This song has ended, but the story never ends... A heartfelt reaction ladies. Watching you take this journey has been amazing, but there is so much more still to come!
This is, to this day, my favorite Who episode of all time. And this reaction from both of you was the perfect fit Edit: I forgot to add, Wilf's line on the ship "I won't stop you sir, but is this it?" is quite possibly the most unnoticed sign of his loyalty, and one of the biggest
I've seen this episode so many times and it still brings massive amounts of tears. As I said for the last part, Bernard Cribbins and David Tennant had such amazing, heartfelt chemistry. That scene where the Doctor's like, "I could do so much more!" just really gets to me as I've had a lot of things so really bad for me through my life, especially with jobs falling apart. So I've had a lot of those moments. But I absolutely loved how they spent so much time saying goodbye to all the companions. It's actually also a goodbye to the entire era of DW as there was a massive change behind the scenes with a new production team. Anyway, looking forward to seeing you continue these reactions.
Paula's laugh at the first set of knocks then the realisation kicking literally broke my hearts 😭 I don't know if I missed your reaction to the weeping angels reference or if you edited it out
So, Paula, now that you've seen the entire run of the 10th Doctor, when you think of David Tennant is the first thing that comes to your mind STILL Barty Crouch Jr? :D
Katrrina not being able to look at Paula before the episode knowing what's coming, then we have Katrina in floods of tears at the end and Paula relatively happy. I've heard some people complain that 10's regeneration was too dragged out but I've always felt it was handled well.
Ok, Paula. Here's my secret about the series as done by RTD. Each main villain is a call back to a major villain of the Doctor's based on the new season number. That is, the first season had the First Doctor's most notable enemy. The second season had the Second Doctor's most notable villain, etc. First season villain Daleks 1st Doctor's most notable villain Second season villain Cybermen 2nd Doctor's most notable villain Third season villain The Master 3rd Doctor's most notable villain Fourth season villain Davros 4th Doctor's most notable villain Fifth season villain Rassillon 5th Doctor's most notable villain (The Five Doctors) The thing is, I figured it out by the end of season two so I knew who the rest of them were going to be. Sooo, what do you think?
"I wont stop you sir, but is this it?" I think that's a very overlooked line. Hes on a spaceship, with 2 alien races. And hes not trying to mess with controls, trying to turn the ship away. He asked "is this it?" Passchendaele, the Somme, Verdun, the paratroopers over Normandy, the troops at Normandy, the Soviets at stalingrad, the slaves in the rebellion of Spartacus, "is this it?"
The Doctor, outside the cage, saying how unfair it all is. Wilfred, on the inside, knowing that if he touches literally any button, he could kill himself and spare the Doctor. And he doesn't do it.
Brilliant reaction ladies! I will say what I really like is the stark contrast between Paula and Katrina's reactions. You can see which moments affect Katrina the hardest as she braces herself, and you see the opposite end of the spectrum: with Paula seeing the story for the first time and that initial impact it has. Thus ends my favorite era, but Matt Smith straight up rocks it. It's pretty much the cycle of Dr Who. You guys have one of the best reaction channels, keep up the good work!
Mikey's character development was amazing. I also love Martha's arc from being one lady that pines to become her own woman. Wilfred is fantastic. This is a great finale of an era. Between the series finale and the specials, this was a great way to say goodbye to Ten. Now we enter the era of my New Who Doctor: Eleven.
BTW, "Wilfred" aka Bernard Cribbins was actually in the Parachute Regiment, so when you see him wearing his maroon woolly hat with a badge, that's the badge of the Airborne troops
I've been both dreading and so excited for you to reach this point because I just knew that the longer I watched Katrina, the more I'd end up sobbing my eyes out. And of course, that's exactly what happened. I'm so glad that Paula is looking forward to seeing Matt Smith's Doctor and not just assuming she'll hate him. Can't wait!
You two always break my heart with the waterworks! Though, in a way, seeing these shows again through your eyes (dry or not) makes me feel everything about these shows again in a fresh new way. Thanks for that!
And now the Matt Smith era begins! I loved some of the story arcs with Tennant, but I personally love Matt Smith as the Doctor a little more. I think the bigger budge does help though because the quality is a huge step up from early Tennant episodes. It's hard to truly pick a favorite Doctor because everyone has different things they prefer, but I feel Matt Smith's personality as the Doctor is just such a great fit and that he has some great character building.
Personally, I didn't like effect the Doctor had on Amy, and the way she kept calling him 'Raggedy Man'. I feel like I'm just starting to like 11 in series 7B with Clara, but then I don't like how Clara is with 12. For me, the quality and the writing is at its best series 2 - 4. Series 4 still feels brand new 12 years later.
Nine will be always my favorite Doctor and his relationship with Rose one of the best of the entire show. Twelve comes really close, but I really really don't like Clara and unfortunately she is there for most of his run. Ten grew up as annoying for me during the years, especially because of his self centric attitude with Martha (one of my favorite companion) and here with Wilf. Eleven it's ok, especially in the beginning, while in the end he becomes more and more annoying also, very childish. Love him with Amy and Rory tho.
@@10thdoctor15 Goes to show how subjective it is because 11/Amy and 12/Clara are perhaps my favourite doctor/companion parings (Especially 12 and Clara). Agree that Season 4 is amazing though and still feels very fresh and is highly rewatchable and doesn't have bad episode.
I am officially requiring 10to-11th Regeneration-song to be played when I die, and no one will ever feel this like I do every time I hear it. Murray Gold
Everytime I get to the end of Tennant’s series’ in these RUclips watches it’s gutting. Such brilliant TV. Will always be my favourite but Smith is great so more good TV to come!!
That scene... the Doctor standing on the gangway above Marth and Mickey... Is absolutely a reference to the 4th Doctor's finale, and the "Watcher" who similarly stands silent in the distance...
One Doctor story ends and another Doctor story starts, we will miss you David tennant and can't what to meet you matt smith. Hope you galifra girls have fun on this new journy with the new Doctor.
Fun fact: When the Ood were "singing him to his sleep" the song that was playing in the soundtrack was not random vocalizations. It was Latin they were singing in. You can YT search for a version of it with subtitles if you want to hear and understand the whole song, it's really beautiful. The title, "Vale Decum" translates to "Farewell Ten." I loved the song so much that it was my primary reason for taking Latin for my language requirement at Uni.
As it's the end of an era (the Tenth Doctor's Era, but also the end of the Russell T Davies Era), now would be a good time to do a Who retrospective, ranking seasons, episodes, companions, aliens, if you're up for it.
"I think that is supposed to be the doctors mom" Horrifying when you notice they are "Covering their eyes like the weeping Angels of old".. doctors mom, maybe.. mother of all Weeping Angels? Terrifying!
Whenever a character says they'll "never" do something, it's guaranteed that in a very short time they'll do exactly waht they said they'd never do. Still one hell of a shock to see the Doctor pick up the gun, though, and shows how desperate he feels the situation has become. The mystery woman is his mother, but there were two dissenters, and we never saw the face of the second. His dad? or close relative? Susan?? Wilk didn't just knock four times, he knocked four times, four times. And it's absolutely typical that the Doctor would give his life not to defeat the Time Lords, not to save Earth, but to save one old man - even while raging at how unfair it is he knows he's going to do it. You can tell how much he "didn't wanna go" by the way the Tardis reacted; being telepathic, it reflected his feelings. Nine went to Ten almost gladly, having saved Rose; Ten went down fighting it all the way, and the control room got completely trashed. [or course, on a practical level, this leaves the next team to redesign the interior]
I always believed the mysterious woman as the Doctor's wife given that when asked, he glances towards Donna (the bride). That's just what I took from how the scene was constructed.
8:18 Yep. The Time Lords were not to be trifled with. They forced the second Doctor (Patrick Troughton) to regenerate into the 3rd version. (Jon Pertwee, not in the video): ruclips.net/video/XjIZPl3ABXo/видео.html
Just for the record, STILL. NOT. GINGER! Also anyone want a free heart? I don't want it anymore. Ugh. This one kills me every time. Addendum: Forgot to mention knowing the answer as to why the Doctor is the last Timelord and knowing the horrible choice he was forced to make of killing his own people or letting the entire universe be destroyed makes the scene in season one with 9 and the tree lady hurt that much more. When she touches his arm and says "I just wanted to say how very sorry I am." And the doctor cries the fact someone was giving him empathy for the horror he had to endure and give him a moment of release. That's the one thing about this show as Katrina shows in her reactions this show is even more brutal when rewatching it.
I really like this story. It's not perfect, but the performances of Bernard Cribbins, John Simm (at least in this second part), Timothy Dalton and especially David Tennant himself elevate this story to something very enjoyable indeed. The Master's resurrection doesn't make much sense, but it doesn't bother me. He's always found ways to come back from certain death and usually there's no explanation given. I also enjoy Simm's crazy performance in this story and the desperation he manages to convey. You almost pity the Master because he's fallen so far from what he used to be. It also makes sense because of what Lucy did to him. The two substances being put together created a weird chemical reaction. That's what gave the Master these weird abilities that were simultaneously draining his life force as well as making him crazier and more powerful than ever before. He needed to eat so much because his life force was constantly being drained, which to put it simply made him hungry. Initially, the Master turned everyone into himself just because he's insane, but later on he developed his "master plan". It was the Master who figured out the noise in his head must be some sort of a signal and realised by duplicating himself 6 billion times over, he had greatly amplified the signal. Then, he set out to find the source. That was his "master plan". Bringing the Master and the Time Lords back is also really clever because they represent what the Doctor was so close to becoming at the end of the last story. The moment the Doctor explains that he chooses to remember the Time Lords of old and not the one's at the end of the war is really poignant and tragic. It reveals just how much pain and denial the Doctor lives with post time war. It also shows just how impossible of a situation the Doctor was in during the Time War, stuck between the Daleks and the Time Lords. He had no choice except to destroy both. The Time Lords had become so desperate, corrupted and evil that they were willing to rip apart the time vortex, which would destroy everything and ascend to become beings of consciousness alone! It was also the Time Lords, who implanted a signal in the Master's mind, which drove him insane (they did indeed change time and created a bootstrap paradox because the Master was never as crazy in the classic series and they only found out about the signal by looking into the future) just so they could escape. The time lords were simply manipulating the Master for their own selfish gains. They used him so that they could come back, but they no longer required the Master or his "Master race", once they were on the cusp of their victory. Of course, the Master simply wanted the glory of resurrecting the Time Lords for himself too and wanted to become Gallifrey's president. In the end, their hubris cost them dearly and destroyed all of them. Although, I guess the Master redeemed himself at the end by saving the Doctor and realising how much he had been used and manipulated by the Time Lords.
I remember watching David change it was so hard to accept Matt for a few episodes I love how the show teaches you to accept who people are regardless of appearance
Of course everyone loves Wilfred, he is such an amazing character that was a master class in acting by Bernard Cribbins. But what I really love about this is the subtlety behind 10's end. It could have been so easy to end Tennant's run on a bang, and it would have fit the way 10 was. 10- was so much more of a action Doctor, and so it would have made plenty of sense to have him go out on a huge bang. But they didn't. It ended quietly with 4 simple knocks by such a simple and unassuming man. In the end it was Wilfred standing there having gone into the station to save another person he saw in danger. It was Wilfred just doing what he could to help his fellow man while gods fought close by. And I really believe that was why 10 decided to do it. There in that glass cage........was truly a person worth saving. There trapped in certain death......was a good man. Something the doctor knew all to well was a rare and precious thing he couldn't see destroyed. I absolutly love that this, was how 10 went out. He got to see such a beautiful example of the very best of us. I'm a 47 year old retired soldier, and I cry like a little girl every time I see Wilfred saying goodbye in the garden.
all these seasons this is one of my favorite endings. the gramps and doctor speech on the ship is the best. welcome to map smith. is it me or the week apart for the vids feel like a month.
Did you count the handkerchiefs you used in this show? It would help me to realise how many i used myself. Would be funny to have a picture of the pile of all the handkerchiefs used up. Thank you for another great and emotional reaction from you two precious ladies.
Tennant's "I could've done so much more" speech is incredible. The Doctor is shouting at the universe if that makes sense. Remember, the Doctor was told he was going to die in "Planet of the Dead".All this time he's had time to think about that and prepare himself. He's delayed it and fought against it, but throughout this story you slowly see him accept it. First he thinks it's the Master, then the Time Lords return and he thinks his end will certainly come at the hands of either of those two. At the end, when the president tells him "you'll die with me" he simply replies, "I Know" and closes his eyes and prepares himself. Out of nowhere, he's saved by the Master. He survives, after saving the universe from the Time Lords and the Master. For a moment, he allows himself to become incredibly happy. The prophecy was wrong, he's still alive. Then, he hears the dreaded four knocks and he realises that it was Wilf all along. He has to come to terms with the fact that he won't die in battle saving the universe from the Master or the Time Lords; he'll die saving one ordinary, unimportant old man. After everything he's been through and he's lost, he thought his end would be better than this! However, it's the Doctor's duty to save people. no matter how big, small or "unimportant" they are. He realises he's bought into his own myth and become too self important, that final "lived too long" says so much! After ranting and raving, he finally calms down and happily accepts his fate. He's the Doctor, the man who saves people. As he says, it's his honour to give up his life for a man like Wilf. The tenth Doctor finally overcomes his arrogance in the end and refuses to become the Time Lord victorious. This Doctor still feels like his journey is incomplete though, he "could've done so much more". That's why his final line, "I don't wanna go" makes sense, although I can understand why some people don't like it because they wanted Tennant to go out on a happier note. The final goodbyes are excellent if also a little bit self indulgent. RTD and Tennant had earned it though because they made a show that people thought was a relic of the past into a massive success. This era deserved to be sent off in such a way. My personal favourite goodbye is probably the one where the Doctor visits Joan Redfern's granddaughter. I love how the Doctor wants to make sure she was happy after he left. he realises it wasn't fair what happened to her. Of course, the fact that she has a granddaughter gives it away that she was eventually able to move on even if she always continued to love John Smith. That's why it's so brilliant, when Joan's granddaughter asks him the same question and the Doctor is unable to answer. We all know why. He's lost so much since then. The Doctor's at the end of his life, but all of his friends have left. The Doctor would've lived a happier and more fulfilled life had he chosen to stay as John Smith. He wouldn't have to go through the pain and loss that comes with being the last of the Time Lords.
The fact that the Doctor isn't perfect makes his story great. The fact that he is conflicted makes the story great. The fact that despite all that, that he gave it all up for 1 person, it really tells an impactful story. People take different meanings all the time. All the doctors make "arrogant" comments. But the fact is that they are all inherently good, and it's never in question.
If you ever watch the Sarah Jane Adventures, you'd eventually find out that The Doctor at this point didn't just visit his companions, he visited ALL his companions that he could, including all the classic ones.
Damn, Katrina got more emotional than Paula and she's already seen this. It really goes to show that episodes like this can be harder to watch when you know what's coming.
It was so devastating the first time I saw this... we were binge watching the series and had to just stop for a week because we weren't ready. For me, it took time to get used to Matt Smith, but his first two seasons are an exciting ride.

This ending was like Return of the King, it takes it's time cos what a hell of ride, and it feels like you've been on journey yourself.
Katrrina not being able to look at Paula before the episode knowing what's coming, then we have Katrina in floods of tears at the end and Paula relatively happy. I've heard some people complain that 10's regeneration was too dragged out but I've always felt it was handled well.
Sad fact William Hughes who played the young Master passed away last year in Greece aged 20 RIP William Hughes
Ok, Paula. Here's my secret about the series as done by RTD. Each main villain is a call back to a major villain of the Doctor's based on the new season number. That is, the first season had the First Doctor's most notable enemy. The second season had the Second Doctor's most notable villain, etc.
First season villain Daleks 1st Doctor's most notable villain
Second season villain Cybermen 2nd Doctor's most notable villain
Third season villain The Master 3rd Doctor's most notable villain
Fourth season villain Davros 4th Doctor's most notable villain
Fifth season villain Rassillon 5th Doctor's most notable villain (The Five Doctors)
The thing is, I figured it out by the end of season two so I knew who the rest of them were going to be. Sooo, what do you think?
Technically, the villain in The Five Doctors was Borusa, and Rassilon stopped him.
I have seen this episode a dozen times and still cry everytime I see it. Even on reactions like this.
Things end and that's always sad but thats good because things begin again and that's always happy
Still sad though 🥺😢
We find out in "The Death of The Doctor" (Sara Jane Adventures) that he went to the Amazon and said goodbye to Jo Grant.
Can't wait!
Wilfred Mott is the best companion ever! And I love Matt Smith! Very excited for the Eleventh Doctor and all his adventures.
You two always break my heart with the waterworks! Though, in a way, seeing these shows again through your eyes (dry or not) makes me feel everything about these shows again in a fresh new way. Thanks for that!
Best reaction I've seen to this episode. Wilf's kiss and salute goodbye still brings tears to my eyes.
I seen this so many times and I still cry as hard as I did the first time round when this first aired.
You wonderful, wonderful human beings. So kind. Most importantly kind.
I know it's been eluded to that the woman is the Doctor's mother, but I can also seeing it that she's his Granddaughter, Susan.
Thanks for an awesome video ladies, if you don’t cry watching that I don’t think you have a soul LOL
That gets me every time that’s for sure.
What a journey 😔 it's been a pleasure to share it with the two of you! And now we jave the entirety of Matt Smith's run to go through... Whew!!
They made it so hard for Matt Smith coming after that regeneration.
FYI, The 10th Doctor went and visited ALL his previous companions before regenerating. 11 says so in Sarah Jane Adventures.
Of course he did, RTD wrote the SJA.
I love the look on people's faces when Eleven shows up. I'm crying my heart out but still
Loved watching that with you! I cannot even count how many times I’ve watched Who but when it’s towards the end it always gets me!!
As it's the end of an era (the Tenth Doctor's Era, but also the end of the Russell T Davies Era), now would be a good time to do a Who retrospective, ranking seasons, episodes, companions, aliens, if you're up for it.
Misery loves company. Thank you for guiding us through 9 and 10 so far, Gallifrey Gals!
This one is gonna get emotional…
"I think that is supposed to be the doctors mom"
Horrifying when you notice they are "Covering their eyes like the weeping Angels of old".. doctors mom, maybe.. mother of all Weeping Angels?
Welcome to the era of my favorite Doctor! He will TOTALLY grow on you!
MarkReactor ! I am sooo hoping that he’s my fave too
The writing is terrible from Series 5-10
JustSomeRandomGuy Online I’ll agree to disagree.
@@justsomerandomguyonline1144 About as far below 1-4 as Van Statten was from the stars.
8:18 Yep. The Time Lords were not to be trifled with. They forced the second Doctor (Patrick Troughton) to regenerate into the 3rd version. (Jon Pertwee, not in the video):
ruclips.net/video/XjIZPl3ABXo/видео.html
Hello to my doctor! I can't wait to see this journey! Still miss 10 too
Just for the record, STILL. NOT.
And then they kind of messed it up by bringing the Master back, not explaining it, and then explaining it long after anyone cared.
@@ripleyjlawman.3162 *SPOILERS*
I fell in love immediately with 11 in those last few seconds on my first watch
I remember watching David change it was so hard to accept Matt for a few episodes I love how the show teaches you to accept who people are regardless of appearance
This episode never fails to get me... as great as the next doctor is.. I consider Tennant MY doctor and “I don’t wanna go” was mutual
It's such a small scene, but Jessica Hynde's shallow breaths before she looks at the Doctor, kills me every single time. She's a phenomenal actress.
Aww bless, no tears with Matt Smith's Doctor... No chance, plenty more to come.
10:56 That flash of a smile, and then it hits Paula.
Dam onion cutting ninjas got me again😭😭
"I don't think I'm going to hate Matt Smith." Pretty sure you won't. He's my favorite for a reason. :)
@Scotty Bee 🖕
@Thomas Meehan He's a troll. He constantly posts spoilers and then accuses me of copying my comments from wiki. All he deserves is my 🖕.
I've seen this so many times...and you got me tearing up again dammit!!! You break my hearts... wait...hearts? 😮
If you ever watch the Sarah Jane Adventures, you'd eventually find out that The Doctor at this point didn't just visit his companions, he visited ALL his companions that he could, including all the classic ones.
Of course he did, RTD wrote that story!
And now it's time for one last bow, like all your other lives. 10's hour has ended now, it's time for 11 to rise.
Damn, Katrina got more emotional than Paula and she's already seen this. It really goes to show that episodes like this can be harder to watch when you know what's coming.
Right in the feels! Great episode
It was so devastating the first time I saw this... we were binge watching the series and had to just stop for a week because we weren't ready. For me, it took time to get used to Matt Smith, but his first two seasons are an exciting ride.
In between the final Tennant episode and an upcoming ST: TNG, you two probably went through a lot of tissues. I can't say it enough, I love watching both shows through your eyes.
so many tears
You really had me to try surviving a friday without your Who-reaction :( I demand 2 videos this friday !!!! :)
WILFRED MOTT is an anagram of TIMELORD WTF
Sad news, Bernard (Wilf) Cribbins has passed. 90-odd, though.
Seeing him grab a gun is odd but that's how serious and scared he was of the Galeryens
Katrina: "There's nothing I can discuss."
I can't tell if that's kind, cruel, or just a surrender to letting Paula experience it for herself. I know I would have been tempted to discuss a lot but then the reaction video would never happen. Anyway, my gut reaction is to call you a badass for refusing to spoil anything and move on.
Love this episode. I always tear up during it. But I am psyched that you two are about to start my favorite Doctor.

Ten shall always be my favourite
painful reminder that rose met the future doctor before he died saving her
I've been looking forward to this all week, and it was worth the wait!
Okay, so it finally happened and it didn't disappoint. At least there should be quite a few eps to go before I need to break out the tissues again. LOL (no spoilers). I'm looking forward to seeing what Paula thinks of Eleven. You guys are great.
Quite a lot of episodes, the only emotional scene since this episode, is when the Doctor calls the Brigadier.
Imagine if whittaker's doctor was written as well as this
