Growing up in the 80’s this ride was the BEST! I remember riding it with parents, such great memories! I’m in my 40’s now, and my dad is gone, but I can still hear him say “hang on!”
As I'm currently writing this I went there two weeks ago and let me just say that this ride was very memorable and a fun short ride to take a break from bigger rides.
Fist coaster I ever rode as a kid. It's still got it where it counts. Kids don't understand not every coaster has to go 1,000 MPH. Ron Toomer who designed it (RIP) also designed. Hold on tight. Magnum XL-200. The coaster that opened the doors for your tallest, fastest, wildest coasters. Affectionately known as the first shot fired in the coaster wars. He also designed Gemini, Corkscrew, Iron Dragon. There's an ACE plaque by Gemini honoring his accomplishement at a lot of parks after his passing. P.S. you can see Millennium Force's funicular maintenance cart on its lift hill.
I remember riding this as a warm-up, and there was a mom and kid and the mom was like "I promise sweetie there's a huge drop" and the kid was excited but then there was no drop and he was super pissed lmao
I love classic mine-rides like this one! Such weird layouts, so many lifts hills, and fun for the whole family. The only thing I think Cedar Point's is missing is a good tunnel!
They may be fairly tame, but I have made it a point to do each mine train coaster at least once. Arrow coaster may be jerky, but they sure did have a way of accelerating where you'd least expected it. They would pick up significant speed with only the slightest drops. It makes these rides the perfect rides to do when you are recovering from another ride.
All those straight sections make me want to add block brakes to allow for more trains and thus more throughput, but then I remember this isn't Rollercoaster Tycoon...
If you live anywhere near Cedar Point, then I definitely recommend this as a 1st roller coaster. It only goes 40 mph and it's very tame meaning that there are no steep drops or anything like that. The only thing that it really does is go in a little swirly thing at the end and that's it.
fair point but it's not for someone who likes to challenge themselves. That's why amusement parks have certain rides for certain kinds of people@@HoosierCanuk
This right might be tame in comparison to the bigger, faster and meaner rides built at Cedar Point but it sure is picturesque. That drop over the river is a lot of fun, and the whole coaster works so well with the scenery. These Arrow mine trains my not have the speed of modern coasters, but they don't need to. This is a family ride, and it's great to see it holding up.
This is my second favorite ride i went to cedar point on the 13th of June 2018 this is my second fav my first is the iron dragon my thrid is the blue streak
Probably one the best coasters for first timers. It's not fast or tall but is a lot of fun. The end is a blast. Be warned though because is goes so slow in parts it will get stuck on that top straight away. I sat for an hour up there before they got us moving.
I have an 8mm film of the runaway mine ride taken in the 70's very much like this POV from front seat. Only paused to rewind Kodak camera spring on each hill, but have all the rest on a 3' reel. Back then they let people do that.
I remember riding this for the first time when I was little and it was just me and my big brother and he told me if I was scared just hold onto him...he was the one who got scared, I was having a blast🤭
When I went to Cedar Point in October of this year this ride broke down with us on it and we had to wait 20 minutes and walk down a plank to get off of it and we had to sign a waiver before we could leave.
This ride needs... Something. Perhaps they can give it the Disaster Transport treatment as the new indoor coaster. Besides, it's a mine ride, shouldn't it run through a mine of some sort? Or they could make it like adventure express from kings island.
Agree. I like this ride, it's obviously much tamer than some of CP's other coasters, but this is still fun. An indoor element would certainly make sense and maybe add a little excitement to it.
orangeTadpole Avalanche Run was only changed because sand kept blowing into the ride. And the CEO at the time thought he could make cedar point the Disneyland of the Midwest.
List of coasters,water rides, and flat rides im gonna do when i go to cedar point 1.Rougarou 2.Gatekeeper 3.Raptor 4.Maverick 5.Steel Vengeance 6.Corkscrew 7.Iron Dragon 8.Blue Streak 9.Gemini 10.Cedar Creek Mine 11.Matterhorn 12.Super Himalaya 13.Wind Seeker 14.Skyhawk 15.Monster 16.Tiki Twirl 17.Ocean Motion 18.Thunder canyon 19.Snake River Falls 20.Witches' Wheel 21.Pipe Scream Edit:Im gonna go on valravn after steel vengeance
mine train coasters are usually super boring to me. however this one wasnt to bad pretty decent. and i may get hate for this but i think it was a lot more fun then the Kings Island one....lol i mean this one had an actual drop....a tiny one yes but still it was a decent drop.
I remember the first time I went on this ride I told my dad "will this make me barf?" he said no but as he did a drunk guy on the ride barfed right at the end. it terrified me!
1st coaster - junior Gemini 2nd coaster - Woodstock express 3rd coaster - this 4th will be Gemini then corkscrew and I might do windseeker idk I'm only 10 :3
So yesterday I went on this ride twice. The first time with my friends and we got stuck at the second climb. And then the second time I rode it I was with my girlfriend and her friends. Well, we got stuck AGAIN at the same place but all the other people who ride it never got stuck
Knexpert_of_Kansas Right. I understand. I'm just saying it's fun to see the first coaster train design I ever stepped into somewhere else. Gold Rusher was my first. I had to stand on my toes to reach the minimum height line.
My legs felt cramped and hurt on this ride! Anybody else feel discomfort? I loved it as a kid though, when I was a lot shorter. Still a beautiful ride but best for shorter people.
Lol this is one of the ROLLER COASTERS in going to. The list is 1. Magnum 2.Corkscrew 3. Iron dragon 4. Gemini 5. Blue streak 6. CEDAR creek mine. I wrote this from deadly terrifying to meh this ride could have done better. These are the ones I'm riding next time I go to Cp
Yeah I know.... I added 2 more to my list; Millenium force and Maverick. I might even go on Wicked twister. We are going literally at the end of summer :p

CrappyFilms Back in the day, this WAS one of the big rides!
Big Red yeah, strange ay?
Finally! A coaster I can ride and not feel as if I'm going to die.
Love it I went on the Gemini and I thout I was gonna die
Ikr? I can never ride fast rides because I always feel SOOO SICK
+Cheryse Lawrence Though this one tends to beat you up a bit, not a lot, but just a bit.
I am so glad you had fun............................................baby.
Cheryse Lawrence the blue streak is ok too
This ride might be the least thrilling at the park but its still a classic! The ending helix is the best!
Deon Kidd considering I’m a kid, I have to agree
Yeah it might not be the biggest but its fun
No, the least thrilling is probably Blue Streak.
Journey On Rails tard
@@blizzmuzic hands up !!! Dare you on first little hill. You're airborn in your seat along with the cars.
Brings back good memories with my mum.

I thought vortex at kings island started the coaster war bc it inspried shockwave which inspired GASM at great adventure which inspired magnum
I remember riding this as a warm-up, and there was a mom and kid and the mom was like "I promise sweetie there's a huge drop" and the kid was excited but then there was no drop and he was super pissed lmao
First rollercoaster l rode as a kid, fond memories of my mother screaming and my dad yelling at me to put my hands down, still brings back a smile!
tbh this shit is scary at night
Oh man what a classic. I'm not a coaster fan by any means, but always loved this one.

omg ikr
Planet Coaster baybee
actually, some of those straight sections actually WERE block brakes back when this coaster first opened and ran 5 trains
Or a place for an on ride photo section.
That was a great ride I rode as a kid! I miss those years when I rode these rides. The video was well produced! Keep up the good work!
My kind of coaster no big drops! Perfect
Went on it yesterday. So awesome!
My friends and I call it the "Thigh Killer"
how about cedar creek thigh ride
Liam Gray I call this the cedar crack your thighs mine ride
Lolllll,, they screamed "yeeaaaah" on the mid course break run. Lollllll
The support beams on this guy shake a lot and it's spooky
This is a great warm up coaster for kids/adults who are unsure about riding bigger coasters. I hope the park never gets rid of it.

Elizabeth_958
I want to ride this. But I'm in England.
ST SNSGT XD I live near cedar point my dad took me on blue streak for my first roller coaster
I love this coaster at cedar point! It’s so fun!
I've been on this so many times but I was to scared you open my eyes. That's the only reason I'm watching this lol (I hate roller coasters btw)
One of the best rides at Cedar Point!
yeah if your 6
@Crazy child Josie but they need to be exciting. I rode this one and it wasn't. it was slow and I didn't feel as much thrill as I did from the others
@@aidanbarnes4290it's subjective. For someone who's never been on one it might be fun.

This ride was REALLY fun.
It’s a nice coaster to chill on in my opinion
I can't wait to ride this tomorrow
Was it fun c:
Yeah
I wanted to go on it but I felt sick to many spin rides
i also got on the meanstreack that was my very first roller coaser
I love this one so much
this ride is amazing for beginners
This video is great!
I love this ride!!!
I completely appreciate this ride. It was the first big roller coaster that my youngest daughter rode. That being said, it's time to retire.
I love the theme of this ride.
I long for the days when ride operators just ran the ride and didn't yammer constantly on the mic.
And then you can't even hear them so it's just mumbling loudly for two minutes
This is my second favorite ride i went to cedar point on the 13th of June 2018 this is my second fav my first is the iron dragon my thrid is the blue streak
Is it just me, or did anyone think that drop was decently thrilling.
Probably one the best coasters for first timers. It's not fast or tall but is a lot of fun. The end is a blast. Be warned though because is goes so slow in parts it will get stuck on that top straight away. I sat for an hour up there before they got us moving.
I rode this at night. It gives calming views. It's fun.

The first non kiddie coaster I road back in 1978. I miss CP!
I went on this for a school trip and this thing was ok but it hurt my arms and the rest of my friends too.
Oof my bones
this was the first coaster i ever rode as a boy in the 80's
I remember riding this for the first time when I was little and it was just me and my big brother and he told me if I was scared just hold onto him...he was the one who got scared, I was having a blast🤭
My Faviorite Ride
This ride us super fun
I have been on this ride it is so cool

Use to be my favorite...now it's the Maverick
My first and only coaster I've ridden not a fan of coasters but want to.
I love the helix at the end.
I'm going on this when I go to cedar point on Friday 🤗😛
Good ride!
You seem to show up in every vid I watch. Lol

orangeTadpole Avalanche Run was only changed because sand kept blowing into the ride. And the CEO at the time thought he could make cedar point the Disneyland of the Midwest.
I was on that rollercoaster and the bars went up in the middle of the ride. Me and my friends almost fell out
Ahhhhhh.. it has a seatbelt as well as a lap bar, so I doubt your "almost""story
May I use this footage for a review? I will give you full POV footage.
Ngl this coaster is a head banger and really rough
You can actually enjoy a cup of coffee while you ride this and not have to worry about spilling it.
lol!
this is my first rollarcoaster
This is what we ride when the wait times on the big boys are a lil out of hand and you just need to pass the time. Still fun though
I rode a ride similar to that but it was called the mine train!

mine train coasters are usually super boring to me. however this one wasnt to bad pretty decent. and i may get hate for this but i think it was a lot more fun then the Kings Island one....lol i mean this one had an actual drop....a tiny one yes but still it was a decent drop.
Save the mine ride
The first hybrid at cedar point
Nice
Kid: Mine Ride 1 looks too intense for me
My friend and I went on this right before we did Dragster and it was a lot of fun. Definitely one of the more themed rides at Cedar Point.
I got anxiety watching this. The ride leans to the left almost constantly.
I remember the first time I went on this ride I told my dad "will this make me barf?" he said no but as he did a drunk guy on the ride barfed right at the end. it terrified me!
1st coaster - junior Gemini
2nd coaster - Woodstock express

THIS RIDE IS SO SKARY I WET MI PANT

You will definitely wet pant on Top Thrill Dragster or Millennium Force then.
Use the bathroom before u get on those big coasters lol
That was my first « real » roller coaster

I been on iron dragon and blue streak I was 4 that's why I did two
I like the part when it turns left
Is this rough?
no, not really
Same trains as Gold Rusher at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
that's cause their made by the same manufacture smarty.
Auggie Whitman Arrow made a lot of different trains.
Docktor Jim yeah but their both arrow mine trains so thats why
It's a mine train, they aren't going to theme the trains to an automobile
Knexpert_of_Kansas Right. I understand. I'm just saying it's fun to see the first coaster train design I ever stepped into somewhere else. Gold Rusher was my first. I had to stand on my toes to reach the minimum height line.
The guys that run it now are funny xD

My legs felt cramped and hurt on this ride! Anybody else feel discomfort? I loved it as a kid though, when I was a lot shorter. Still a beautiful ride but best for shorter people.
I've riddene this, it's fun but rough..Ouchie!!
