 1:58.
Have to admit at first I thought Because Science was a load of BS but it's probably the most science I will ever learn.
Thanks Kyle. This show is awesome.
Hey Kyle, love the channel ! Every scfi fan has heard of "inertial dampers" how 'bout taking that one on. I'd love hear how' you would cancel or dampen inertia ?? That'd come in real handy.
His face on that last question! XD
At 4:14 it's he best yell I ever heard
I don't know what is better, your beauty or your inteligence.
i have no idea what you say in any of your episodes, i just watch them cause it sounds cool
his hair is amazing can we pls appreciate how good it looks 🙌🙌
"THAT'S BAAAAADDD"... I love you Kyle
I saw your time chamber video and it was great so, can you make a video based on how super saiyan effects your body since you get 50 times stronger.
another correction. when flash punched zoom, zoom was moving in the opposite direction to the punch with a relatively close enough speed to flash thus the kinetic energy of both cancelled each other's but since flash was faster thus his momentum was transferred into zoom causing him to fly off to wherever
Can you explain the science behind iron mans repulsor technology. I know there's ion thruster's that exists today but how much energy would it need, inorder to perform like the repulsors
When I get bored I just watch a bunch of these and feel super smart 😂
I just realized that red and blue shifting are analogous to the Doppler effect in sound! And I just looked it up and learned that the Doppler effect is a phrase used to address all of such wave phenomena.
Would you ever do a brief video on the direct discovery of gravitational waves, and what they mean for Einstein's general relativity theory?
Addressing the end card question about Lois... I think superman could catch her fine. I've seen people catch eggs from the air, and depending on how you turn your hands or something (I can't do it. I've just seen it done) it's possible to catch something fragile and not break it
I think what they mean by I.M.P is it can be as heavy as it needs with his knowledge of that equation he can get the speed he needs for the mass he needs
I hate you right now. I need to sleep but i'm here watching old episodes. Why must you be so entertaining?!
No finally rant? I love those! lol
Ugh why do I love science so much?!!!
