I cannot express how greatful we are for channels like this. Such vast knowledge for free AND giving us the reliable tools and resources to learn more. Awesome!
A great discussion, RENSEP is one of the most worthwhile projects dedicated to contemporary occulture, very much in the same spirit as ESOTERICA. Onwards!
Just wanted to share that this channel is sincerely one of my favourites. You are so adept at explaining things. I've only begun to dig into these concepts and ideas within the last year. This channel is my favourite to listen to to when I'm at home. I'll watch the same uploads SO many times. A treasure trove of knowledge. Thank you so much for you effort. Im very grateful.
As a practitioner I think this interview encourages me too submit experience writeups I've done to RENSEP, given that they are trying to break down the exact barriers to entry that kept me from pursuing post collegiate anthropological studies of magic and esoteric practices! This is exactly the kind of work we need to destigmatize real world experience in academia and help to bring scholarship out of the ivory-tower of physicalist materialism! May the gods bless their work! 🙏
Very interesting. You all are doing very important things here 🙏🏽 🙇🏽♂️ You're giving practitioners room to do and say much more in society. There are many things that I would never have said or may be done if not for the permission this channel gives me.
@@orfeotracio Yes, it's literally the Occult Sciences and there is so much misinformation on history and religious Archeology in the Occult and Mysticism communities. All the greats we remember were literally the scholars of their time
I adore your work. The history and philosophy are fascinating. Not a big fan of most practitioners, I find them kind of dull. Oh well, I guess we all have our biases.
Off topic: will you work on a analysis, even if a brief one, on the occult elements in Eggers' Nosferatu? I know you did make a video about the occult in vampire mythology, which included Nosferatu, but I mean something like an analysis and explanation of the esoteric concepts and elements exposed in Eggers' work.
@@TheEsotericaChannel please do keep us posted. To be honest (and sorry if it comes across as rude, I don't mean it that way), I came to your channel, after many days absent (too busy to spend time on esoterism), completely anxious that you might have already done something about.
What kind of divine light is shining upon me right now? I have been thinking about doing my master's thesis in media and technology with something to do with the occult!
Robert Bartlett please. He has 50 years of lab notes doing alchemy and working in chemistry and having access to million dollar research equipment that he wants peer reviewed. Get him before he kicks the bucket.
I'd say I'm both a practitioner and a scholar I do not have a degree so I am not a scholar in a traditional sense though I believe the information is important nonetheless. I enjoy others perspectives of existence...
One of the first things I see in the RENSEP website is an article about magicians outperforming meditators in a quantum experiment. The article in question has no abstract and is locked behind a paid subscription, and to my knowledge not indexed in any database. I doubt it has been peer reviewed due to the highly suspicious character of the title. This got me very skeptical of this organization as a potential gap bridging initiative between misticism and academia as this system in my oppinion has a tendency to create biased research and ,at worst, non peer reviewed pseudoscience. This might do more harm than good to occultism research as a field.
Hi folks! I am Bernd-Christian Otto from the video and would like to respond to your remarks. RENSEP currently has a membership model, which may change once we've received more funding (we are a charity, after all). That's why most of our content is currently behind a "paywall" and only accessible once you've become a member - sorry about that. The article you are referring to is a blog post created by Dean Radin where he describes some preliminary results of the experimental study of sigil magick that we discussed briefly during the video. Our blog posts do not have abstracts, and they don't undergo double blind anonymous peer-reviewing, but are discussed internally by the RENSEP team and then edited, if approved for publication. The content of that blog is an easily digestable summary (upon our own request) of a research article that Dean Radin has in the meantime submitted to the peer-reviewed journal Physics Essays (physicsessays.org/); it has also recently been accepted and will be published soon. You can find the preprint here: osf.io/preprints/psyarxiv/t3jxk. This 38-page article contains a detailed description of the research protocol and of the analysis of the data with a discussion on the pre-registered hypothesis for the study. Needless to say, everyone can form their own opinion of that research, and I myself remain a bit sceptical concerning Dean's opposition of "meditators" versus "magicians", but that's a longer story. Yet we at RENSEP are proud to pave the way, with our very limited possibilities, towards an experimental study of magic. Best wishes, Bernd

Thank you for this interview with RENSEP. They are doing important work. This is a fascinating time for practitioners and scholars alike.

I thank the universe that there are channels like this
Thank you Bernard and Andrea.
As a practitioner of magick I’ve always dreamed of the world of study and academia and the occult practitioners
Blending together?
(Hello fellow practitioner 🙋♀️)
no thanks
Oh practitioners! We should unite

So much misinformation in the spiritual community. This is what needs to happen
I’m looking forward to watching this-I have been thinking about that for a long time.
This video was needed
Hello, my name is Monika, I enjoy a lot watching your channel😊
Very good to know they exist! :)
I had a a look at their website, and it appears there's a lot there that would be worthwhile.
I love these interview videos!!
Oh, Ronald Hutton is in an editorial board of their journal, interesting.
I haven't heard of him. What's his reputation?
@ amazing, he's a well-known and respected scholar
@@86fifty check out the channel for Gresham College. It has many videos of Ronald Hutton lectures
There could be so many patterns to look for and test for statistical significance.
This is very exciting.

This is excellent. Call me a windmill, cuz I’m a big fan.

Planning to do something of a stream about that on Atun-Shei's channel

Tbh, I kinda feel the same
Why platform then and get a kickback off them then?

To be clear, I'm fine with a subscription platform. My skepticism is with the experiment.
Brave project to engage in, I would expect reactions of scholars and practitioners to be a shitshow to be quite honest.
Aaaaah, three beardy dudes, the world is in order :)
I thought you were gonna ask them to scry stuff for you and find answers in the bones.
The science of magic... Within limits i agree and support it but the "defense" is important
Shucks, I hit the like button and moved it to 665 likes. Oh well, close! 😈
Completely random but yall should listen to "Together" by Nordic Giants
