Spud is this adorable shy little Pegasus/Draconequus hybrid, special because her front legs end in paws instead of hooves. But give her the Spuddite she needs to Mega Evolve and she suddenly gains an incredible Speed Boost!

It's really just a matter of looking at the tools you have to figuring out how you can use those to your advantage.
I didn't have a tablet for a long time but I still wanted nice-looking art. Right here I'm using the pen tool in Photoshop that allows for a lot of control over what shapes it makes and a soft brush for the gradients and slight shadows to separate pieces. And then just playing with layer filters to see what happens.
After that I just had to think of it in layers, kind of like if you were to make this picture with paper shapes instead.
After you know what you do, just practice. Everyone says it but practice does make perfect. Try it out, figure out what's not working, and do it different in the next one. It's easy to get discouraged when things don't go the way you want them to immediately, but nothing happens immediately.
I mean my first pics weren't that good considering what I wanted when working with this kind of style. And they've changed a lot over time.

FuyusFox You're not the only one who doesn't use a tablet, I don't use my tablet (Not compatible with my PC operating system) so I use a mouse, my art isn't the best but it isn't as bad as it was almost 3 years ago 😂

Have you ever tried Illustrator?
A little, but nothing too in depth.
+FuyusFox Your art style, using shapes to build the pony, would really work in Illustrator, since that's how the program supposed to be used. You could use the Gradient Mesh tool for your shading, but it's kind of an advanced tool, I've been using Illustrator since 2014 and I've only played around with it xD but Illustrator is great because you can resize stuff without losing any quality
I know about that feature, and I'd love to learn to use the tools in the program.

There are tutorials online. Pathfinder is really useful, and it's pretty self explanatory once you play around for a bit with shapes. If you want, I could show you some stuff I've done in class.
