Putting this video together was a really frustrating experience, primarily because of how much I had to use the Autel Nano+. Small little issues popped up while trying to obtain example clips that I didn’t even mention in this video which led to a clunky experience flying the drone. In short - save some money and buy the Mini 3 Pro. It’s way better.

I shoot alot of low light videography/photography. I own both the Mavic 3 Pro & Nano+, and IMO the Nano+ blows the Mavic 3 Pro out of the park with its superior low light performance. The Nano+ is on another level to RGGB sensors for low light performance.

@@bobmarkee6859 yes the Mini 3 Pro is good in low light, but the Nano+ is on another level & far superior for low light performance.

  • @ozstrayapanoramas8610
    @ozstrayapanoramas8610 2 года назад +23

In terms of camera capability, there is a big difference between these 2 drones.
The RYYB filter on the Nano+ produces more detail (not sharpness), more dynamic range & alot better low light capability than the RGGB filter on the Mini 3. The 50mp images from the Nano+ are more detailed than the 48mp images from the Mini 3.
Given this reviewer is well recognized as a DJI product influencer, it is very convenient (more like deliberate) that he didn’t mention no geofencing on the Nano+, or perform a low light comparison, which are very well known major strengths of the Nano+.
Contrary to this reviewer's comment that "the jury is out on low light performance", the Nano+ has been proven time & time again to have the best low light performance of any consumer drone worldwide.
It could also be argued Autel’s Skylink transmission is better than Occusync 3.
Given these Nano+ benefits are not mentioned, this video doesn't have much creditability as a balanced review.
Image & transmission capability aside the Mini 3 Pro is a far more polished & capable drone.

What does mean no geofence? Who is in need of no geofence? Isn’t there a reason for geofence? Hobbyist eventually don’t even realise there’s geofence because their flight plan is away from airfields/airports and people don’t intend to fly inside restricted area’s? Is there someone who can reliable confirm Autel Skylink is respecting the CE wireless standard? Some mesurement says they don’t change between CE and FCC. The transmission is leagally bound by restrictions in addition we have to accept to fly inside VLOS. Who is in need to break thorugh this regulations? After 2023 the European drone regulations requests all this C classifications. I really hope Autel will take care of that. Otherwise the camera quality is great. I absolutely agree when they got the award "best drone besides DJI".....

You forgot to mention one tiny little bit of information. The DJI products are hamstringed by the Nanny system that DJI is forcing on you. There are many instances where it won't let you fly for no apparent reason. The Autel has no Nanny system and relies on you to do do the right thing and follow the rules. Imagine you buy a new car and it is limited to 80 mph. Wouldn't THAT rub you the wrong way? Yep, that's DJI.

I'm not a famous RUclips influencer like Billy Kyle BUT I have to set the record straight. I've owned both the Nano+ and Mini 3 Pro. The Nano+ has a very slightly sharper image, both during the day and at night. Low light performance is very good for both. Where the Nano+ is better is in it's control transmission over a 2km distance and in it's landing accuracy; usually within a foot everytime I do a RTH. The only reason I have the Mini 3 Pro now is that I own a RC Pro controller (for my Mavic 3) and I only need the one controller for both drones. Lastly, the precision of the RC Pro is far superior to the toylike Autel controller and of course the Mini 3 Pro's excellent handling even in windy conditions, as well as it's tracking capabilities.

Thing is that the image from Autel Nano is not sharper. It’s plain over sharpened. DJI has a tendency to oversharpen the image out of their drones which is largely detrimental to the image quality. They have actually listened to the user feedback and now offered sharpness setting where you can disable it in camera or even boost it to the unnatural level of nano.

I’m well versed in obtaining unlocking permissions when I’m able. But sometimes it takes more time than others, and I’ve had times where I could unlock easily one day and couldn’t unlock other days.

With all due respect, it's no secret that the Nano+ has several issues and still hasn't gotten all of its promised features a year later. Autel fans have the rosiest rose colored when it comes to the Nano+. You all want to focus on the one or two slight improvements the Nano+ offers and ignore the glaring shortcomings. Not to mention that, up until a few weeks ago, the Nano+ cost around twice the Mini 3 Pro.
Besides, he literally said both transmission systems were good. He prefers O3, you prefer Autel's system, cool. If you want to ignore the absolute shit show of Dynamic Track and the other problems that have plagued the Nano+ since it's release, that's fine but to question someone else's integrity because you don't like his conclusions is ridiculous. Any objective person with zero prior knowledge of the two platforms would reach the same conclusion if presented with these facts. Period.
Autel has historically produced drones ostensibly a half step "better" in a category or two, than a current DJI product, for more money, only to be beaten shortly after by the next DJI example that typically costs less money. Examples around. Phantom 3- Autel XStar Premium- Phantom 4/Pro- Autel going out of business for a time. Mavic Pro- Autel Evo- Mavic 2 Pro- Evo 2 Pro- Mavic 3. Mini- nothing- Mini 2- Nano+- Mini 3 Pro. Air 2- nothing- Air 2s- Autel Lite+- Mavic 3 Classic- (also Air 3 in April). Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual- Evo 2 Enterprise Dual- Mavic 2 Enterprise Advance- nothing- Mavic 3 Enterprise/Thermal. Etc, etc, etc.

@ssb73q He also mentioned there are periodic sales. The MSRP on the Nano+ is $950. Although just a few weeks ago it was a lot more than that! Some guys dropped almost $1500 on a Nano+ kit. Even so, you are doing exactly what I said, you're cherry picking specific items to avoid the overall facts. You even mentioned "low light"... I've routinely given nod to the potential the Nano+ might have in low light. However, none of you guys will acknowledge that the Mini 3 Pro is superior in basically every other way. Regardless of what a bunch of name calling pieces of trash have to say, I'm not a "fan boy" of any kind, other than a fan of what works best. I guarantee you that if Autel made a superior drone to DJI, I would be the first in line to buy it. I don't give a fuck who makes my equipment or where it's made. I want the best overall equipment for the money. At one point, I owned the 3DR Solo, then the XStar Premium, and even the Yuneec Typhoon H+ because I thought they were the best. Right now, in my experience, DJI makes the best overall drones. Period. One company might have better Obstacle Avoidance. One may fly longer. One might even have a better camera. However, no one puts it all together the way DJI does. The Nano+ has sub par obstacle avoidance, it's missing or has incomplete features, it doesn't fly as long or as fast, it doesn't have near the camera capabilities of the Mini 3 Pro as far as modes or features go. There is a reason you own a Nano+ and still purchased a Mini 3 Pro isn't there? Or are you one of those types that buy several versions of basically the same drone just to be buying them?

After the DJI Fan-Boy’s obvious omissions and flaws in the camera comparisons, let’s not forget that DJI’s nanny system is often more restrictive the actual FAA zones! Nano doesn’t have that big problem.
Also, Fan-Boy’s comment that DJI Mini provides rubber landing pads under the fuselage and that was somehow better than Nano’s actual landing legs is such a fantasy benefit - Nano’s legs keep the motors more above LZ debris. And then the pressing down on the elevated fuselage as compared to the “more sturdy” Mini is not a fair or comparable demonstration.

The performance of the drone itself is a minor factor to consider. The whole reason to choose Autel is GEO ZONE-free and protected privacy. If you are a professional pilot, you cannot trust the DJI drone. DJI drones often fail to fly due to the errors of the GEO ZONE server. You will lose business. DJI drone emits the pilots' location by AeroScope, which increases the possibility to be involved in trouble with people who hate drones.

who's to say Autel doesn't take your info as well? Yeah autels flight logs don't take pictures for reference but I think this matters very little compared to the big deal that people make it out to be.
Only people who pay for aeroscope can use it.... not some random karens- that shits expensive! And people do dumb things with dji drones so you have to understand why LE and ATC would have it. There were mods to disable it but most recent updates on dji drones have patched that out
However the geofencing is lame I'll give you that... autel has it in China though as well- I've seen it being introduced on some of their bigger quads as well- you can't getaway from it unless your under 249G with older drones

Other than one or two metrics, one of which is purely subjective, the Mini 3 Pro is superior to the Nano+. Period.
However, I'm going to endeavor to give you what you want. I'm close with several large RUclipsrs and I'm going to try and convince them to never mention Autel again. At all. Nice comparison of these two Mini drones. Probably the two that feature the best cameras in this class. Both drones are much better after a rounds of firmware updates.
