Episode on Street art in Prague would be awesome
Yeah that is a good idea!
Yes please
Yes!
Yes, would love that. Saw so much cool stuff on our last trip, keeping our eye out this summer
Yes, I would very much like that. Good street art would move Prague higher up in my priority list!
There was a red fire extinguisher in the Italy Pavilion at Venice's La Biennale di Venezia in 1993.
But no accompanying black waste bin.
Excellent presentation in Prague.
So you're saying it is a copyright infringement? Or is it sufficiently different?
@@paulgooderham Similar form factor to the extinguisher. But I'd say this is more of a harmless tribute.
A friend of mine forced me to go. I heard the owner and his son talking, they were talking about positioning the heaters in the exhibition in a way that would direct the visitors to the souvenir section. Their only goal is to make more money.
Therefore there's a phrase "Exit through the giftshop." Edit: They say it in the video I replied before that came up.
how shocking in a society built around capitalism as well
What else it should be? The art isn't for free, the rent of the exhibition space isn't for free, nothing is for free.
Unlike every other business?
I probably would visit it too despite the “problems”
Please do a street art episode !!! Even if street art locations change often and the quality declines due to vandalism it would be so awesome to see some original pieces of great street art to have something to look forward to on the next Prague trip !!!
Vandalism is a big part of this culture, this wouldn’t be a good idea
yes!! graffiti and street art in Prague is awesome!
I Was forced to go there during a School Trip, and i hated every second of it.
IDK, for me this just shows how pretentious people are. "We went there, we were happy, we thought it was awesome; then we learned it's fake and retrospectively hate everything about the exhibition..."
@@ThePlacehole TBF, that most people that say they like art. Fuck, even most self professed "artists", especially online, fit that bill.
@@ThePlacehole Well, the difference, just with like alot of art is that the one making the original got the idea and deserves the credit. A copy might looks as good, but its still fake and doesnt credit the first artist. So even if the art is Bankys, I would not enter it because it makes money without Bankys making 1 dollar for it. Its like piracy, I wouldnt buy access to IPTV, tho some random dude becomes $$$ on pirating tv-channels. But I can download pirate movies, if its for free. One is doing it for making money, the other is for spreading free information, there is a big difference.
@@HakanMB I don't mind paying for services, so all intellectual-property thieves belong to the same circle of hell, as it were. But I definitely do not wish to live in some sort of Shrodinger's mindset where all of my enjoyment in life is predicated on having a conclusive proof of originality. If were to hang a painting that I believe to be original Picasso in my flat, I would only do it if I liked it. If I were to learn later that it's actually a replica, I would not tear it down in disgust; it would still be a painting I enjoy. (That's the pretentiousness I was talking about. IMHO, Your world-view should not depend on whether others have approved it.)
@@ThePlacehole The pretentiousness starts with "I want to go see Banksy in an art gallery" ya know Banksy, the street artist.
The subtitle said that the murals were "spay-painted". I somehow knew art students didn't have the balls to do that.
wdym?
@@ToMeK3001pro the subtitles have a spelling error. it should say "spRay-painted" but the subtitles are missing the R so it is "spay-painted" instead. Now "to spay" means "to neuter", "to sterilize", "to castrate" ... like "I spay my pet dog so it won't be able to make baby dogs anymore ... " got it?
@@rumpelpumpel7687 oh ok, my brain autocorrected the comment and I read it "spRay-painted", thx
That kneewall stopping you 100% has that RPG game energy of "a 4" tree fell across the road, this path is blocked".
there's one of these here in Sydney, Australia that is still open! People are so unaware of what Banksy stands for that they assume he's endorsed it, without realising Banksy has always been about making the public aware of injustices and not wanting to profit from it... $45 (27 Euro) for a bunch of fakes is ridiculous, it only takes a few minutes to read online reviews to see if it's fake or not. Whenever I visit a new city anywhere in the world I always search for the main art gallery and it's the first place I visit when I do because it's great to see what a city's residents can offer.
The reviews of this Prague one are mostly positive, it's not easy to find any reviews revealing the truth
Yes please Czech Street Art!!!
I also love you recognise the duality of graff and street art, you can't have the "good" without the "bad"
Honestly giving original banksy work such a high value is more silly to me than a fake exibition like that
🤓
Dork Alert..
@@MackDirt66 why tho? it's legit, banksy is a scam artist
@@shinreilba who is he scamming?
@@MackDirt66 the public. The people who pay. The people who think he has good criticism of society. The govt.
I would love to watch an episode about streetart! I bet you have some of Noriaki's Watcher in Prague, please find it!
"It's a secret for security reasons" 😂😂
Brilliant marketing, especially since Banksy is 100% not taking legal steps because that would expose his identity! 🤑🤑🤑
No, a corporation would do it, not him personally. In particular, he has a company to authenticate his artworks, which is used by real auction houses etc.
@@JohnDlugosz That's nice for potential buyers, I'm sure, but if they want to sue someone who violated Banksy's copyright, they'd have to prove Banksy is actually their client. That involves exposing their identity in court documents, which would then likely become public.
@@Welgeldiguniekalias and Banksy himself would have to provide proof he's actually Banksy :)
@@dagfinissocool No he would not, in the same way he can auction art off at some of the worlds most prestigious auction houses he can also prove the artwork is not is if he chooses to do so.
The fact of the matter is he can't really stop it, in the same way as huge corporations can't really spend time taking out every two bit shyster who copies their products.
If they were making serious money (millions) then it would be different, but it would cost more to sue them than he'd actually recover. (Check out Michael Jordan suing a Chinese Company that stole his likeness, it cost him millions over several years, he won a 30k compensation and the company was told to change the logo)
@@Welgeldiguniekalias Bansky has already sued people because they have use his "art" without asking.
He has sue cities that tried to use his work to raise money for poor people so yeah, I expect everything from this kind of businessman
Just around the corner there is another fake (but sexy) "museum", where I worked selling tickets a few years ago. Half of the items is available on online shops, the other half has been made by the owner and his friends. They just made up a convincing text for the labels, but the most critic visitors will see how fake everything is.
Honestly, when someone goes to something called a "museum of sex" then he deserves to be scammed. 😀
The Sex Machines Museum right?
@@metallumabyssus777 correct
Saw you filming at the Astronomical Clock around 2 weeks ago and didn't want to interrupt. Thanks for the great videos! We loved Prague and will definitely be visiting it again along with the rest of your lovely country. We did go to this exhibition.........
I mean, Banksy usually paints walls. Did anyone really expect that someone brought all the walls to Prague? If the ticket price weren't that outrageous, I'd also go there if I was bored
No, but Bunksy should approve the exhibition and the way how they show his projects (and obviously share the income with him)
@@perperella He paints on other people's buildings... He should be the last one to expect others to wait for his approval.
@@toncek9981 He will get you to court if you don't.
I was recently in Prague and saw this. At first I thought, oh wow...but I thought about it and figured it is not possible. All works of art from Banksy is usually presented as a mystery. Thank you for confiming my suspicions!😎
Any exhibit at DOX or Kunsthalle will be more interesting. The Kafka themed show at DOX right now is quite enjoyable. I'd definitely watch a video about street art in Prague. (My list of things to do for the next Prague trip includes a walking/transit tour of Pasta Oner murals.)
I would love to watch you guys do more art. I know many won't watch it, but there is at least a few that are interested.
Literally in Prague right now after finding your videos a few months back. I thought it would be funny if I happened to see you around while I was here, and then I literally walked past you yesterday around Old Town (I can't remember where exactly). Thank you for bringing this incredible city to my attention. It truly is beautiful!
Scam alert question: When we visited Prague a couple of years ago, we wanted to visit the castle. On our way there, we walked by the entrance to the Zahrada Na valech garden at the bottom of the hill. Next thing I knew, my boyfriend paid some random "ticket guy" so that we could walk through the garden to the top of the hill instead of going around the block. I'm convinced this was a scam and that the garden is free to walk through. Can you confirm?
An Honest Review of Street Art in Prague would be so meta 🤣
I've actually visited that Banksy exhibition in Moscow. I think it was okay, and the organizers didn't really deny that the exhibition wasn't endorsed by Banksy. And yes, I doubt there were original works in there.
What's interesting is that the exhibition was held at the Tretiyakov's gallery, a respectable museum =)
Watched so many of your videos before visiting Prague - great insight & helped us avoid scams and maximise our trip. Prague is a brilliant city!
The fire extinguisher and trash can is amazing
thanks for the honest review and honest video 😊
Hilarious! 😂 Great Video! 🙏 greetings from Vienna!
Oh I would love to see the next episode of art in Prague! Please do it!
I’ve lived in Prague practically my whole life and I walked past this place so many times on my way to Popocafepetl (great bar by the way) and I just instinctively thought that Banksy doesn’t ever do stuff like that. I never bothered to check but It’s nice to know that my instinct was right!
Please do a video on interesting street arts in Prague. Love what you are doing. Keep it up.
Y'all are awesome!
Last year, when I visited Bologna, there was a Banksy exhibition. The guy selling the tickets told us from the start that there were no original pieces. He said it was an omage to Banksy.
You mean homage?
@@arandombard1197 yes
Absolutely interested in a new episode about Prague street art, I'm eager to discover it in your next video !
Right in the heart... ...also make a Prague Streetart episode!
Well given that Banksy nicked a lot of his style and some ideas from other artists (Vive Blek le Rat!) I like the fact that these guys have set up a fake Banksy exhibit! 😂
Next you'll say Warhol was a thief and Picasso was a philosopher
Thank you for this video, I was going to this exhibition tomorrow.
Yes please give us the best recommendations for a street art walk! Me and my partner often travel over New Year and it is common to have most of the places closed on 1st of January. So that's our street art walk day. Liverpool had some amazing stuff! Berlin obviously has their wall among other things... I'd love to do something similar when I finally get to visit Prague.
A whole series of "Instead of [Tourist Trap (or something)], see [Organic/local alternative]" or something similar would be interesting as a whole^^
I'd love to see an art episode!!!
I live in Bristol, UK. Banksy's home town. There is nothing like that here, tourists can take guided tours and see his surviving originals on the walls, there are a few in real museums as well. I'm not a fan of Banksy personally but I like the way the city celebrates the street art culture that he came from and was influenced by him
i'm in bristol too. anyone who went to the museum when he took it over briefly will know a real pop up banksy exhibition from a fake
I guess clip art is art, too.
We have been in Prague this weekend, I saw the "museum" and i was very tempted to try it. I am so glad we finally did not have the time to enter.
Yes to more ART❤
I have never heard of Banksy until now
The child with the heart balloon is like a myspace era picture.
Not really a scam in my view. It's an exibition about a street artist, most visitors understand that he has not come there to make the pieces and what's on display is replicas to show a collection of his work to the general public.
Going to the gift shop and wondering if they have books written by Banksy himself is ridiculous. If you go to Tate you will find Tate produced books about the exhibitions, artists and paintings/installations on display. That's how it works.
Doing this without his permission makes it a scam in my opinion.
No, museums usually sell books written by experts on the art or artists in the exhibition.
Also, they display work which they have purchased or which has been donated. Not prints
Admission to Tate Modern is free, Tate Modern exhibits original works instead of dowloaded jpegs and artists will likely get their royalty share from any book sales.
Quite ridiculous to compare a well organised and renowned museum to a tourist trap like this.
Because of you we discovered Krištof Kintera at DOX. It was much more fun than even the real banksy. Thank you 🙏
With the fakes popping up, I feel privileged to have gone to a genuine Banksy exhibition in Bristol, UK a long time ago now
What or who is Banksy?
Watch “exit trough the gift shop” and see that Baksy himself don’t give a flyyyyyyying F! About any of this (and nobody else should either).
The broom and bucket "art", was actually a sign for the janitor's storage closet.
r/woooosh
I would love an episode on the street art of Prague I hope to finally make it there next spring.
Speaking as an older couple we spend a lot of time in Angoulême doing a tour of our own trying to find them. It brought us to parts of the city we never would have found. That would be a cool tour in Prague
I'd love to see an episode about street art! Could you make a street art map? Maybe with some "hidden gems" shown in the video, but not marked on the map. We'd have to find them ourselves, like your location markers ❤
Yes, make an episode about street art in Prague... So much cool stuff to see.
Fun fact I was near a Banksy in London so thought I'd check it out. Couldn't get to it because there were bullshit scam stalls in the way covering the wall...
There's one in Montréal but after seing your video well...i won't go! Thanks guys.
2:35 They even misspelled "inspired" lol
Meanwhile at Dox you have Jan Švankmajer, David Lynch, and Jake and Dinos Chapman.
I went there recently and it was such a nice surprise to be suddenly standing in front of Lynch's art.
@@FlashheadX They honestly get some world class exhibitions. In London or Paris there would be adverts for the current Kafkaesque exhibition all over the place.
Yes to art related episodes!
Street art vid sounds awesome
Guess what! That exhibit is having a world tour! It's having a Exhibit here in our country!
I looooove the graffiti around Prague and Czechia as a whole - would love to see an episode on street art here
I have more original works by Banksy then they have. Planning a exhibition next year. Keep you posted if interested.
Been quite tired of 'banksy' for about 13 years. Fair play for ripping off those prolonging the phenomenon
I would be great to see street art, art galaries and museums guide
Same with the banksy expo in amsterdam.. I was like: what am I paying for?
I can't believe it .... I thought it was real when I visited in October. I was a bit gullible. Great video !
I like Your epizodes about art or street art. It is strange to hear that is nobody watching them. Nice this video. If i was there i think i would thought that was real originals exibition. :))
more art, more!
Just watched this video and decided to look up Bankskey and noted this same show will be in Toronto Canada in May. Ridiculous ticket prices for fake show.
14€ for a fake exhibition without the author permission done in a church. You got to love Prague!!! I do.
Another episode about the scammers from Kluci z Prahy. Keep going guys 😉
Ano, yes I would like to see street art from Prague. Please recommend some places to see some. I regularly visit Prague and it would definitely check out the stuff you recommended
2:37 "inspried" by Banksy
Man, I was so stoked when we were in Prague and I saw the Banksy exhibition sign - luckily Banksy has pest control so legitimate Banksy stuff is easy to identify - those exhibitions are unfortunately all not associated with him whatsoever.
Yes, love art!!!❤😊❤
Yes! More art episodes!
Yes! Show us street art of Prague.
I think if they were actually honest it would be better for them from every standpoint.
The exhibition looked pretty well done and I can think of a lot worse ways to spend 13 Euros.
I would love to see an episode on street art in Prague or the Czech Republic in general, especially older stuff.
Thanks again for a great upload.
Last year, we went to "National Gallery Prague, Trade Fair Palace". Very impressive - recommended.
I would love to watch an art episode. We saw some great art when in Prague and I am sure we missed much more.
"Unfortunately, you can't go there."
Why not?
Unauthorized entry at an exhibition, (unauthorized by the artist) of art (unauthorized by the state) - I'd say that's the whole point.
I would watch the art, I didn’t even know you made such videos, I know you of uncovering scams and such
There was one in Frankfurt for the past year or so too, just closed last week.
Noted; don't waste money on this when I visit in a few days. Thank you so much, guys, you rock! @Honest Guide
Yes please!
Art episode!!!
We want an episode about street art in Prague. It would be amazing. Greetings from Romania
Would be great to see an episode on street art, as good as your previous ep on graffiti.
I have been watching your channel for a few years now, and I am still waiting for a full episode on Kafka please!
Banksy or not, interesting way to spend some time to see the building and "art" why not? People go to see plenty of exhibitions only based on reality. As for making money, good business idea , same pics so who cares who did them, Banksy staying anonomous means he/she can hardly complain. By the way, I love your channel...Brilliant work, thanks.
Love Lock Art.
Would love to watch a street art in Prague episode!
Why isn't Banksy suing them? How can you fake someone's artwork and profit from that?
Probably because he would need to show his face in court and he would not want his real name to be found out!
Street art episodeeee !!!!! ❤❤❤
camera wasn't even connected lol
Same exhibition in Kraków, Poland - lots of copies of Banksy's art.
Dime in the algorithm bucket
I agree that they've could have made something much more interesting with that church - projecting the window mural on the wall was an interesting idea, they should have leaned more into that aspect. I've seen a few of these Banksy "replica" art shows. Most of them are crass cash-grabs, but there was a German touring exhibit a while ago that at least made a bit of an effort with actual wall paintings and 3d models, and they were honest about it all being replicas.
please do an episode about street art! I think it was the same exhibition I visited in Leipzig two years ago. To be honest: it was interesting and it helped me to understand the facination about Banksy a bit better. BUT: it is too expensive to just see copies.
Any chance you can do one on places to stay I tried to find an AirBNB room in Prague and there wasn’t anything under 100 like there’s some weird shortage if you try to book anything in the next month when I was 2 months out lotta places but just do one on like not having to be in a hostel with 7 other people. Is there too many hostels? Is there a shortage / regulation for AirBNB whats going on? The weird thing about most hostels too is the private rooms are usually way more than a hotel like hundreds of Euros.
