  • A new fine goes into effect on May 10 for drivers with "Carolina squat" truck suspension modifications.
Squatted vehicles refer to the modifications made to trucks and SUVs to make the front sit higher than the back.
The "Carolina Squat" law was passed in November, but it included a six-month grace period for drivers to get into comply with the new law before facing fines.
Law officials say squatted vehicles are dangerous and a law banning these modifications is a way to ensure everyone is safe on the roadway.
“When the front of the vehicle is lifted so much that the lights are not on the road in front of them or they can’t see the distance, pedestrians, or animals in front of them, it causes an issue of safety,” Michael Chavis, Lieutenant and PIO with the Rock Hill Police Department, told WCNC Charlotte. #Traffic #Trucks
