I received mine a couple of days ago as an early birthday present (to myself!) and I love it. I opted for the black dial and rubber strap but, was pleasantly surprised to receive the bracelet as well. Also included was a spring bar tool with spare spring bars, extra links and a link removal tool. Also was a warranty card with my name handwritten, date of purchase and a "Thanks" also handwritten and all for around $120. How they make any money is beyond me. I bought this as a beater for my Omega Seamaster but, what a purchase.
Good review. I paid just over $70 CDN about two weeks on Aliexpress for the green version. It arrived last week and is just a stunner. Meets and exceeds all my expectations. Some time ago I had a Marathon GSAR automatic diver, a watch that sells between $1000 used and $2000 new, and the Steeldive is easily the equal of that premium watch. Buy the Steeldive with confidence.
Great review, I have both the black and blue variants, both lovely examples, the black may well end up being modified at some point, but over all, 'stock' or 'modded', they're great value solid mechanical watches that'll just run and run!
Best lume out of my collection ( some very expensive!!) this watch is amazing for the price, nh35 very precise, look good, very comfortable and crazy good lume , all for just few $$$ !!!
Got muh Willard yesterday. It wears comfortable on a Zulu strap. The steel bracelet is trash. Really great watch. Got two of em black Friday $70 each. The other coming Monday. For the $ the are amazing!😎
Got a green one in 2020, before they even did bracelets. I flipped the green one today (green was clashing with my wardrobe) and ordered a black bracelet version today.
@@thefunkwatchcollective it's great, and I believe that they do actually come from the same factory. I really wanted the abalone dial or I probably would've went with the Steeldive. One difference with the particular one that I have is that it has a stainless bezel insert, not ceramic, but it does look great with the abalone dial
Love their homage of the seiko marine master as well - a real chuck of watch with nh35 again just bought for £ 82 Sterling - cracking watch available in many colours again - rubber or metal straps - impressed - I have had Willard model for over a year - as accurate as my Tissot powermatic +- 7 secs day - impressive 👌
Just acquired one of these and no photos/videos do it visual justice. It is fantastic and brilliant value for your money. I got a few watches ~ but this one is special. My only doubt is about the credibility of the 200m (or any) water resistance. Anyone ever use one of these in water based activities?
I have been looking real hard at this watch on Aliexpress. But I'm reluctant to pull the trigger on it. I have the wrist size for it, no problem. My issues are the overall case shape (its very retro and not really my personality) and the 20mm lug width is just so small to me. I have a Seiko Turtle which I love, but sometimes (just sometimes) I look at it and I'm annoyed by the retro case shape. I'm weird I guess.
I own exactly the same .. good choice and very accurate out the box (this can vary .. question of luck but anyways this movement is easy to regulate if you are in the watch collector wagon)
One of the very best watches you can buy for the price, or at any price. I prefer it to my 2 San Martins to be honest. It has lume which shames my Helm Khuruburi. And from a cheapo £80 watch running at +5 seconds a day within COSC standards. Seiko does not stack up favourably to this. An amazing watch.
Its a great watch. Be careful who you buy the watch from on aliexpress though. Some sellers will sell counterfeit Steeldive watches. I know its crazy because its a budget homage of a watch, but chinese will pretty much copy anything that sells well. Even a copy of a copy. I noticed that the store that you linked only has 705 followers and has been around since aug 2021 vs the official store that has 17803 followers and has been around since Jan 2011.
My black one is one week old and on my wrist it was $55 on June 25, 2024 my black one is one week old and on my wrist it was $55 on June 25, 2024.. it seems they have this mobile perfected.
CORRECTION: THIS IS *NOT A WILLARD its homaging a NAOMI UEMURA. Willard is 42mm. Naomi is 44mm which this is. Its actually a REHAULT and not a chapter ring. A chapter ring is what is on the TURTLE - Its marked. Lastly, HARDLEX is by far superior than Saphire thats why all CASIO G SHOCKS have Mineral Crystal instead of Saphire. Also, HARDLEX Crystal have a HD Clarity than Saphire- something that Spencer Klein can attest to. Now, while these Chinese Made Homage are affordable and even better than SEIKO they will never replace SEIKO's History, Provenance, Originality and the Prestige of owning a historical timepiece. I just finished watching the Races in Hungary and SEIKO was everywhere. SEIKO is also the largest sponsor of OLYMPICS. This homages are ideal for gifting lets say your Teenage son or aging dad. Nothing like saving your hard earned money and buying the real deal. I just spend $1800 on a MM300 and while i could have got one from RDUNAE or HEIMDALLR for $300 savinh the extra $1500 is priceless and will do it again for the real NAOMI UEMURA
Wow! Thank you so much for all that info! You should have your own channel! I hope you subscribed. I'd love to hear what you have to say about my other reviews!
@@thefunkwatchcollective Double Check but the unit you have is homaging the Naomi Uemura which retails for $4500 SLA series. Unbeknownst to many, the NAOMI UEMURA has a compelling history as SEIKO Designers purposely named it so to pay tribute to a real person who made enormous contributions to exploration as opposed to the Willard which is a pseudonym after a fictional character and it's not designated as such by SEIKO. I know! I didn't get all that stuff, but what a deal! Why buy a seiko these days right? Lol
I bought mine 6 month ago and I love it. And I love it even more since I swapped the bracelet for a tropic strap. Great review btw ;)
Thx so much! And yes, I've switched mine to a tropic as well lol
I got mine for $56.... it's incredible for that price.
Right? Wear it in good health!

I agree whole heartedly!
That clasp isn’t milled, its just a different style of pressed/stamped clasp.
My bad! Lol
It's milled now
Bought the black yesterday on the bracelet for 78 dollars including 6% sales tax. Crazy cheap! Can't wait till it get here.
You won't be disappointed! Such a steal!

How was the green?
These are awesome watches! I picked up a. abalone dial Addiesdive version of this watch, it's phenomenal
How's the quality of the Addies dive? Comparable to Steel dive? I feel like they would come from the same factory. Lol

@@dubester1982my first and only abalone dial was from Deep Blue. It was a catch and release for me. Lol
I bought the green model about a year ago and I absolutely love mine. It has great specs for the price.
Totally agree!
picked up the Blue.....the blue sunburst dial is a real dazzler in sunlight
Haven't seen their blue in person...

A $100 gamble is worth it IMO. They're also easy to sell. I feel like they fit like turtles. Just a heads up.
Stunning!
Thank you! Cheers!
The Willard is nh35 but the seiko is nh36a.
Nice catch... Still a seiko movement tho! Lol

Thx Jason!

steeldive comex homage is a terrific watch also
With the quality of my 1970, I wouldn't be surprised that any of the steeldives are terrific.
Superb watch..unbelievable value..
Ultra agree!
How does this watch do in the water
I have yet to take it anywhere near water... lol

That's $80CDN! Bravo sir! Lol
L'ho comprato pure io. Lo steeldive è superiore ad addiesdive. Ha il bracciale con il logo.
I agree!
SD-1974 is better and I am awaiting delivery of the white dial iteration.
I'll have to look into the '74. Thx!
$94? $67 + tax now
I'm Canadian.... lol
Olá. Tenho um igual. É muito superior ao meu Seiko Turtle. Sem mencionar que a qualidade é infinitamente superior ao Seiko.
I totally agree! Why buy a seiko these days? Lol
youre comparing a turtle to a captain willard.
Homage. Oh so that is what design theft is called these days. Good to know.
I appreciate your candor!
