      @@fromupnorthc546 can you even imagine how stimulating this is for a little child? I mean wow my parents gave me all the toys I want it I even got a pony when I asked for one but we didn't live on a farm so we had to board at somewhere and never really got to see it so that wasn't really fair. But I don't know I think having a bunch of chickens in my dad hatching chickens throughout my childhood would have brought me very fond memories. To be honest I think I would trade my whole childhood in just to have this childhood.😀😀😀

      I was thinking the same, how much richer a childhood these children have. Playing with chicks and being aware of what is around them instead of playing games on the computer etc. They may get sucked in by that stuff later but what a great grounding.

      @@shaunm3206 I was born in 1990 and I even still grew up when the dawning of video games and computer games was becoming really big and it's only gotten worse since then. Clearly this kid is not old enough to have outlived those creations but he still managing they have a great life and I think his dad is doing a great job with all of them.🥰🥰🥰

    I have a hova bator 1588 for 2 years now and the first time i hatched 34 out of 42 eggs,and also I have read almost everywhere and in the instructions that you must not touch the incubator from the day you increase the humidity and remove the egg mover until the 3rd day of the first chick hatching...also the power outage does not mean anything unless the house got very cold and that incubator doesnt seem very insulated if at all.I had many power outages too,although it was spring...also the eggs left should be kept in the incubator until day 24 or 25 cause the chicken eggs need 21 days to start hatching although a few tend to start earlier...and the yolk I think gets absorbed fully in the last 24 hours as it's hatching...you probably know this better than me 😂 just saying what I know...good luck with the hatched chicks and I hope they all survive ✌

    Thank you for your video. Eggs hatching early tends to mean the incubator is running too hot, 1oC increase results in premature hatching, circa 24 hours. Worth checking. I had read somewhere that incubators are built to house 50% of the suggested egg volume. Looks like this one a sized to house the full number, a great find.

    Another thing that played apart in the unsuccessful incubation is don’t leave the “hatching grate” inside the incubator while in incubation, it will decrease both the humidity and the heat. Other than that congrats on your little new chicks! 🎉 cheers

    This is the different between city kids and rural kids. All of them have come to terms with the life cycle, and understand death. Urban kids never really get to experience and come to terms with mortality until they're adults.

    • @leambean9996
      @leambean9996 4 года назад +4

      Most urban kids do understand death, just because they dont live on a farm doesnt mean they cant have pets, friends, parents, or grandparents that one day die.

    • @hoho7029
      @hoho7029 3 года назад +3

      as person who had multiple pets as kid in middle of the city and well...parents did not paid attention to me "taking care" of them resulting in early deaths...IVE SEEN ENOUGH OF DEATHS!

    • @JWJWJWJW
      @JWJWJWJW 3 года назад +2

      It's incredibly ignorant to assume that urban youth don't understand death until adulthood. There are plenty of homeless youth in the cities, many die, many of their friends die. There are plenty of children in cities that grow up in unstable homes, with parents that leave or die when they're young. There are plenty that lose grandparents, or uncles, or cousins, or siblings. There are kids from good homes, bad homes, and no homes that understand the cycle of life and death. There are plenty of kids that grow up with pets that have lived and died and given birth anew. You shouldn't assume that "city kids" don't get to experience or understand these things.

    While I understand that you want to adjust the camera so you can have the chicks in frame when they're hatching, anyone who has experience with hatching eggs
    using an incubator will tell you that the lid should NOT be opened during the last three days of hatching because it creates sudden drops in humidity and there is
    a risk of the chicks getting shrink wrapped inside their own egg, unable to get out, because the egg shells are porous and the membranes can dry out. There's a
    good reason why the last three days are referred to as "lock down". Chicks can survive up to two days in the incubator while they absorb nutrients from the egg.

    You really are not supposed to keep opening the incubator. It causes shrink wrapping and will cause the unhatched and pipped chicks to not be able to come out of their shell. Just trying to help you get more chicks hatching. Great video and cute mixes. We have Ayam Cemani and one of our 5 week olds has taken in our 2 day old Golden Campines. So fun to watch. Not supposed to open it while they hatching lose humidity & the wrap will shrink around them to where theor unable to get out of the shell. Just some kindly info for next time you hatch some out. Just patiently wait before opening incubator. Let them all hatch out before handling.

    Looking forward to seeing what they look like with their adult feathers.
    The difference with the incubator's temperatures vs what you measured is likely because it was estimated at Italian ambient temperatures and there's more heat lost to the environment where you're at.

    Watching the kids play with the chicks inside and had to chuckle when I saw all three on the tractor and trailer, being pulled along. Maybe next hatching will be more successful as you won't have to worry about the weather as much.

    Aren't you supposed to "lock down" the incubator and try to keep the humidity high during the last 3 days?

    • @whitewavegsd4479
      @whitewavegsd4479 4 года назад +4

      Rachel yes. Your not supposed to open it up. That’s why it’s called lockdown. Many ppl do but it lowers that hatch rate significantly. It causes them to shrink wrap

    • @Rach.Filippone
      @Rach.Filippone 4 года назад +4

      @@whitewavegsd4479 that's what I thought, maybe that's why they only had 3 hatch. 😔

    • @whitewavegsd4479

      Rachel it’s sad. It’s not always the case but it definitely lowers hatch rate. First week your supposed to leave eggs be. Candle on day 7. Then let me until right before lockdown. You can candle again before lockdown which is a good idea to do. But after that, they need to be left alone. The chicks will survive for a few days since they absorb the yolk. Sometimes it’s a tough call when you have some chicks hatched early. You don’t even want to open to remove shells. All it takes is a couple seconds of the incubator being opened. I wait as long as possible. Then there is Mother Nature. Some chicks will just never hatch. No matter how well they were incubated. I always get sad when some don’t hatch. Eggtopsy is the hardest part for me but it’s very good to do and can hopefully help get a better batch rate next time.

    Beautiful chicks 😊 that was so cute watching them play with kids, especially the toys! Haha. I hate so few hatched. Y’all will have to try the incubator one more time to see if it was the power outage. Love ur channel and all your kiddos and farm life 💗

    How do you like the new incubator? We need one and we’re thinking of a brinsea.

    I understand the problem with power loss. I was incubating 60 quail eggs, lost power for 3 or 4 hours, and ended up with only 18 chick. I was sad. So, getting 3 out of 16 with those conditions is great. I lost my power right when they started hatching.

    Theres a video on the RUclips of a guy who bought a few dozen quail eggs to incubate and hatch and while I think only 3 hatched it was interesting that grocery store quail eggs could be hatched. Would be fun to see you try this.

    I think it's pretty cool that you show the unhatched eggs to the kids. educational!
    I have no idea if a childhood like this will give more respect for food and animals, but I fish I had a childhood like this.

    You don t have to open the incubator in the last 3 days (hatching days) because the major part of the chicks in the eggs will die and you can see that opening the eggs that didn t hatch. This is not a criticism but an advice. I love you channel, your videos and what you do.😄

    I would like to see you guys try it again but maybe as others suggest up the humidity and leave the top closed until the date is finished and to get a better thermometer. I just use a hova-bator but I use a manual meat thermometer not a electric ones which don’t handle the humidity as well. Good luck next time. Please try again I have thought about getting this incubator because it’s a good mid size incubator.
