That was what in turn led him to want to learn how to speak and then seek out Ike again to be by his side. He also knew how to read or write and what words meant, but talking wasn’t something he was ever taught until then because his adoptive parents never cared to or they didn’t want to teach him how to potentially talk back or call for help in response to the abuse and verbal assaults. His mentor also saw him as nothing more than something he purchased and could pass his knowledge of magic on to, and apart from speaking the words necessary to spell cast, talking wasn’t considered necessary to teach Soren for everything.
Kyle said in our recent interview that he always wanted the chance to explore Soren more. Nice that he got another chance, especially with his wife directing him.
I'm so glad they committed to wordless Soren, he sounds great and I'm impressed with both VA's. Ayumu Murase is always amazing ofc but I think Kyle also did a good job espe considering how young Soren is. I haven't watched the whole video but the art is gorgeous too

What even bugs me, why they don't want to use other VA who can at least voice a younger/children chara, but just for this occasion. Not sure it because of contract or loyality stuff, but come on IS 🤨

This reminds me of when they showed two different voices for young Ike and adult Ike in a Smash ultimate showcase and I couldn't hear the difference. I can't hear the difference between the three differently aged Ike in FEH. Still love Greg Chun tho

I mean there’s completely different reasons for them being not speaking depending on the Link (afaik none of them have been through what child Soren has, least not to that degree), but I always thought that Link wouldn’t be too out of place as an FE unit.
In the JP FEH they always have actresses playing kid roles for the boys (Soren being the exception apparently because it's his same original male VA, maybe because it's just grunts)

I kinda had preference to Lani. Goofy in some ways yes, but distinct and the ONLY voice actor of the original game to actually reprise her role for FEH. Nearly all the VAs of the original PoR/RD have dropped off the map, whereas in Japanese, they STILL voice their characters. ...but I like Anne's performance, she can play an older Mia just fine I think.
Ike just has great genes, unless you want to say Greil is on Steroids and it somehow leaked into Ike before his birth LOL (RD Ike looks EXACTLY like Greil did! Makes one wonder if upper body strength is important to Greil's fighting style! I mean we also have Zelgius who can wield Alondite AND walk around with that heavy ass armor of his LOL)

He's not shy-He literally doesn't know how to talk. Without getting into spoilers, his birth parents abandoned him, his adoptive mother dispised him and pawned him off to an old sage who taught him magic but didn't care about him as anything beyond a tool. When the sage died and he wandered into a nearby village he understood what people were saying but didn't know how to actually form words himself, and would have starved to death if Ike didn't find him.
His caretakers were extremely abusive towards him and Soren probably wasn’t allowed to question them or anything so for that reason they never taught him how to speak or communicate.

(Ilyana is just some Daein wanderer, Mia they met when she was older). I know these banners bring child versions of heroes but it would've been fitting and really cool to have a younger Titania and Greil in the mix.

Nice insight into him and would tie him more with his Expy Jeritza/Death Knight (Jeritza came off more as while he didn't have Zelgius "cool factor" especially as the Black Knight! He did come off as a more developed characterwise of him)

Well they don't really need to recast for a child voice since it's mostly grunts and Ayumu Murase does a feminine voice effortlessly.

I've played through RD 100% and I still don't agree that kid Ike's voice should be this low. Didn't even like it in the cutscene either

They really need to stop letting Greg Chun do the young versions of his characters. He's a great voice actor but absolutely cannot do boy voices.
