I have four of these Steeldive 1970's. Absolutely the favourite design among all my watches, and I have a LOT. There's something about the overall design that is just mesmerizing, turtle, round and square shapes in a fantastic mix, I just love it. I have the black dial, green dial, blue, and a black/bronze and a variety of silicone rubber and leather straps for variation. The accuracy of the ones I got is from -3 secs a day to +3 secs a day, pretty awesome actually. Thanks for the video 👍🌟🌟🌟
@@LastWatch thanks for the reply. Honestly i think that the original design by seiko on the captain willard is fantastic so it's all thanks to Them. But I honestly see no reason ro buy a Seiko when these are so good.
Matthew is the most honest person i've ever ordered from. I ordered this same watch for €140, a couple of days before the brexit and the watch arrived on 2/1/2021. The courier called me from the customs and asked me another €150 !!! I did not receive the watch and Matthew returned me not only the cost of the watch, but also the shipping cost. That's Matthew.
I already bought one SD 1970 without even thinking, I can tell in this particular product is deal in team of price and so all over ...Thx for the review
I've had one for about 5 months. Love the watch. I have Seiko divers ( Arnie, Tuna, Samurai, a Save The Ocean Turtle and the new King Turtle) . This watch has become my go-to weekender. Can't go wrong for the money. It's a lot of watch for it's price point. A bonus feature is that is watch is a strap monster. I've had it on black and brown vintage leather, nato and Zulu straps of all colors. It looks great on just about all color variations. It's on an Uncle Seiko waffle strap as I write this.
Ain't that the truth! I have a tropical rubber strap, a waffle and a good quality olive green nato (which it looks fantastic on) but I did a lot of filing on the original bracelets end links and rebrushed them so that they fit perfectly and added a milled clasp, while I do think it looks great on the previously mentioned straps I also like it on the bracelet. I bought a Miltat bracelet which I'm going to mod to accept the end links that came with the watch (hopefully) but to be honest it looks the same as the original which after a few months is still absolutely fine and if modding the Miltat proves difficult, I have no problems keeping it on the original bracelet. I recently bought a Seiko Solar Tuna and whilst in store was able to handle the Prospex Captain Willard and you know what? I don't think it's any better than the Steeldive, looked a bit smaller but the SD1970 looks nicer (looks like it's older, with the slightly yellowed lume) I still can't believe what a fantastic bargain it is. The bezel action is also nicer than the Seiko's, in my opinion anyway. (Same with the Steeldive Tuna and Seiko Tuna-Lite which feel very similar but I have to say I think the Steeldive's has the edge) I really like Seiko's designs but I think that they're overpriced and under specced, Hardlex simply won't do when you can get sapphire with AR coating, and is a ceramic bezel insert really to much to expect at Seiko's prices? When there are so many watches with these features that have Seiko's excellent NH35A movement in them, there seems to be little reason to buy a Seiko. Trouble is that Seiko seem content with the way things are, perhaps they have enough people who are happy to spend £1,200 on a Prospex Captain Willard?
china? what a joke.. not even a good investment... thus it have a value after 10yrs? NO... Do an original Seiko have value after 10yrs if your planning to sell it, YES.. i dont want to waste my money for a copy style watch from China fraud..
Looked on their web site a few weeks ago and the SD 1970 was out of stock. Emailed Matthew the next morning and he got back to tell me they're now in stock. Ordered there and then and literally 24 hour later it was at my front door. Fantastic service. As for the watch? Can't fault it. It's not been off my wrist since it arrived.
just order it on Amazon UK... comes with the same extra strap, just as seen in this video, ordered mine yesterday morning, was at my doorstep 7PM the same day. Everything aligns, seems to keep excellent time (tho’ need to wear it for a few days first,), bezel action perfect (better than my Seiko’s). In stock, fulfilled by Amazon. ;)
I saw your review about a week ago and I finally decided to go for it and quickly went onto Steeldive UK and bought the 1970, you can't beat £104 (+ free postage) and have the reassurance of a UK based dealer, can't wait.
I bought the "great wave" version las week and liked it so much that I have just ordered the green version. I have several other Chinese watches but this is a completely new level of quality. Recommended!
Mine just arrived today from AliExpress, it had the metal band but no 2nd rubber band, also mine was stamped with the Steeldive logo. I'm in Australia & the watch cost me $114 AU & came a full 7 days before their predicted delivery date so I'm pretty happy, the only down point is it was supposed to have the anti reflective coating & mine dosn't appear to have it as it is missing that blue tint on the edge of the glass, but that's about it. It did come with the tool to adjust the band, but I already had a watch repair kit but it was a nice touch & damn it is a solid bugger lol, I recomend it as the price for what you get is very good.
Have just found Last Watch and wow what a straightforward anf comprehensive review. I like your style and the absence of the theatrics found on so many of the other watch review channels. And I might just buy this watch!
I got mine from Ali express, and it came in two weeks, on a waffle ribber strap, for $63 USD delivered. It has become my favorite daily driver. I'm absolutely blown away by this watch. I would've thought it a steal at 300 plus, and it has the real deal Seiko movement. I have no idea how they can sell it for so little. It's not a "value" watch, it's a gorgeous, super cool diver, that just happens to be confoundingly affordable.
I've just purchased a San Martin SN017-G V3 from Steeldive UK and your discount code still works. Thanks for the seller recommendation and the fiver off, I ordered it mid-morning and received it before midday the next day. The watch is excellent, better than expected - very happy.
After watching this review you inspired me to check out the range Matthew offered and he had sold out of this Captain Willard type so I purchased the SD1953, I had an issue with fitting of the mechanism and it wouldn’t hack and stopped depending what way the watch was placed. He had excellent communication and super quick delivery and he happily replaced it for another and it’s been working perfectly. Will definitely buy off him again as he now has this SD1970 back in. Ended up being a costly video for me to watch as I’m gonna end up buying a second watch from him shortly.
Matthew certainly seems to put his customer care first and foremost, glad you got sorted. My 1970 is becoming one of the best additions to me collection, I suspect it will be joined by other Steeldive's
I have this watch, love it, keeps perfect time with about 2 sec fast per day. I have mine on a Nato strap. This my everyday watch and I swim often with it. I am so pleased with it! best watch deal I have ever come across.
Excellent review! I've been eyeing this watch for some time now, and even more so with the updated version. Your video popped me over the edge...I just bought one in each color to showcase on my channel. Love your style! Thanks for sharing...and glad you ended up buying the watch!
That’s an honor to hear that you’re binge watching! Thanks so much! Appreciate your compliments on my voice, too. I’m just starting out on the Tube, but I’ve got long term goals and a path. Let’s just see if I can stay on it. Hope you subscribe to follow along.
I don't know what is happening in China right now, but a lot of the stuff they are turning out - Steeldive and San Martin - are first class, surprising high quality and much better than Parnis etc./ The quality and build are first-rate and yes, they can dive!
I only bought the Pagani Design Hulk a few months ago, now I have a new itch I need to scratch! The fact I can buy from the UK makes an enormous difference. Thanks for the review! Love the channel.
SteeldiveUK seem to sell out quite quickly with the 1970, I would suggest you contact Matthew directly about it's availability and be sure to mention LastWatch for your discount
I have had this watch for about 6 months and wear it on rotation so it doesn't have too many miles on the clock but I will admit I love this watch for £100 quid you just can't grumble, and I got a very accurate one gained about 30 seconds over a week which is fantastic, don't like the logo at all but other than that I consider this watch a keeper....also changed the clasp for a scissor clasp from Ali Ex for just £5 quid makes the bracelet a lot better..I will be buying another Steel Dive very soon..
I have a Steel Dive 1970. One of the best watches I have ever owned. My daily wearer and a remarkable lume watch that lasts the entire night, night after night. Many reviews, not this one, call it a lume king. I agree. In my humble opinion, the Steel Dive is only bettered by my Tritium watch for a watch you want to wear to bed at night.
Ordered mine 2 weeks ago and it arrived yesterday ($111.60). I also ordered a few leather watch bands from AliExpress (Maikes, $17 ea., in black, chocolate brown, and light brown; all with deployment clasp). The choc. brown leather goes very well with the Green dial on my new Cpt. Willard. I am impressed...a new daily driver for moi. The black strap I have paired with an Aragon Divemaster 42 (in black dial, SII NH36A, ceramic bezel, S.S., sapphire crystal, $149). Another excellent watch that is also attractive.
I've just bought one of these direct from Aliexpress China - £ 108.82 all in (free shipping). It arrived in the UK today! (7 days from date of order). I ordered with rubber strap as the standard bracelet is poor. It didn't come with any pin tools or any other accessories other than a blank warranty card and instruction manual (English). The watch is beautiful - no apparent manufacturing issues whatsoever.
Had mine from Matthew 5 months ago now and really loving the watch (I got the updated version)., Amazing value for money and I agree, Matthews customer service was superb. I’m wearing mine on a Watchgecko tropic strap. Great review/video btw.
Hi: What is the updated version? Thx. Digging this watch as something you wear and not worry about and compared to the new Seiko at $1000 might just be the perfect travel, swim banging around watch.
This watch is outstanding and the customer service from Matthew is excellent. I emailed him enquiring about the watch and 24 hours later it was in my waiting hand. All for a £104.
Excellent review m8! I've ordered mine 4 weeks ago (from China via Aliexpress) on a sale for $116 CDN (~$90USD). Incredible value. I've been very happy with the Chinese quality having bought 3-4 Pagani's in the past. They are all super accurate with incredible specs. Can't wait to receive my Black 1970 soon! Keep up the great videos...
I have 3steel dives the Green California, Sumo from ebay, and the Captain Willard which I bought from eBay and of them all I love the Willard most,I have the blue with the blue waffle strap as well as the braclet Thanks for the review its just reaffirmed what a great watch it is.
Mine just arrived. DHL to Australia from Hong Kong within a few days. Compares very nicely to my 151 and then I’ll check it against my 6105 about to arrive in the post. These watches are very impressive. I think they deserve their success.
Bought a few months ago. Well worth the money. I decided to buy shark mesh strap with milled clasp and watch looks amazing. Was worried about watch size but it sits perfect on my 6 3/4 inch wrist. I've got dozen automatic watches but this is one of my favourite
I got the bronze version of this and its really blown me away. It's the cheapest watch in my collection by far but it looks, feels and wears like something many times its price. Its pretty damn impressive and Steeldive are filling a major gap in Seiko's lineup (give us bronze watches already). The bronze is definitely a better option if you want a homage that is clearly different from the original and not a "clone".
They were "Popular" with our U.S. Service men in the Asian theater because of PX sales. Those retail outlets located on the base offered these watches at good prices. Thus a quality product at prices the Soldiers could afford!
Great review. A lot of watch for the money! Still about whether to get one. I thought I settled for a Green one, then I watched a review of the blue one. Now I think the black one looks very nice too.
Didn't know about Steeldive UK but I purchased this a couple of weeks ago. No rush to get it so the delay is irrelevant (as long as it isn't ridiculous). I don't really care about the brand, I just want a watch that keeps time, looks nice and doesn't need winding constantly. Smartwatches get a hall pass for winding, and battery life, obviously. The Steelcase 1970 (with the no logo option) will suit me fine, I am sure. Appreciate the review. Seems to confirm my choice was a good one.
Got one on the 11-11 AliX sale for $65 USD. Must say I do love the watch. So much so that I overpaid for another at $84. The value for money is absolutely nuts. There's room for improvement, but for $65-85 who can complain.
Great watch, bought one a while ago. Outstanding value, strap monster and very comfortable. Excellent review. Just recently picked up Heimdallr Monster in blue, that also outstanding value and good specs. You may want to check one out. Excellent timekeeping just like the 1970, also with the NH movement.
You probably dont give a damn but does any of you know of a way to log back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot my login password. I would love any tricks you can give me.
@Julio Alfred thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
So you had a look at Steeldive then! These are great watches. I remember you saying you had ordered the sub too at a reasonable price. Perhaps a video option would putting that against the PD hulk. Think the Steeldive would win. Might be worth asking Matthew for a Tuna to review SD1975. These are £134.99 and look like a substantial watch but decent lugwidth making them wearable for most wrist sizes. And like the 1970 they come in green or blue colour variants which is worth a mention here. My 1970 is on the Waffle Rubber strap and is the best affordable watch I own.
I got one just to have an ok mechanical automatic watch. Love it. I like the heft. I have giant hands, so it doesn’t look like a ladies watch my wrist.
@@oktc68 Really enjoying it! :Best lume ever, solidly built, lines up perfectly, it's just a great watch. Have it on a retro tropic strap now... which straps have you used? Cheers!
The logos on the case back, and the crown are lazer engraved!….beautiful watch. I have the Addies Dive logo version. I have also replaced the stamped clasp, with a higher end milled clasp. So much better on the provided bracelet, and makes it very wearable. The bracelet is perfectly good once you change the clasp. This is the same exact watch as the SteelDive….and I absolutely love it!
Just learned about this Steeldive in the past week. This is the best look at it I've found. I was very interested when I heard about the Willard re-issue, but was disappointed by its limited release and high price. The original was an affordable tool watch, so this Steelwatch is more in that spirit. I'm in the US, otherwise I'd use your Steedive UK link.
Just received a bronze 50 phatoms homage from steeldive uk and first impressions are allright. A decent chunk of metal, workhorse movement, good lume and an attractive design. Negatives for me would be the contrasting white branding(and date window) and the bezel seems wonky when you press it down although it does allign. Overall it is worth what theyre asking for it.
Good review. I just ordered a better I believe version of this with the Watchdives logo. It has a better milled clasp and 6 micro adjusts. Otherwise it's essentially the same watch. BTW, the bracelet is an oyster style not jubilee. Totally agree this model is a kick-ass buy and will do quite well for a long time.
if you look at the macro shot of the 6 o clock marker in the video at 10:39, when you look at the bottom corners of the marker and you compare that with the 29 and 31 minute markers, it does look like there is a small alignment issue. I'm looking at this watch very carefully as I have ordered one and now can't stop watching online reviews of it. This is such a small issue and with the naked eye, probably not even visible but still worth pointing out. For the price of this watch I feel like that is minor and can and should be forgiven. I mean you can't expect perfection at this price. Still a really good buy!!
I bought the green one from AliExpress. It's an absolutely fabulous watch. I got it from the Steeldive store and it was under £70. It really is pointless buying a Seiko or even a Heimdallr homage for more money when this has a perfectly good Seiko movement and is beautifully finished. Just a footnote, I think Addies Dive are the same company. They both seem to be trying to build a brand reputation and aren't rip off merchants. I got the extra csse candy too and I didn't buy from the UK outlet which is not to say that I won't. I'm now checking out videos as to what makes Heimdallr or Proxima any different if at all in a watch with like for like movement, lume, sapphire crystal and case construction (obviously bronze will cost a little more). Honestly it's difficult to see without actually seeing one how a San Martin could be any better. It probably is just maybe the others are over pricing.
Addiesdive dial logos follow a similar theme to SteelDive, they may have the same parent company. No doubt the cases are all made at the same plant and sold to any brand that wants to make a homage, their level of finish would be a personal choice
@@LastWatch really it’s an outstanding watch my everyday watch.. only problem I have is .... taking it off .. got more expensive watches but love this watch
Great fan of Steeldive watches. Got three of them. Best part is they are almost full compatible (except for the bezel) with custom parts for Seiko. You can do your very own unique watch, without the fear of damaging a 300+ € Seiko and still having a great movement on your wrist.
@@LastWatch Don’t get me wrong, I like them a lot as they are. But if someone is into all the modding watch thing, Steeldive watches are a great base to start learning.
My dad had a Seiko 6105 in the 70s. The chances of me getting an original at $1000+ aren't all that great at the moment. I can't see anything wrong with the SD1970 at this price. I think you've convinced me, brother.
Ah, wow! What a great presentation.👍 I have a no logo Willard with NH35. Came with a cheap insert, which I replaced with a 'Genuine Seiko parts' one. $116US + $11 insert
Yes. But it has a wide crown guard like the homages. Just wondering whose factory made it. The dial is off-black with greenish lume. Soon to be a Frankenstein-watch
As you said, the wearability of the Steeldive is just great. It is very comfortable. The extra 1mm of diameter makes it for me. I had the SPB237, I think it shares the same case and case size as the 151. I like the proportions of the Steeldive better, though the same thickness, it appears less squat and not as thick as the newer Seikos. The Steeldive just sits more comfortably and looks better on my wrist. Warranty and bracelet are pretty much givens, and as you say, the watch, the head itself has some weight. So onto a silicone or rubber it goes, you can't expect much of a bracelet or warranty at this price and from the other side of the world. I'd expect great inconvenience with any warranty service though. I work hard for my money, but losing $100 will not solve my problems. Really enjoyed your review and checking out some others, influencing my purchases. It’s really great that you can get great pleasure and fun from a watch while paying so little. I am truly enjoying this every bit as much as the Rolexs, Omegas, Grand Seikos that I have owned.
@@LastWatch LOVE your logic lol But... it's not just the name, again, for me, it is the dimension. It's that extra 1mm in diameter that makes the Steeldive look and feel better to me.
I've got the Addies Dive version. Same watch, different label. I also have their Tuna homage. The Willard is my absolute favourite, but from a value perspective, I don't think you can beat either one.
@@LastWatch It does! Seiko are increasing prices trying to increase margins snd I believe taking advantage of a nostalgia market. Not that I’m wanting to enrich China, but these watches speak for themselves. I have a Flightmaster, and that is what I consider a reasonable price. Seiko, everyone does what they think best, and I’ll keep my money in my picket thank you.
Great review 👍 really like the way you described the watch and your style ! I'm still on the fence about Homage watches I recently saw a review of the Steeldive Tudor Homage , I might pick up one being that I'm interested in maybe picking up one of those !
Looked on the site the other day and this watch was out of stock. Emailed them to ask when it will be back in stock and the next day Matthew replied saying it's just now in stock. Ordered it there and then and just 24 hours later it was in my waiting hands. Now that's service. I cannot believe I only paid £104 for this time piece. It's a hell of a lot of watch for the money.
Last Watch Unfortunately I only found your channel after I got the watch. I’ve no complaints though. Still dirt cheap for what you get. Great review anyway
My SD1970 came with a minor qc issue; The six o'clock index marker is slightly rough around the edges. But since it's barely visible I chose not to hassle with returning it to China, refunds etc. Otherwise, I love it and it's such great value for the money IMHO considering the Seiko's most "affordable" reissue of this is around $1K if IIRC? Funny thing is, when I shortened the bracelet I apparently was a bit sloppy as one pin popped out shortly after (and of course disappeared). Since I've already had a waffle strap ready for this one, I instantly put that on. Though I liked the bracelet for what it was, it feels like this watch looks better with a waffle strap (or a "chocolate bar" strap, which I believe Sheen actually had?), and I've kept it ever since.
Pick these up for around £70 Sterling now with free post from Ali Express - absolute bargain and the newer homage to marine master turtle with nh35 also - Phil
I got my Willard from Longfield Chrono, also in the UK. Steeldive UK also have an agreement with San Martin. The watches are not on the website but they are available from Matthew on eBay. I bought a retro diver sn004g from there and while the watch was fine and he agreed to sending next day delivery the tools that were supposed to come with the watch were missing. I left a message but never got a reply. 🤷♂️
These are truly amazing watches, what you get for your money leaves those Japanese fellas with egg (foo young of course) on their faces. I would highly recommend for UK residents to buy from one of Steeldive's UK distributors, as they will have at minimum been given a visual inspection, some folks do much more than that. Not only do they look great mine keeps time like a champ, kept in a winder when not on my wrist, since first setting the watch 5 days ago it's running approximately 1¼-1½ seconds fast. After 5 days, that's better than my Swiss movments keep, admittedly this is good fortune and others may not equal this but pretty much all NH35A's are capable of solid accuracy, I've two others that run +/- 2-3 secs per day, and they're consistent. Seiko certainly know how to make a great movement (and watch, personally my opinion is they dropped the ball on the Captain Willard re-issue, too small, too pricey, many with misalignment issues) Great bargain watch.
@@LastWatch Hi, yesterday I took delivery of my newest "Captain Willard" homage. I really like this style of watch but wanted a little something extra. Then I saw Heimdallr's Vintage Mechanical Diver from their Custom Made range. Comes on a waffle strap, and has ETA's 2824 hi beat movement, a domed sapphire crystal, and a matt finish (maybe aluminium) bezel insert and a slightly different handset. The bezel looks great, it gives the watch more of a "vintage" look and really stands out where a ceramic bezel gets lost in the reflection off the watch face. The brushing on the top of the case is also a little finer (than my Steeldive) The handset has angled high polished edges and the light play is really something. Available thru AliExpress, a little more money but it definitely has a little something extra.
Also, an excellent watch. The luminous pip on bezel and slightly better brushed S.S. make the Heimdallr a fine choice for the extra US$30-$50. However, the SD comes with a fully luminous bezel (blue) to contrast the green lumina on the dial. Can't go wrong with either watch, IMO. SD has a relatively good reputation for consistent quality and customer service.
Good watch & inexpensive, no question about it. The inexpensive part is important because like most of these Chinese homages you'll struggle to find a buyer if you want to get rid of it.
I have no intention of getting rid of this watch, its a keeper. I do however have some fairly affordable watches in my collection that I plan to giveaway
Being an homage is slightly soul crushing but the design and it having a Seiko inside of it anyway is enough for me to pull the trigger on this one. It's a handsome watch in my opinion and Steeldive is a rather cool name for a change. It's a far cry from the abundance of Chinese products with awfully strange and hilarious names. (Hello LIGE? MERGIN? PARNIS?)
Wondeerfull! Now only if Alpha-1993 would up scale their own watches a little more. It looks like the back pattern was engraved by machining, but it's probably stamped, so take it off and look at the other side to tell?
I got mine yesterday. I absolutely love this style of watch but there is no way I can afford what Seiko wants for one of these. I got the black one on a bracelet and I must say I don't mind the bracelet too much. Sure, it could be better, but at least the clasp doesn't try to rip out my nail like the one on my Tissot Seastar does. The watch is pretty much spot on though there are some very minor niggles and I only picked these up when looking at the watch through a magnifying glass, mainly part of the border around the date window being rather rough, the hands being a little smudgy and what appeared to be a tiny chip in the sapphire right on the edge by the bezel, though on the wrist you don't notice these flaws. I do think the AR coating it a bit aggressive though. The crystal practically turns blue under the light.
@@LastWatch Absolutely I agree that it is still an incredible watch for what you pay and it's currently my favourite daily watch. I have a Tissot PR100 (Older one from nearly 10 years ago) which would cost about double in todays money and that only has a quartz movement. Compare that to the Cadisen C1032 it sits next to which also has sapphire glass and a Seiko NH35 movement for less than £50.
@@LastWatch ~Ordered on Tuesday and eav and was on my wrist Thursday afternoon. Not a fan of the bracelet but the free rubber strap it comes with makes up for this. Like you say this needs a tropic. Looking forward to giving it some wrist time over the next few weeks against my Seiko monster. A word on SteeldiveUK, They were spot on. Once ordered I never got the confirmation email but using the ask me item on the page and they replied very quickly it had all gone through and was being sent out that day. Will defo use them again and eyeing up the bronze pilots watch, Thanks for the code and look forward to your next video.
I only have one problem with this watch. The fact that the minute markers are on the dial instead of the chapter ring. Makes the dial look too small and cramped, and the chapter ring is unused space.
The dial is relatively uncluttered and having the dark rehaut makes the dial appear smaller therefore making the watch look smaller which is surprising for a 44mm watch.
@@LastWatch I think I prefer the San Martin's dial and chapter rings. Especially when it comes to coloured variants. However Steeldive's price is far better and is available on a bracelet which is always a plus.
Just got into Seiko's. Bought a Turtle last week, loved it so much I started looking at a SPB151. Had no idea Willard was "homage-worthy". Ordered a SD1970for my brothers Bday so can have a front row seat at the unboxing. Definitely getting one for me!
I'm not a fan of Seiko. I am a fan of Seagull and I have a Sea-gull Ocean Star diver and with a 28800bph high beat movement. I have had it for 3 years and love it.43mm 13mm thick and 190 grammes on its solid link bracelet and milled clasp. Well harder than the Willard copy and all in house from Sea-gull.
I'm envious, have you considered getting the Seiko
@@LastWatch thanks for the reply. Honestly i think that the original design by seiko on the captain willard is fantastic so it's all thanks to Them. But I honestly see no reason ro buy a Seiko when these are so good.
Matthew is the most honest person i've ever ordered from. I ordered this same watch for €140, a couple of days before the brexit and the watch arrived on 2/1/2021. The courier called me from the customs and asked me another €150 !!! I did not receive the watch and Matthew returned me not only the cost of the watch, but also the shipping cost. That's Matthew.
Mine came today. $54 on Ali. I'm very impressed by the quality.
Practically given it away
You sold it to me
Ain't that the truth!

Are you gaining/losing much as regards accuracy during the day?
@@gregorybarry4564 not much at all a few seconds fast maybe but nothing you woul notice.
Hi Paul, glad to hear Matthew was on his game, totally agree with you about this watch, it might be one of my best pickups of 2020
just order it on Amazon UK... comes with the same extra strap, just as seen in this video, ordered mine yesterday morning, was at my doorstep 7PM the same day.

2 things... firstly, I hope you used the discount code and got it for under a hundred quid. Secondly, I hope you enjoy the watch as much as I do
Steel dive watches are superb for the cost . I’ve owned mine for 2 years , time keeping excellent, water resistance 👍 ... these watches are tough !
I bought the "great wave" version las week and liked it so much that I have just ordered the green version.
I have several other Chinese watches but this is a completely new level of quality. Recommended!
There's room for improvement but it's one of my faves
I believe the 1970 has been upgraded, improvements to the bracelet, they may have taken a more subtle approach to the AR
Have just found Last Watch and wow what a straightforward anf comprehensive review. I like your style and the absence of the theatrics found on so many of the other watch review channels.
And I might just buy this watch!
Theatrics... I have my moments
@@LastWatch Moved the safety catch, pulled the trigger and brought down the waffle version - with the discount of course. Thanks for that.

I don't know what is happening in China right now, but a lot of the stuff they are turning out - Steeldive and San Martin - are first class, surprising high quality and much better than Parnis etc./ The quality and build are first-rate and yes, they can dive!
Law of averages, there is so much watch manufacturing going on in China it was only a matter of time before we got some quality
Steeldive...the best
Good post, totally agree. Purchased the San Martin 6538 Bond, brilliant watch. Just ordered the steeldive 6105.
I've been impressed as well with the quality.
I agree, I also did the clasp upgrade
Fantastic review. Very thorough. You make quite the salesman too.
This watch sells itself
I have a Steel Dive 1970. One of the best watches I have ever owned. My daily wearer and a remarkable lume watch that lasts the entire night, night after night. Many reviews, not this one, call it a lume king. I agree. In my humble opinion, the Steel Dive is only bettered by my Tritium watch for a watch you want to wear to bed at night.
I always place my watch on the bedside cabinet at eye level, perfect for when I wake in the middle of the night
Thanks for letting me know about Aragon, that one completely passed me buy
I've just bought one of these direct from Aliexpress China - £ 108.82 all in (free shipping). It arrived in the UK today! (7 days from date of order). I ordered with rubber strap as the standard bracelet is poor. It didn't come with any pin tools or any other accessories other than a blank warranty card and instruction manual (English). Bought a few months ago. Well worth the money. I decided to buy shark mesh strap with milled clasp and watch looks amazing. Was worried about watch size but it sits perfect on my 6 3/4 inch wrist. I've got dozen automatic watches but this is one of my favourite
The only negative thing about this watch is the bracelet, where did you pick up your replacement

I’m on my third purchase. They’re brilliant.
What do you have
I’ve got the blue tuna, the black turtle (after your review), and a bronze yachtmaster. All are in the rotation.
I'm still surprised how much I enjoy wearing this watch
Amen! That bronze is a nice twist ans reminds me of a bronze diving helmet and adds a bit of bling.
They were "Popular" with our U.S. Service men in the Asian theater because of PX sales. Those retail outlets located on the base offered these watches at good prices. Thus a quality product at prices the Soldiers could afford!
How times have changed, the Seiko re-issue was way out of the reach of the average soldier
Great review. A lot of watch for the money! Still about whether to get one. I thought I settled for a Green one, then I watched a review of the blue one. Now I think the black one looks very nice too.
Cheap enough to by 2 or maybe all three
Didn't know about Steeldive UK but I purchased this a couple of weeks ago.
The bracelet has some rough ends but the watch is a knock out, I'm sure you will love it
Got one on the 11-11 AliX sale for $65 USD. Must say I do love the watch. So much so that I overpaid for another at $84. The value for money is absolutely nuts. There's room for improvement, but for $65-85 who can complain.
I agree
Great watch, bought one a while ago. Outstanding value, strap monster and very comfortable. Excellent review. Just recently picked up Heimdallr Monster in blue, that also outstanding value and good specs. You may want to check one out. Excellent timekeeping just like the 1970, also with the NH movement.
The Heimdallr was mentioned to me by the chap that runs Steeldive UK, I may have to pick one up

It was inevitable ! I think the Pagani has a better bracelet but Steeldive is the better watch
I got one just to have an ok mechanical automatic watch. Love it. I like the heft. I have giant hands, so it doesn’t look like a ladies watch my wrist.

@LastWatch I think I paid after tax like $58 or something and that's the one with the textured rubber strap.
Thanks for your first impressions, keep me in the loop as I may consider getting the 50 fathoms or the 62 MAS
The Steeldive has also been recently upgraded, I suspect all these variants are made in the smae factory
@@LastWatch No question about that. It appears Watchdives is the main company now and Steeldive and Addiesdive are additional brands under Watchdives.
if you look at the macro shot of the 6 o clock marker in the video at 10:39, when you look at the bottom corners of the marker and you compare that with the 29 and 31 minute markers, it does look like there is a small alignment issue.
This may come down to the camera angle, the alignment is ok.
@@LastWatch Addiesdive has a black dial version without branding and logo. I ordered that one. I prefer sterile, semi sterile to some random busy logo

Great fan of Steeldive watches. Got three of them. Best part is they are almost full compatible (except for the bezel) with custom parts for Seiko. You can do your very own unique watch, without the fear of damaging a 300+ € Seiko and still having a great movement on your wrist.
Apart from replacing the overly blue crystal, I'm not sure what else I would change... The bracelet, definitely
It's a worthy alternative
Ah, wow! What a great presentation.👍

Soon to be a Frankenstein-watch
First steeldive I ordered, I love it
Good to hear
Where did you order it from
Steeldiveuk UK
I love this watch, its hard to justify 10x more to have Seiko on the dial but I probably will
@@LastWatch LOVE your logic lol But... it's not just the name, again, for me, it is the dimension. It's that extra 1mm in diameter that makes the Steeldive look and feel better to me.

@@LastWatch It does! Seiko are increasing prices trying to increase margins snd I believe taking advantage of a nostalgia market. Wow, I'm impressed
I’m also impressed as it showed 30-40 days before it would arrive for me. Bought one for $155 on eBay, free fast shipping.
Great review and presentation style.
A lucky accident with a great result, I keep thinking about getting the Seiko, not sure if I can justify paying 10x more money for the same watch
My only and favotite hommage. Seiko deserve to be honoured this way with their pricing:) i'm just not fully confident of WR rating.

Couldn't have put it better myself
Ordered one today at steeldive uk...
I just wish they had the pip at the 12 o’clock bezel marker, for this reason I went with the Heimdallr
My spies tell me that Matthew from Steeldive may be stocking Heimdallr soon
@@LastWatch I bought a King Turtle--not the same but close--so giving the 1970 away to someone who'd appreciate it is actually a great option.
MERGIN? PARNIS?)
We think alike
Wondeerfull! Now only if Alpha-1993 would up scale their own watches a little more. It looks like the back pattern was engraved by machining, but it's probably stamped, so take it off and look at the other side to tell?
I think I will leave it well alone for now
@@LastWatch I'd pay double if it had pierced lugs! :)
No, I would!
I dont mind the AR coating, its a bloody good watch for the money and a fair stand in until I buy the Seiko
Isn’t that an oyster style bracelet and not a Jubilee? Yeah I’ve seen it on watch dives it’s only $99 US, tempted
Slip of the tongue, soz
Thanks for the code. Ordered one in blue.
Let me know how you get on
@@LastWatch ~Ordered on Tuesday and eav and was on my wrist Thursday afternoon.
Got mine from AliExpress. It has the logo on the buckle and the word Steeldive on the clasp.
Where are you based Shaun
Been thinking about getting one of these, but also a regular Turtle is not much more money. I am a bit split about which to pick up.
I have the Turtle why don't you check out the review
Get an authentic Seiko turtle. Yeah, you don't get sapphire or ceramic (unless you go for the "king" turtle) but it's so worth it having the original.
Yes, I have come around to this way of thinking.
I have the green dial version of this watch. Love it
How does it react with the sapphire crystal
@@LastWatch Looks awesome with the sapphire crystal
Just got into Seiko's.
Bought a Turtle last week, loved it so much I started looking at a SPB151.
Had no idea Willard was "homage-worthy".
Ordered a SD1970for my brothers Bday so can have a front row seat at the unboxing.
Definitely getting one for me!
Happy Birthday Bro... I hope yours and your brothers are as good as mine
I have Rolex, Tag & Seiko and I must say, you absolutely cannot go wrong with Seiko’s.
I'm not a fan of Seiko.
I am a fan of Seagull and I have a Sea-gull Ocean Star diver and with a 28800bph high beat movement.
I have had it for 3 years and love it.43mm 13mm thick and
190 grammes on its solid link bracelet and milled clasp.
Well harder than the Willard copy and all in house from Sea-gull.
That looks like a beefy solid watch
@11:45 I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought it was a duck!
It's definitely a duck
