The chick’s legs are doing something that other animals can have (I don’t know if chickens or birds in general can get this) called Swimmer Syndrome, where the legs go out to the side. Using therapy and tools to move them inwards is the best way to fix that when they’re young, because their bones are still flexible. So glad that you guys are taking such good care, even though they were fragile and many of them passed away. :)

Great video as always guys. I'd like to make a suggestion for your incubator. The plastic material used in the baskets in your incubator is extremely slippery for newborn birds, you can see in the video they can't get any grip to stand. When you stop rotating the eggs, place some sort of an anti slip mat (rubber placemats work wonderful) under the eggs in the incubator when they start to pip. This will prevent splayed leg, and enable the chicks to be mobile faster so they are able to move around better to feed and water themselves, so they don't get so weak. I always place the heat source directly above my chicks so they don't have a choice to go without heat for the first few days. After that you can move the heat source to one side or the other enabling them to move in and out of the heat if they so desire. Good luck guys!

CUTENESS OVERLOAD! Cute li'l keets, so sad that most passed but fivel is still hanging on, something about ya whistlin' to him/her Jake that motivated him to live. Loved the video footage of the rest of your critters as well, especially Bamboo and the Blonde twins! :)

I rekon it’s the incubator that’s causing the legs to do this. There legs are sliding and not able to grip the plastic bottom.

+Luke Cawley - we've hatched a number of birds in there and it's never caused splayed leg before. We last saw it with our pheasants but it was in a different incubator. I think some birds are more apt to get it than others.

I’ve done the same thing in the situation of the weak keet, as farmers it’s our job to take care of our animals to give them the best chance at life. So nice to see another caring person with their babies! Good work, just another reason I fully support your channel. ❤️
